I want to give it more but I mean it's nearly a ghost town so you can tell the town is in a depression Nothing is maintained anywhere in the town not a single restaurant is very nice I suppose besides the brand new Burger King but for some very delicious authentic Mexican this is it portions are not Americanized and maybe that's a good thing anyways really good food and I left a decent tip for the server who is maybe. Howdy Y'all. I stopped in here today at 1500hrs, hungry enough to eat the *ss out of a dead polecat! The only place open downtown was Habanero's. Seen the low rating and wondered WTH was up because the parking out fron was full & restaurant was packed (always a trusted sign of good food). Walked in, greeted immediately and was sat at a table. Place was packed, table and floor was very clean. Waitress came over, brought chips n salsa (complimentary). Chips were hot and crisp. Salsa was perfect, not watery, fresh and tasty. Order CFS. Ordered arrived quickly. Good size w/fries and small salad. Loved it. Great oilfield spot or hungry Yelpers coming off Interstate. Not sure why all the whining but don't worry about them snowflakes. This is the real deal. Solid food and service and reasonably priced, even in an oilfield town (try Odessa, if you don't know what I mean). I'll be back. If you think I'm full of baloney - read my other reviews: I don't hold back, been around the world a few times and will roast a place if it's a dump. This place was 5 stars, a rare treat in this area and worth the trip! read more

100% TERRIBLE. Bland stale chips, boring salsa, fajitas were burnt to a crisp and super greasy. They also don't make their own tamales. The service matched the food so don't expect much. I had high hopes for this place since I love to support local but I should have known better when only one other table was occupied. DAMN!!!! This place has so much potential. read more

Nothing fancy, but decent Tex-Mex. I had a combo plate with a chile relleno and two cheese enchiladas with green sauce. Complimentary chips and salsa before the meal. Our chips were a little overcooked, but the salsa was tasty. Not many choices in Monahans. read more

Worst food I've ever paid for & not even ate! If I can give a review of -20 it would be for this place. The food tasted sour and when we asked the waitress she replied that everyone says the same thing about the beans and rice tasting sour. The carne asana was heavily floured slop. I feel bad for the waitress because she clearly had her apology down before I could even finish my sentence which tells me a lot. If you're wanting to throw $40 away this is the place to do it because you will only be able to eat the chips with salsa and drink! I have to be honest and warn those traveling looking for a good meal like we were. This is not a good place at all! read more

Dang, why the hate?! Went here today for lunch and from first impressions, thought the place was decorated quite tastefully... cute, rustic, well lit and not dingy and not sticky - a huge plus in my book! Service: Drinks were refilled quickly (not that we needed them really - the glasses were HUGE!) and I think there was just one waitress for the whole cafe... but she was on top of things! Despite one of our party ordering an enchilada a la carte and then modifiying and "specializing" it, they got it 100% accurate. Chips & Salsa: Chips could have been more salty, but salsa had a great kick to it. Entree: I had the enchilada plate with 3 chicken enchiladas and green sauce, served with rice beans and "salad" (small pile of shredded iceberg with some chopped tomatoes). Chicken enchiladas with green sauce is pretty much what I order any time I try a new Mexican place, and these were good. Smothered in a flavorful green sauce that was actually green, not all creamy and fakey, my enchiladas were also covered with real, shredded cheese not the Velveeta-type of queso typically seen out here in TX. I loved the chicken inside - so often the chicken in enchiladas is shredded, tough, stringy and dry - not here. Chunks of tender, moist chicken.. could have used more spice, but then again, I like spicy and was expecting more after how hot the salsa was. :) Rice was standard, beans could have used more flavor, but truthfully - I had less appetizing food when I was IN THE HEART OF MEXICO CITY, MEXICO in February! The service couldn't have been friendlier and was super fast (maybe because we were guests of a local?) and the food was pretty good, too. ;) Overall, there are definitely Mexican places I like better, but as most of them are in California and I am not, this was decent. I'm very picky on my Mexican food and I love this place! I love their taco dinner plate.

Given the choice between starving and eating I stopped here while at the dunes. I am still thinking if I made the right decision. The people where very nice and welcoming to me although it was clear I was not from there. I got the food to go due to a group of roughnecks stares. Sooo hungry. Open mouth and put in what seemed to be outhouse remains disguised as Mexican food. I had to keep eating there was nothing else so this was it. I honestly feel more bad for all the towns folk with nothing else to eat. They seemed to enjoy it though so oh we'll. I mean in the middle of nowhere what else can u do? Eat sand? read more

Gosh! We eat here often & really like it. Beautifully decorated & Sandra's the best waitress you'll find anywhere. & no I'm not an owner or relative of anyone who works here. My favorites are the Teresa Special, chips & salsa, & tea. They have a buffet that's awesome as well. read more
