Everything went well here. First of all the waitress, Bridgette, was amazing. We even got a hug when we left. Keven makes a mean spicy margarita. The chimi's are real, deep fried not baked. This restaurant has always been hit or miss, but lately it has been more miss than hit. Today it took over a half an hour to get my order out to the table. I finally just said please make it to go, as it was taking SO LONG. Ordered steak rare and eggs, over easy. Eggs and steak are terribly overcooked. Holy Guacamole! We camp in nearby Summit during the summer and came across Habanero's last year. Thoroughly enjoyed the food and service. Returned this year and were shocked by the price increases. I understand inflation, and everything has gone up some, but a California Burrito for $29.95? Somethings seriously wrong in Milbank. We ate a couple cheaper items, the Pollo Fundido and one of the combination plates. Very small portion of the Fundido, and almost no sauce on the enchilada and burrito in the combo. Add in not being checked on until the meal was consumed, no drink refills. Just here's your check. Difficult to say we won't be back because we used to enjoy coming in, but we'll skip Habanero's from now on. read more

When we I travel to a new town for work, I always seek out the Mexican restaurants and let me tell you, this one does not disappoint. In fact, I have only eaten out twice since arriving here and both times have been to Habaneros! I didn't get pictures of my first time ordering from here. I had ordered the shrimp tacos to go and when I opened them in my hotel room I couldn't help but to dive right in. They were so good! A 5 out of 5 for sure on these! Best I've had anywhere! This time I decided to eat in. When I arrived it was self seating. There was Mexican music playing which sounded nice. I was attended to pretty quickly however one reason for the 4 of 5 stars was that the workers stood in the back near the bar and kept looking at me while I sat there the entire time I was there which was an uncomfortable feeling. I'm sure it was odd maybe seeing someone sitting alone but still. I had a great server. A young fella who I think may have been new but did a wonderful job. The bar area is huge and fully stocked. I ordered a lime margarita. They do have a variety of flavors to choose from. The margarita was just okay. I really couldn't taste any alcohol in it which was disappointing to me. It really just tasted like the mix. I had only ordered one while I was there but I would try it again though to see if it was just a mistake. The chips were fine but I found the salsa to just be pretty standard and kind of bland. My burrito though, this was Fantastic! I love spice and this didn't disappoint. I couldn't believe how big and stuffed it was! Very filling! I would go back again just for this burrito, however I will still go back because after tasting how good my last two entrees have been, I want to try more! My 2nd visit was just as awesome as the first. I had the shrimp tacos and they were delicious. I have had Mexican Food from San Diego. LA and SF. Arizona Georgia, Colorado, Lake Tahoe, and Nevada and to find this great restaurant in Milbank SD was a gem of a find. Could have used a refill on my Pepsi but the service was quick and friendly. Some of the worst " mexican" food I've tried. The enchiladas are wildly expensive and dont come with beans and rice. The mear is so salty the sauce is terrible. It tastes like they just put tomato paste ontop. They will laugh at you if you tell them the food is bad. I asked for their wifi password and said they dont have wifi. They lied about that and wouldnt give me the password. Me and a bunch of other co workers wont be going back. Whoever said they are good cooks are clearly lying. Im from texas and mexican american. For Mexican food in Milbank, SD, Habanero's is pretty tasty. That said, they do a more authentic Mexican food than you'll get from your chain family-Mexican restaurant. The fajitas are wonderful, as are the enchiladas. My child has endorsed the place as having the best quesadillas ANYWHERE, and that's saying something. We'll be back. read more

Very clean. I was in the business for 15 years, and this restaurant was every bit as clean the restaurants I ran and the standard that all restaurants should be held. Bathroom was impeccable, dining area was spotless, and when I stepped back into the kitchen to give my thanks to the owner, I was blown away. Looked like a hospital with the organization and cleanliness. Food was good, and my special request for items that weren't on the menu was granted and superseded my expectations. The food is good, as far as the entrees go. But they are very cheap on the chips and salsa. We and another couple (so two different dining parties) went there last week and we got one small basket of chips, that was only about two-thirds full for the four of us. To get a second basket costs $2.50. Are you kidding me?!? Most restaurants that serve chips and salsa serve unlimited chips and salsa. First off... I love Mexican cuisine above any other. If I've had a bad day, my go to comfort food is Mexican. This is not Taco Bell or Taco John's and thank goodness it's not. This is a gem of a place in small town Milbank and everyone owes it to their taste buds to come here. The hardest part was choosing which deliciously crafted item to choose!!! Mr. had the Chimichanga with ground beef which he describes and well seasoned and perfectly deep fried. Which means to say it was crisp, but not overly so. Comes with rice and beans where again perfectly seasoned. I had the California Burrito with the grilled steak. I had a heck of a time choosing what to get though! Others recommend the Carne de Asada, and I wanted to try the Pirate Plate, however the burrito was calling mè llamo. The steak had fantastic flavor which was accented by the grilled onions inside and covered in a white cheesy blanket of heaven. The chips and salsa were also a hit. You guessed it, this place is a home run!!! Hope it stays in business for years to come. Service was excellent and food came out fast.
