He arrived early and after meeting in person again reviewed the timetable for the evening. He flawlessly executed our outline and actually improved it. Despite this preparation, we were informed just one day before the celebration that the originally contracted DJ would not be attending due to a scheduling conflict involving a high-profile client. Instead, a replacement DJ was sent. Unfortunately, the substitute did not meet the expectations outlined in our agreement. He failed to deliver the planned announcements at key moments and did not engage the crowd or create the lively atmosphere we had envisioned. He only spoke when prompted directly, even though he had been given the same detailed instructions as the original DJ. We are deeply disappointed in SkaiLive Events for not honoring their commitment and for expecting full payment despite the lack of follow-through. This event was a once-in-a-lifetime celebration, and the DJ's performance fell short of what was promised and paid for.

For reference, my wedding was in October 2007. I first contacted them in March 2007. I filled out their forms, and agreed to pay them $500 for their services. They do not require a deposit. I contacted them again in August to make sure they still had us in their schedule. They did. I contacted them again at the beginning of October so that I could meet with my DJ and discuss song choices with the DJ. One of the DJs called me back and told me he'd be DJing my wedding. He was kind of rude and kept saying, "I can't believe you've waited this long to get a DJ, I can't believe you've waited this long to contact us!" After SEVERAL of these comments, I was like, UMMM I first reserved yall in March. He seemed surprised. Later in the conversation, he said he could meet with me to talk in Round Rock. I live in Houston. My wedding was going to be in Houston. He was shocked, he thought my wedding would be in Austin. Apparently, because my cell phone number had a 512 area code (I went to school there), DJs Unlimited assumed my wedding would be in Austin and didn't take the time to read a few lines down on their form and see that my wedding would be in Houston. So they assigned me the Austin DJ. Fine. I guess that's an easily-made mistake. A few days later I met with this DJ in person. He kept making comments like, "Wow I've never met a bride like you before, I can't believe you haven't chosen these songs yet!!!!!" He wasn't saying this in a joking fashion, he was actually taken aback by my "lack of preparation". And the songs he couldn't believe I hadn't chosen were the flipping cake cutting song and anniversary dance song. I apparently wasn't bridezilla enough for him because I wasn't f-ing freaking out about the cake cutting song! Anyway, I was not very happy with being insulted by a DJ. During this meeting, I also paid an extra $250 for a screen and projector system to be set up and run during the beginning of the reception. When I met with the reception people, they told me I could get a screen and projector for them for $150. I contacted DJs Unlimited and told them I was canceling my order for the screen and projector. I get another call from the DJ concerning my songs, I think we were confirming another song choice. He again seemed to be under the impression that my wedding was in Austin. I told him it was in Houston. Fast forward to a few days before the wedding. I receive a call from another DJ, different from the one I previously dealt with, and he tells me he will be the DJ for my wedding. Okaaay. Fine. This guy tells me that he knows where my reception location is and he will see me on Saturday. The DJ was fine at the wedding, although of the 5-6 songs I requested be played that I had discussed with the first DJ, only one was played. These songs were special to my husband and I, and they were left out. The real irritation I had with DJs Unlimited was that it took them a good 5 months and many, many phone calls for them to refund my $250. I was so irritated. I first canceled the order in mid-October and did not receive a refund from them until mid-March. To be honest, I would not recommend DJs Unlimited to anyone. They were probably the most difficult wedding vendor I dealt with. I did not appreciate being insulted by the first DJ, and I really didn't appreciate them constantly telling my husband our check was in the mail when it wasn't. They get two stars because the DJ at the wedding was an overall good DJ. Dealing with the company, however, was not a good experience.

I would avoid these people at all cost as they are truly not a professional organization. They tried repeatedly to pressure me to alter the wording of my review and I did a few times. I was not however going to lie to make them happy. There are more than an ample number of these types of businesses in Houston...choose a more reputable one. They have left me a week away from the event for my daughter with no dunk tank and no bounce house. Now her birthday and celebration of her bone marrow transplant will likely be derailed because of them trying to bully someone into writing a review that was worded the way THEY want it written. Have also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau Houston As an addition/update to my previous review I thought it important to note that there have been 18 previous reviews of KingKong Party Rentals and they have all been filtered out. What does filtered out mean? It means that Yelp has algorithms in place to prevent deceitful behaviors by businesses to put up fake or solicited reviews. While this does not affect most companies what is important to grasp from this is that EVERY positive review they received was filtered out due to this type of attempt at putting up fake reviews to make them look better than what they actually are. See the pattern? They are an untrustworthy company and you should spend your money elsewhere. New update...they have tried to post some more fraudulent reviews to their site to make themselves look better. They have had 20 filtered out now. This guy is a really deceitful person and you should avoid him.

They emailed a few days later stating the quote, and included instructions to reply within an hour to reserve the day and time I had requested, which I did - I responded as soon as I received a notification that I had an email. I received no response until the following morning. The email they sent me stated they were rechecking availability and would get back with me. What was the point in telling me to reserve within an hour (which I did) if they weren't going to reserve it? I responded asking for them to give me a call, or to respond with a number I could call, so that we could make the reservation over the phone. That no doubt would have been much easier and faster. I received nothing back and after 24 hours emailed them AGAIN stating that I would not be using their services after all. If you value your time, do not waste it trying to work with this company as they clearly do not want your business. A tip for the owner: invest in a business phone and actually use it. UPDATE: I received a plethora of e-mails, texts and phone calls from this company apologizing and how they did value my business. They had apparently experienced technical difficulties the previous day. Either way, I had already moved on to another company. Be aware that if you do choose book with this company, it will be mainly through text and e-mail. I am giving them 3 stars on customer service (a combination of before and after the issue) only because I never got a chance to experience the actual product. I may try them again in the future, just not this time.
