We tried this new restaurant a week ago on a weekday and it was fairly busy around 12:30 pm. We ordered at the counter after a wait of several minutes and then sat down and waited for the food. We had the Falafel Hashweh which was plenty for lunch and moderately spicey. The hummus with homemade pita was very tasty. The staff were friendly and welcoming, but the kitchen was quite slow and we had to wait for quite awhile for our food. It seemed to us that the kitchen could do with an extra person during peak hours. The decor has Middle Eastern motifs and the furniture is comfortable, but basic. There are only about 5 tables indoors so the place can fill up in a hurry. There is an outdoor patio where you can also be served, but it would benefit by having umbrellas or a large awning to provide shade during the summer. The tables out there are low and small so larger tables would also help. Overall, Habibis is a nice addition to the restaurant scene in Courtenay, but unless they get more kitchen staff or you go during slow periods, be prepared to wait. One drawback is that their online presence so far is only a Facebook account which, if you're not a Facebook user, means that you can't access their website or read their menus. read more
