We came in hoping there would be an alternative diet we could feed to our Bichon Frise who has been on a special diet for the past 8 years but we were not comfortable because of all the preservatives in her food. The staff were so knowledgeable and friendly and walked us through all the available Alternatives we had to choose from. They are amazingly attentive and caring and extremely knowledgeable. We put her on a new diet and she is doing great and has more energy than she has had since she was a puppy. Also the scoop your own dog treats are fantastic and the dogs love them. Such a warm inviting and personal place to go and will always be coming here from now on for all of our dog's supplies. Our dog eats a certain type of Diamond dog food that few owners feed their dogs. When I called them, they didn't have any in stock. When I was about to say thank you and hang up, the employee said they could have it for me in less than an hour. The "scoop your own" (that's what I call it) dog treats are the bomb. It really came across that they cared about our experience there. They were super attentive and playful with my dogs. They were interested in their names and ages and breeds. They give us 1:1 attention to help pick our treats. They even called people from the back to meet and greet my babies. Their prices are also resonance for the treats. We got duck feet for $.99 each. Those same duck feet would cost us $2.50 at Petco. They have delicious smelling vanilla, cinnamon bully sticks. They smelled wonderful, and my dogs LOVED them. My cats have been on Primal frozen food since they were little guys. When I moved to Boise the only retail store that had Primal was H3. So even if H3 was lame, I really didn't have much choice. However the staff is so darn helpful, the store is super clean and it's well stocked with all the best pet goodies and their prices are competitive. Props. Now there are other retailers who sell Primal but I'm sticking with H3. They lose a star for location, but don't let that stop you from popping in and picking up something for your fuzzy friends. read more

I started going to H3 pets when I walked in, from a bike ride, with my Great Dane. I wanted to get quality, non-processed dog treats. I usually go to big, well known, pet store corporations for those soft 'bacon bites' dog treats. The owner or manager gave me 4 heaping scoops of randomly, fun flavored of treats for free to try. They gave me oatmeal cookie, peanut butter, cheddar liver flavor, and the coolest one for when my dog has an upset stomach was the 'charcoal' dog treats. I tried their dog food but it just didn't work for my Dane, and that's not to say it isn't high quality. The staff is genuinely friendly in a laid back way. Oh yeah and the prices are definitely not marked up and are super reasonable. read more

Wow isn what i can say about my first experience shopping here! I went in looking for a specific brand of dog food, and while they had the brand it was a gigantic bag that i did not want to commit to buying that much yet for my newly adopted senior pug! I believe it was the owner who helped me and he was so knowledgeable and easily suggested another brand of food in a smaller bag to try! He let me know that thy have a 100% satisfaction guarantee and if my pug doesn't like the food we can bring it back for a refund! He also gave me a loyalty card where every time we purchase a bag of dog food the card gets marked and our 12 bag is free! I then asked for suggestions on dog bones and was educated on the different types and what's good and bad! They also gave me a big bag full of different treats for my dogs for free! We are from SLC and had been looking for the Puppia brand harnesses for our dogs. We were in the Boise area for the weekend and I did a web search out of curiosity just to see if any stores there carried the brand since all the places in SLC that carried Puppia had very little selection of the harnesses. I found H3 and we decided to stop by and see what they had. I was very surprised at all the different types of Puppia harnesses they had and the awesome selection. Not only that, but they have a huge selection of toys and really good dog food as well. The staff are so friendly and helpful too.
