Folks, do not be fooled by those "old" favorable reviews that were done by their managers…read more........ TODAY, in the year 2026, I can tell you that this is NOT the reasonable "THRIFT" store they used to be and they use Christianity as a front for simple GREED and explotation of customers........ The new manager "Ashley", who was fired from the old Youth Challenge Thrift Store in Hilton, that has since moved to Williamsburg, for "money continually coming up short". But, amazingly, TROY, the manager from the main office, hired her after she got fired, and they both have quite a scam going with ridiculously high prices on everything looking up items on their "phones" and putting the first jacked up price someone "wanted" for an item, but didn't sell......from years ago ads.... But, the clincher is "CROOKED TROY" has gotten mean and nasty with customers when they question the ripoff prices displaying a nasty attitude instead of being professional, but he is a "Christian'??...Yeah, right! He fired the former manager "SHAWN", for absolutly NO reason. Shawn was nice and put fair prices on items, but TROY did this just to hire "CROOKED ASHLEY".. I wonder how they can afford their nice cars they drive?......Former employees have told customers that TROY and ASHLEY have a nice racket going on manipulating the "financials", if you know what I mean, and have been doing so for quite awhile, and The Rescue Mission "BOARD", Administrators and CEO do NOT know about this!......Maybe, they should!!.......They both are getting RICH, while the people, who are supposed to be helped, and honest customers, get gouged and taken advantage of. Again, this is NOT the fair, nice thrift store of the past.....It is now just an overpriced, embarassing, disgusting and crooked business, using religion to fleece customers.........Go look at the prices for yourself! BEWARE OF RESCUE MISSION THRIFT.........CROOKS! GRADE = F

Visited the store on 5/2/26 . I believe the man ringing up sales is a crook and a bold face liar…read more We finished shopping and went to casher. The total was 51 dollars which seemed a bit high to both of us. There was a line behind us so we paid and returned to our car. We laid everything out and checked our receipt . There were three charges we didnt have mechandise for. Two three dollar charges and one five dollar charge. None of our purchases were 3 dollars or 5 dollars. We went back inside and questioned the male cashier and he claimed " things pile up and sometimes he rings them twice". How do you ring up something twice when it was never there in the first place. Upon hearing our complaint he was very eager to return our 11 dollars and have us leave. I wonder how many times this happens to other people. My advise to everyone shopping there is to check your receipt before you leave the store.

We have been regular here for just over 6 years, the last 3 with our VA prescribed service dog,…read moreCapt'n Jack. Today was an attack on us and the Captain. As soon as we walked in we were attacked, attacked, by a clerk and said if our service dog made a mess we must clean up after him. Well, that would be a huge infraction of a service dog and we showed her 2 different supplies to do clean up (meant for outside). After the assault ( if was pretty aggressive and demeaning). I asked to speak with someone who is in charge. She said she was. But then said later she would get her "boss". We were confronted with Elaine, it turns out she is the president of the 501 c 3 (and her husband is the secretary). President Elaine very much was the mid 50's heavy height, woman with a chip on her shoulder and demanded I change my attitude. "Loose the attitude." Seems to be her pet phrase. I'm an American Citizen and US Army Veteran. I have 1st amendment rights just as "Mrs. Loose the attitude Elaine" does.Elaine demanded we leave if we couldn't provide our service dog's "papers." There are none. That doesn't exist. Google it.Google it. And if she had done a quick google... I gave her my VA card which showed I'm service disabled. 93%. Meanwhile, my service dog did as my Dr's suggested trainer, TADSAW, trained him to do as I'm having a PTSD Panic attack, jump up in my arms and lick my face. Later he alerted me to take my medications for migraines. My partner agrees we need to take this to the federal government. Any quick google search will show what can and cannot be asked of a person with a service dog, let alone a US Army 93% veteran. The ADA fine is up to $75,000. Plus I've been advised to contact the DOJ and personal injury attorney. I served my country (4 yrs) and followed my VA medical directive and have a dog trained for 3 years. Capt'n Jack keeps me alive. Do a Google search. There are only two questions that can be legally asked of someone with a service dog. None of them are "papers." You can't ask for "papers" because there is no such thing. There are no national papers. You can't ask my disability. Which she did and I told her. She asked why I'm disabled! Korea in 1987/89. Rushed by North Koreans and in 2 anti-American riots in Seoul while protecting a field grade officer and having North Koreans march through Advance Warrior Base II during the Olympic games, 2 bus accidents while on duty to 2nd ID. We have benefitted from Parish in the past. Now, I don't want to leave my house. Period. Their board could contact a lawyer for advice. We are making a formal ADA complaint, $75000 fine and DOJ complaint and interviewing injury lawyers for no less than $1.5 million. Do a google search Mrs. President Eleane. A simple google search. What can a store ask for of a person with a service dog. But I think you will find out from the ADA and DOJ and the lawyer of my choice.
