Our experience: My wife and I had put our trust in H&R block the past several years and in 2014 another independent CPA. Recently we identified that H&R block made a serious error the year my wife and I got married by filing us under the wrong status. This drove other questions about contribution limits. Jim helped us peal back the onion, and after correcting our federal returns (3 years worth) he reevaluated our California returns and found an additional refund that almost offset the amount we owed federally.
