A huge shout out to Patricia Flores! She put up with me thru Covid and worst! She is efficient, and sharp as a razor. She caught a mistake that the bank made.The IRS should wish she was on their side. Now I believe Patricia is based at the Seaside office and one other location. But we all know Covid has made in person meetings optional. So if you need someone who can handle complicated, ask for her. And err, the rest of H&R Block? At least they didn't offer extreme rude customer service the way, the office in Sunnyvale did. But due to Covid they managed to miss manage the messaging system. If I could do negative stars, I would. 2023 I filed my taxes with Fred Bautisto. I told him I had a baby I even brought my baby with me to the appointment who was an infant. I informed them I have been on disability for my baby. I didn't know that this was something that I had to bring up for my taxes. I had taken paid family leave at the end of 2023 for my infant. When I went to pay the insane fee of $350 just to file my taxes I left my tax return on the counter. The next day they called me and told me that I had left it and I told him I was out of town asked if my fiancé could pick it up with my verbal permission. They said no i come back when i get out of town and they dont have it in their small filing cabinet at the front. So 1. Where the he!! Is it!? Fast forward to 2024 I filed my taxes elsewhere because H&R block is ridiculous. My text appear Family and how that was supposed to be filed for taxes. I told her it was never mentioned when I did my taxes at H&R Block and I didn't know to file something that I didn't know was mentioned that isn't that a tax preparer is supposed to bring up? They are the professionals? They know what is supposed to be filed? Especially knowing the fact that I brought my infant with me, told my tax repair at H&R Block at the time that I went on disability for my infant. So my current tax preparer for 2024 had told me that I need to call H&R Block and have them amend my taxes and now at this point, I will be fined interest for not reporting it. So you mean to tell me I'm not going to pay interest or something that my tax preparer did not ask or bring up? So I called H&R Block and ask them if they could amend my taxes. Told me that they will send me an email how to have my taxes amended and information as to why. I received a voicemail on my phone that Fred bautisto had left. The voicemail said " he is sorry that I went elsewhere for my 2024 taxes and that it'll be an additional $99 to ammend" In addition to the fine I will not be paying. They told me it's a $99 fee to have my taxes amended. I called Fred with my father on the line and my father was respectfully asking questions. Fred had made a comment and my dad responded. We're going to pay it. We're not criminals and friend yelled at my dad to not make that comment and to not talk to him like that. My dad didn't even do anything wrong. It was the way that had spoken to him that my father responded were not criminals and that we are going to this. Fred ended up once again raising his tone of voice and hung up on my dad. Fred has never called me back. So now One they said they don't have 2023 taxes. And 2 they couldn't print it or would not print it. I will be attaching a screenshot of the voicemail that was left apologizing I went elsewhere for my 2024 taxes and that I will be charged a $99 amendment fee when H&R Block and their taxpayer is the one that messed up when they are the "professionals" . I went to an H&R block in Benicia to have trust taxes done as I wanted them to be professionally done. The preparer that I was assigned to said he was a senior preparer. He seemed to not be very knowledgeable and then I found out he was not a Senior Preparer. I left that office and found Sigfrefo Bautista in the Vallejo Admiral Callahan office. I verified that he was a Senior Preparer. He goes by Fred. He was so friendly and knowledgeable that I left that office with the confidence that the trust taxes were prepared with someone who knew what they were doing. I usually do my own taxes. Don't get your taxes done with Carina! On Friday April 5, I made an in office appointment with her for 12pm. I didn't have all my physical documents at home and no printer so I called the office 10:50am, to see if I could email them to her. I was transferred to her and identified myself by saying my name and that I had an appointment with her at 12pm. I asked her if I could email the docs go her. She said yes but that it was better if I could upload them to HR Block, she asked me if I had a profile with HR block, I told her I did. She told me I could upload my documents there. I said great, but also requested her email in case I couldn't figure it out. She also asked, do you want to do a drop off? She said she would do my returns and call me when they're done. I asked, don't I have to go in to sign, she said no. It sounded very convenient so I said ok. I was able to upload all of my documents to my profile on HR Block and called her back to let her know at 11:23am, the call didn't go through so I called again at 11:26am. I identified myself by stating my name and time of appointment. I also let her know I was able to upload the documents. She said she would start working on my tax return and call me back when she was done to go over everything. I assumed she would use the hour allotted to me to complete my return. Either way I was busy at work but noticed she hadn't called me back at 2:47pm so I called the office. The call didn't go through so I called back at 2:48pm. The second call range through and then when it seemed like someone answered it dropped again. I thought, maybe she's off work now, I'll call back tomorrow. The next day I called at 10:06am and couldn't get through again and called back at 10:10am. Carina answered by saying "hello," not "H&R Block, Carina speaking" or something of that effect (which she had done in previous calls). I said "hello, is this H&R block?" she said "yes," I said "is this Carina?", she said "yes." I said my name and told her I was her 12pm appointment from yesterday and asked if she could give me the status of my tax return and when it will be completed? She said "not right now, I'm with a customer." I told her she was supposed to call me back yesterday and she didn't. She said that she would call me back I asked her, when she was going to call me back and she said in an hour. I said "ok, I'll be expecting your call." I waited for 1 hour and 23 minutes and she didn't call, so I called the office at 11:33am. This time a front end person answered. I identified myself and started telling her my issues with Carina, after about 30 seconds, she just transferred me to her. Carina answered