I always had a wonderful experience with experienced pharmacists. The new pharmacist Taylor has made my life non functional amd wasted a ridiculous amount of my time. She over rides my doctors advise to refill an allergy medication after sitting on it all week and not doing the job she is paid for to make executive decisions. She has abused her power twice with me alone, so I worry about the elderly she is managing. She did not fill my prescription all week and did not inform me until my 3rd call this week when I was on my way to pick up. She refused to fill the prescription and right after tried to extort me into purchasing zyrtec for literally quadruple the amount my doctors prescription is. She let me know it was exactly the same thing, but she decided to over ride my doctor on a friday after hours. I informed her she could have made this decision many times over this week, rather than waiting until they coled for the weekend. I asked her to be a human to a single mom who has to go to work woth out hives, and she said, go to the hospital or buy the expensive alternative she sell at HEB lol! Wow. Unbelievable. This store is about 7 minutes walk from my son's abode. But we still drove because it's too hot to walk and carry back heavy groceries. You pronounce the letters H-E-B . The letters stand for Howard E. Butt, the actual name of the supermarket chain's founder. Same letter initials also stand for the store's slogan.... "Here Everything's Better." The store is being renovated so a lot of shelves are not fully stocked but still kept clean overall. Their produce and fruits are fresh and they have good quality meat as well. One thing I know they're true to what their store slogan means. Before I leave to go back to California I'm cooking meals for my son's family because they crave for my Filipino cuisine . I am making Picadillo : sautéed ground beef in garlic, onion and fresh tomatoes in tomato sauce with diced potatoes , carrots, peas and red bell pepper. Bought all the ingredients here. Total $22.00 I bought HEB grass-fed-new-york-strip-steak-boneless to cook BISTEK , a Filipino beef stew marinated in onion strips, soy sauce and lemon juice. $30 Then can't leave them without making the LUMPIA ( pork egg roll ), which is a special request too from my daughter in law. For this recipe we needed ground pork. There was none available here so we just bought a 3 lb package of pork rib eye boneless cut for $10.00. My daughter in law has a meat grinder so we ground our meat and it was even better quality. When cooking prep time is very tedious process so to save time peeling garlic , I just purchased a bag of peeled garlic for $6.98. I love this store cause the wide aisles provide the smooth flow foot traffic with minimum chance of carts bumping another. Probably the minimum code width requirement of the grocery aisles here in Texas are different compared in California wherein most aisles are narrower. Just an honest observation. read more

Spent $70 on a white cake with blue ombré icing. The cake was so dense and stale It was awful. I was in a jam as it was picked up at 2:30 for a party at 5pm. Did not cut into the cake until 7:30pm so was not much we could do as far as a new cake. Let the bakery manager know Sunday morning how disappointed we were that they screwed up a white cake. It was dry, stale and looked more like a pound cake than a white cake. The ombré was just a dark blue line and light blue. I was ok with that as I was able to decorate it to look pretty. But the taste was just awful. Was told to bring the cake back for a refund. Sorry don't have it and did Not want one, they needed to know how bad it was and to Rectify it for the next customer. read more

This review is for a young pharmacy girl at HEB North 19th Waco Texas her name is ANA ARAUJO on March 6th 2025 I called my pharmacy about my scripts they were expensive even after my insurance paid some of it i told her the truth is I don't need that many lancets or strips to check my BS so she told me we can give you the HEB brands for 30 days at about $7 then she said if I'll hold she's gonna try for another brand and run it thru my insurance and see what they say I waited on the phone over 5 minutes and Ana came back on to tell me that now my 100 lancets were free and my 100 test strips were free but my glucose monitor was $22.50 Ana went above and beyond for me and now every month for the next 15 months my supplies will be free she went out of her way to save me over $100 I'm a single income and she doesn't know that but this is what customer care is all about I thanked her the next day in person but I also believe that her bosses and peers should congratulate her too personally thank you Ana for doing all that for me Ranjan Gonzalez read more

I prefer HEB over Walmart because the produce and meats are fresher. I don't have a car and would walk to HEB several times a day for exercise. I would get only what could be carried by hand each trip and go to the self-check out. I shopped at this HEB for a year and a half before having problems with harassment at the self-check out. The attendants speak in a harsh manner, have bad body language, and act bizarrely to unnerve the customer. I don't interact with anyone I get my stuff and go. But they have something to say or try to get my attention. Then a couple of guys working in produce started the same thing. So, I believe there was talk about me in the store. How smart do you have to be to see there a cameras and management is watching. On occasion they did it while a manager was standing there watching. I was careful to remain quiet and passive. And it's not just me, I would occasionally see other customers treated rudely. But I was a target of greater harassment. I give HEB credit because the harassers began to disappear. The dummies were fired. It is like a revolving door for employees there. It's senseless, all they had to do was ignore me and focus on the job. They should be happy I come and go and mind my own business. Even today if I linger in the store, I will encounter a micro aggression. For example, I head towards the front some employee will walk past cutting me off. Funny, it's usually female employees. I think they are annoyed at not getting enough attention. I feel a sense of freedom going into Walmart. There are cameras everywhere, but they have a hands-off culture when dealing with customers. I walk to Walmart when I can to avoid too many trips to HEB. read more

