Liege is the type of city that you have to know the special places to go because they won't pop out in front of you. It was by mere luck that we ran across this lovely bakery and dessert lounge. We walked into Patisserie Jean Pierre and completely fell in love with the place. I felt like I was in wonderland. It's nothing but assorted pastries, chocolates, and plenty of other sweets to get lost in for the moment. We ordered hot chocolate, along with pies, pies and pies. The hot chocolate and desserts was magnificent!

Also we expected freshly made waffles in addition to the stuffed ones ( taste of the stuffed one was decent). My best advice: go across the street, it looks less chic but has a lot more local customers and seems to be more accepting of people in general.

I got the classic vanilla waffle and coconut chocolate covered marshmallow to try, and the waffle was perfectly soft; warm, pillowy and slightly crunchy on the outside. The coconut marshmallow was alright, it was nothing amazing, just a chocolate covered marshmallow on a biscuit/cookie. The worker I spoke to, a blonde man, was so patient and happy to explain what each dessert was even though it was so busy! Definitely a must visit/try in Liège!

You order outside while they are making the waffles and they are ready in a couple of minutes. Flavors include: vanilla (regular), chocolate infused (small bar of chocolate is inserted into a warm waffle and it melts) or cinnamon. I took the vanilla and was happy to report it's the best waffle I've had! For about 2 or 2.50eur, you can't beat this as an afternoon snack!

Walked by, saw so many sweets on display, how could one not resist? Cute displays of Liege waffles (looked like they won an award before), macarons, cakes, all colorful and inviting. I walked inside the shop just to admire more. Shop person didn't speak much English but said welcoming greetings in French. We don't need to speak the same language to feel welcomed. I really wanted to try their waffles but it was getting too close to lunch time. I purchased a dozen macarons to take home. I also really wanted to try their cakes, but I couldn't take home. I gave a dozen macarons to my friend when I got home and she really enjoyed them. I wish my French was fluent to express my gratitude to them with more words. I was really stressed at that time. Been surrounded by so many colorful sweets and their friendly smiles, they helped me become less tense. I left the shop with smiles, all I could say to them was "Merci beaucoup".

The choice in flavors is some of the most diverse I have seen, but I couldn't find anything that stood out or something that I haven't tried before. I tried the chocolate flavor and it had a sort of synthetic artificial flavor to it. The other members of my entourage didn't think much of their ice creams either. On the presentation front, the display just lures you in. Too bad they don't actually serve such a presentation. I am talking elaborate decorations, sauces, and patterns here. The cones are fresh and warm. The scoop sizes are normal and the prices aren't too bad. I just feel that the ice cream is mostly built for hype.
