Short Version: Minton CPA will cause you tons of grief and cost you a lot of money. The only CPA…read morethere is Christina Minton (Tina). No other CPA's. She way over promises and grossly under delivers. If you are looking for a CPA keep looking. Long Version: Back in 2018 I had a consultation with Christina Minton. Everything seemed to go well, but we could never actually get in touch again to start accounting services. They never returned phone calls or emails. Quite odd, so we hired another firm. Our business grew substantially and we were outsourcing accounting to a firm in another state. I wanted to find a local firm so on the advice of a friend I contacted Christina Minton again. This was around June 2022. I had a long phone call and I told her we would need a lot of hand holding in the beginning to get all the accounting back on track, fix problems, setup for success, etc. I sent her all the requested info and then met with her in person the next week. This was about an hour long meeting and we went over quite a bit. I asked about why she never returned calls and emails a few years before. She told me she had a partner that ended up embezzling over 100k from her and she was dealing with that at the time. Should have been a big enough red flag for me to run at that point but she came highly recommended from a friend. How could a CPA allow a 'partner' to steal that much money without knowing? She reassured me that all is good now and they can easily handle all our needs. About a month later we switched over all accounting and bookkeeping to Minton CPA. Huge mistake. The brief overview is that they could never even setup the bookkeeping properly after 2 months! On the accounting end they always act like it's day one. We went over everything in detail before I hired them, but now we had to go through every little detail again and often multiple times. It was literally groundhog day. They have absolutely no organizational system. Only threads of never ending unsecured (gmail) email chains. I setup another in person meeting with Tina to discuss all the problems. Again, we literally started over from the beginning! We had to go over details that should have already been resolved. She once again apologized and said she would get everything straightened out. The final straw was when they reassured everything was final to file our personal returns. They called me on the day it was due to be filed and said I had to pay for them to file the return. We didn't even review anything! They didn't file the return so more penalties on top of that. We ended up having to hire another firm to fix all the problems they caused. Minton CPA caused an incredible amount of damage in only 3 short months. We paid them to file our corporate return which was $1500. It was incorrect. Our new firm had to file an amendment for this, costing us much more time and money. We lost thousands because of their mistakes. It turns out that Alex is only the 'office manager'. Alex has no accounting background, but does quite a bit of the 'accounting' work. Minton CPA is not necessarily an accounting firm. Tina Minton is the only actual CPA there and Alex is her daughter. Alex and a few other unqualified people do the majority of the work. Finding a good CPA is hard because many of them are overworked. If you are looking for a good CPA keep looking. Minton CPA will only cause you grief and cost you tons of money. We are still dealing with issues they caused months after I fired them.

I actually called to try and reschedule the appointment since I knew I didn't have all of my information for filing however I was advised I should come in anyway so that I can get a 10% discount My first visit consisted of him putting all of my W2 information in the computer that I had so far and telling me how most likely I'm not going to be able to deduct any work expenses or out of pocket expenses for my clinical supervision for myb licensure ECT. I mean he didn't even ask me all of the expenses that I had? It probably took him a good 5-10 minutes to enter in all my information however his computer was acting up so he was unable to show me flow charts to backup the reasons why I am not able to claim my deductions and was adamant it would not be beneficial for me to itemize. So yes I was probably there for about 45 minutes to an hour but not because he was reviewing any paperwork with me. We decided that we would just end the meeting and that I would submit any additional W-2s that I get since it was still early in the season. After I left I decided to get a second opinion and have someone else review my paperwork so I called the office and told them I didn't want to file with them and if I could pick up the paperwork that he did have on file so far. The secretary told me that I could stop by anytime and pick it up however he charges $100 an hour and that for that visit I would have to pay $114 and if I decide to continue with them of course they would give me a final fee for services. Obviously I'm going to pay the fee and go somewhere else however that is b******* because he literally didn't do anything that I couldn't do by myself! So back to TurboTax I go.... And he charged me an hour? Really? Fucking rip off!! I didn't even get the 10% discount lol...ridiculous, poor business etiquette