No star is not an option, so still one star!!! Used to be my go to store, not anymore. I found really disappointing fact on 24th December 2019. I was looking for the clorox wipes and this banner said "low prices $5.98 for 3 pk". Here is where it gets interesting, so I removed the tag to see the original price for the product and SHOCK!!!! The original price for the product is $5.28 for 3 pk. Try to compare all the barcode numbers if you really want to be sure. HEB commercial says it for people of Texas. Great store as far as having lots of choices. I can't find mccormick's sea salt/garlic grinders anywhere in the d/fw area-but come to waco and HEB and I am able to stock up. This store is still better than the one on 19th, but the curbside pickup service is pretty bad. This store is an almost 30 min drive from my home, but unfortunately there aren't any closer options. We like to utilize the curbside option, but in my 8 months of living in Texas, I've had missing items from my order at least 4 or 5 times. Actually just today, I got home and realized 7 items were missing! (I had even asked the lady if that was everything when she brought it out and she said yes). Unreal. In addition, the produce isn't great most of the time. I wish there were other grocery options here but there aren't :( read more

We actually used this HEB for the flowers for our wedding and it was INCREDIBLE. They met with us and learned what we wanted and made it happen! They sent us pictures as they were making the bouquets to make sure we liked them and we loved them. Definitely above and beyond what we were expecting and very reasonably priced. read more

Why this supermarket bothers with providing a pharmacy is beyond me. It is so hard for me to get a refill here. They encourage you to call in refills on their automated system. They offer to notify your doctor if your prescription is out of date, not only have they NEVER notified my doctor. They haven't even refilled my prescriptions when my doctor HAS notified them. I still have to go and wait to get my refill. Don't offer services you have no intention of providing. Thats all. Its that simple. False promises is POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. read more

Horrible service!! I spoke with staff and they said there's no use in speaking with upper mgmt on getting assistance during high traffic periods in the store. It always falls on deaf ears. Upper mgmt doesn't care, it is what it is. If corporate really cares, it should make a visit or intervention to this store to see what support the Frontline really needs vs. what senior mgmt is not telling corporate. This store can be insanely busy that being said for the most part is a great H-E-B. They have everything you need and the H-E-B quality you are used to. Normally I am a big fan if you cannot tell. Today on the other hand was a little different. I went in to get a vaccination and grab something from the deli. Everything was going great was headed to the pumps to get some fuel before heading back from lunch. While eating my deli wrap I bit into it and thought I broke my tooth. I looked at the wrap and found a clip from what seems like a ziplock bag. I emailed H-E-B but was really disappointed. My favorite HEB. This one has an excellent selection of items that make it very similar to its sister-store Central Market. The prices are great as well. When I shop there I primarily buy HEB brand items. What I love about the HEB brand is that all of it is actually good food--I really can't taste the difference between it and name brand items. Get an HEB card and earn points--it's free. I got $5 off my last purchase from all of the point I'd earned. read more

This is the store in Waco for Organics, Bulk foods, and friendly staff. The others may have more items, non grocery items. But this store is hard to beat for groceries. I have noticed the gas prices being higher here than Woodway or Bellmead however, to buyer beware. read more

If I had time, I would always drive out of the way to this H-E-B so that I could avoid visiting the one on 11th and Speight right by Baylor campus. They have a wide selection of fresh bread and wine, and even have a fresh sushi station. The sushi here is not world class, but it is incredibly edible and usually pretty good. They have a pretty decent beer/fish/meat selection here in addition to all the wine and fresh bread. I actually prefer this H-E-B to the H-E-B Plus in Hewitt. In my experiences, I would drive all the way to Hewitt to look for something specific and they would not have it, but they would have it at Wooded Acres. Go figure. read more

