He further provided him with the insurance plan policy number and case number specific to the sale of the home. Lee explicitly confirmed that the legal insurance would cover his fee via email as well as in his retainer agreement. The day after closing we received a call from Lee stating that the insurance did not cover his fees and that we would have to pay out of pocket. Apparently, Lee failed to actually verify that the coverage provided would cover his fee and just assumed that it would. Furthermore, the phone call we received after closing requesting payment was the first and only time either of us had ever spoken to him on the phone - all prior communication was either email or through his paralegal. Additionally, all of the documentation we received to be notarized in preparation for closing had the property address spelled incorrectly, which led to a last-minute runaround to get it all correct. To top it off, the wire he sent with the proceeds from the sale of the home did not specify our account - it was just sent to our bank's general wire account. Had to spend about an hour on the phone trying to get it resolved. Either too busy to care or just not detail-oriented to begin with. Not an ideal experience.
