Nice place to stop by if you're looking for alternatives to the big grocery chain/drug store offerings. Lots of interesting food items, lots of snack items, and a huge selection of personal health/vitamin/supplements. They also have a large perfume/scent counter, with a wide variety of brands available, sometimes at a considerable savings over retail. There is usually a couple of tables up front with some seasonal items, I've seen farmer's fresh produce in season, all high quality. Some brands on the shelf I've only seen here, not even in HEB/Whole Foods, etc. Worth a stop and a browse around! read more

The perfume /fragrance smell when you walk in is inconcievable. However, for my low toxic lifestyle, I just go in really quick, get my stuff, and leave. The smell is just too strong in this ENTIRE store. It's a shame, with synthetic frangraces being as toxic as they are. But, they have local grass fed beef (not organic) and other lovely local food in one of the freezers and sprinkled about. Sometimes they have local (within or surrounding Waco) grown produce and eggs too. Wonderful place, but it does make me wish my parents did take my nose as a toddler. read more

Prices are inconsistent and incorrect. when I asked why the Dessert Essence deodorants were all priced differently, from $3.75, $8.85, $9.95 and $10.98. I was told it was due to where they are bought from and the cheaper price was a sale price and that they don't mark up the prices. When Heidi checked the price it was $7.99 and none of them were marked their actual price. So Heidi, the prices are in fact marked up and deceiving the customers...which isn't very Christian, since this store promotes Christian values. Really disappointed with this manager's attitude. read more

This is one of my favorite places to shop in Waco--certainly unassuming and off the beaten path. A local friend told me about it, and I've since helped to spread the gospel of Drug Emporium to others. This place has a section for "natural" groceries--both shelved and a freezer/refrigerated section. There is also a nice selection of natural cosmetics/soaps/essential oils. They also have a pharmacy and have a full aisle of (Aveda, Paul Mitchell, etc) shampoos/conditioners. My most recent obsession is their perfume counter. They receive sampler bottles and bottles that are missing caps or have opened boxes and you can find really nice fragrances at a discount. You can buy the full bottles, or they will also sell you a smaller decanter/spritzer if you want to try a smaller amount. I was able to find a Tom Ford fragrance there recently that I really love. Check them out next time you need to pick up a single item and don't feel like fighting with a crowd like at HEB or Walmart. read more

This was the only place in town I was able to find liquid melatonin!!! I desperately needed it after I broke the bottle I brought from home. It's the only way to help my kiddos deal with the time change. Lost a star only because the prices are a bit higher than expected. read more

Used to be our adventure spending hours to find bargains when one was in Arlington. We visited the one in Waco, it was still filled with many brands, items and treasures. Most of the food items were higher than at the regular grocery store. Some bargains on the end caps but everything else seemed extremely expensive. Good way to spend an hour. read more

This is a great place to shop if you like to eat clean. They have a good selection of health food and organic brands. I can find many items here that I would normally have to travel to Temple or Austin for. I can usually find items here cheaper than at Whole Foods or Natural Grocers. I love Buddha's Brew Kombucha and it is cheaper here than at any other store. I don't shop the other section of the store, I only go here for health foods and supplements. read more

Poor customer service at the Waco, TX location. I wrote a check to purchase 2 items, which came to about $10. The Instacheck vendor they use to clear checks had incorrect information relating to my driver's license. The clerk Jacob Peterson had the audacity to say loud enough in front of other customers, "this is a hot check!" I assured him it was not a hot check and asked to speak to the manager. Next manager Tina Sherrod came to the counter, and without asking for further identification or clarification, just said "I cannot accept your check and I won't lose my job over it." I then called the Instacheck vendor at the number the manager provided and they were closed! Manager Sherrod had no other options to offer to correct or resolve this issue. I fail to see any customer service in this situation. I presume it is the customer's fault that a vendor they use, and doesn't operate at the same business hours as the store, has incorrect information. A $10 check...really? read more