Since leaving Waco in 1993 and then traveling the world with the Navy, I had forgotten how much better this grocery chain is over the other stores. When dropping our daughter off at college this summer, this place made our return to Texas that much better. I am seriously considering my retirement location based on proximity to these HEB stores! First off, wanted to say how awesome it is for someone to take the time she did to answer each one of my long winded questions about my medications I picked up. I haven't taken meds in forever and I'm thankful for that but apparently the flu shots were as useful as writing the ghostbusters logo with the word "Flu" on your arm with a sharpie this year. She was courteous and detailed. These meds come with a very descriptive picture of the possible Armageddon that could befall you of side effects. Thankfully there's pharmacists like her to give you the point blank info without you wanting to draft your will as you swallow these guys. read more

I want to tell everyone about an experience I had at this local H-E-B store I was standing at the water all waiting on my father to finish his shopping when two associates came up to and harassed me follow up next by the manager. They made a complaint saying I was sexually harassing the patrons of the store. This is our grocery store of choice in Waco. The staff is helpful, the selection as good as it gets in McLennan County. That said, our regular items are not always stocked and the store suffers from a horrible lack of fair trade whole bean coffee options. read more

I visited this store while i was in Waco one evening,and this was a very pleasant experience. Not only were the gust servies helpful but all employee had smiles on their faces. Since I left my review (earlier this year) regarding no help in carrying out my groceries during a flare of my neurological pain, I've been unable to use my debit card anytime i need to shop in the store. When I lived in Waco, I referred to this store as the Taj MaHEB. Open 24-hours, this HEB offers beautifully displayed produce, a wide selection of beer and wine, and an excellent bakery. The prices are the same, if not lower, than the prices at the Valley Mills and Speight stores, but the shopping experience is much more pleasant, almost as nice as Central Market. Also, this location has a gas station with very competitive prices. read more

Screw HEB Wooded Acres! ...After 15 years of loyalty, over $5 grand a year - One weekend I lost my debit card, was hungry and needed food. I found out the rude way they will not take my check, even after trying to reason with a "Dan" who claims to be one of the owners in the Wooded Acres location. That was August, 2016. HEB must be now be buying sub-par meat. Their prime steak used to be worth it - melt in your mouth. But something, in the last 3-4 months has changed. They must be trying to save money...but the prime is not prime. I have bought it three times, at very steep prices and all three times it has been too tough to eat. My dog has been happy but we have not. I don't know what they are trying to pull..but it sucks. Tried Walmart Choice steaks and they weren't half bad. We just moved to Waco so I am new to using HEB. Overall, I like what the store has to offer. I love the carts for their double seats and cup holders. The food selection is decent. I had a great experience with one of the butchers (I think his name was Donny) who was extremely helpful. The problem comes at the end of my shopping trip. I absolutely hate going through the check out line because 4 out of 5 times I will end up having to bag my own groceries. I have 2 small children and just getting through the store is enough without then having to put everything up on the conveyor belt and then scrambling to get it all bagged at the end. Sometimes I will approach a line that has a bagger and as soon as the person in front of me is checked out, they will move to another line. I have a whole cart full of groceries, so why do they leave as soon as I get up there? I can't tell if it's baggers not wanting to bag a whole cart of groceries or just that the store is understaffed in this area. Either way, it's become a point of stress at the end of what is already a tiring shopping experience. In general, I find the staff to be underwhelming and they come off as though they really don't like their jobs. read more

I've shopped at this particular HEB for over 12 years now & I am disappointed that I can only give it one star since all the management left to go to the new HEB Plus on 35. I wouldn't give it any stars if it weren't for the deli staff (they are the best) as far as the rest of the store goes if it weren't convenient I wouldn't go there. The checkers are the worst! I'm giving this store no stars last week I went and stood in line thanks to COVID for an hour just to get groceries and when I went to pay I went over my cash budget and winded up needing to use my debit card for the remainder balance of 39.14 the systems went down after I swiped my card so the cashier instructed me to swipe 2 more times. Finally I had to use their arm to withdraw 40$ to pay the balance because their system wasn't working. By then I was like keep the change well on my way out the door I receive an alert from my bank they charged me 39.14 x3. I go back in talk to the manager she claims that it will be back on my card the next day if not come up there and they'll refund it. Well I go back up there the next day because of course my money isn't there and they say whoever told me that was misinformed and here's the number to treasurer call them. I called them 10x and got hung up before they finally answered me and said my money should be refunded this week starting Monday (I know this don't make sense) anyways here it is Wednesday and I have yet to receive any kind of refund. With everything going on in the world right now you would think that a company like Heb would be more compassionate to the fact that people need their money. Worst customer service ever!!!! HEB is awesome. Great place to shop and great choices of foods. Way cheaper than Walmart or any other grocery store. The only disadvantage is the people that work there are mostly kids so they don't always seem to care when checking you out. Other than that, pretty great. read more