and I again identified myself with my name and my appointment time. I told her she was supposed to call me half an hour ago and I needed the status of my tax return. She asked for my phone number, which is weird since I had spoken to her 3x at this point. She said "you never uploaded your documents." I said, "yes I did, and I called you to tell you I updated them." She said she couldn't find them and had been looking for them all of yesterday and today. "I said, then why didn't you call me." She said she didn't have my number, but I had spoken to her 2x times before my appointment and my # is on my profile. Then I asked, "what are you going to do to make this right?" She just repeated that I had not uploaded my documents so she couldn't do my return. I said OK so it sounds like you haven't done my return. I told her I did not want my return done by her at this point, but I did want to speak to her manager. She said her manager was not in and that she would pass on my information to her. I told her that I did not trust her to give my information to her and to please transfer me back to the front and person so that I could give her my information. She continue to argue with me instead of doing that said that I did not show up to my appointment I told her, she persuaded me not to come into my appointment and instead do I drop off. She said it's because I said I could not come into the office which is a complete lie! That made me really upset! Since it seemed like she was not gonna transfer me to the front end person, I asked her when her manager was coming into the office. She said her manager would be in on Monday. I let her know. I expected a call from her manager early in the morning, and if I did not receive that call that I would call until I was able to speak with her. Her response was fine and our call ended. I ended up making an appointment at the other H&R Block location in Vallejo. When I was there, I mentioned my issue with Carina and that she had said that I never uploaded my documents. I asked the person at the front end staff here to check my profile and see if my documents were there. She was able to confirm that my documents were there and they were uploaded April 5. I had done my return with them since 2018. This year in 2022 I received a refund and saw a fee for $328 along with this years fee. I asked what this fee was and the general manager told me it was a fee they hadn't got from me from 2018. Mind you in 2019 I paid my fee with my bank card and no mention I owe them. Do not use this office or the H and R Block by Target. I took my taxes to H and R Block the year my husband died to make sure they were done correctly. The taxes were not done correctly and as a result I was audited. After researching the tax code I found that I met the criteria to deduct the interest in question. I spent weeks putting together information needed to justify the interest deduction as it was related to a substantial home improvement project. My son hand delivered a hard copy of everything to be scanned and sent to IRS. The tax consultant only had to print off photos that supported the written materials and provide the interest calculation. I specifically asked her not to fax it in bits and pieces and that I wanted it faxed in together with a receipt showing that it was filed by the deadline. On the day it was due I contacted the tax consultant to make sure it got submitted. She stated she was working on it and it would be done that day. I followed up next day and was told she faxed part of it but was still needing to fax some today. Now it was late and she did exactly what I asked her not to do. I requested that they mail it to the IRS in its entirety return receipt and signature requested. I requested to review what was being sent. I was informed the manager already left. I then requested a hard copy of everything sent to the IRS. I have been waiting a month and have nothing. I called the complaint line 4 times and was told it was being escalated to corporate and someone would contact me. This was a lie. They do not resolve anything at corporate. Instead the complaint line refers it back to the local office you complain about and they do nothing. The regional manager is supposed to contact me. I am being audited because of the incompetence and carelessness I experienced. Instead of being supportive and providing customer service, I have felt all along that they do not care. They are busy. Instead of helping me they have made me feel like I have no expertise or help. It is very stressful going through an audit. It is even more so when you have to rely on people that are unprofessional, do not practice good business practices and are unaware of the tax code. These are people who know how to use software, not tax professionals. The complaint line is a joke and offers no solutions and I am not hopeful after 4 calls to complaint line that the regional manager will do anything. Do yourself a favor . Do not use H and R Block in Vallejo or Benicia. I dont want anyone to go through what I have gone through. This is one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a business. First of all I dropped my documents off on a Friday and was told they would be done the beginning of the next week. I get how busy it can get but It took two weeks. I called several times to check the status and my calls where not returned until Finally after I let it be known I was not happy did I hear back from the person completing my taxes. My taxes were done & as far as I know they did the job ok no issues. Which is a good thing when it comes to taxes... But I decided to use their H&R Block Emerald Prepaid MasterCard which is a rip off 1st it took over 2 weeks before funds where applied to card almost the same amount of time to let the feds send a check. 2nd'ly there is a additional fee on top of what every I paid to get this prepaid card to cash it out and apply funds to my checking account was a additional $25.00 dollars transfer fee!!! I loved coming here with Linda but I had THE WORST experience with this lady that never assisted me before (Martha Miranda) she was so rude nasty attitude !! I walked in and she asks me personal questions on the front desk regarding to my taxes and she tells me my total tax amount I would be reviving would be $50 !!! This is just her guessing of the top of her head ! Then I stated even though I made a fair amount then she says let's go to my desk and talk mind you she has a nasty attitude ! So as we talk and she does whatever she needs to on the computer she is just clicking away and finally tells me the fee I would owe them and until I asked soooo how much am I gonna get back ?? She says the amount which was no where near $50!!! Ugh so fucking ignorant !!!
