But an ice storm the day prior wiped out the power and the memorial had to be moved to another location. How was I going to find another funeral home that would actually have an open room and make it ready for a viewing with a large group of people expected? I was unraveling, with the emotions that come with having just lost my father, with only 2 1/2 hours before people were supposed to begin arriving, and no where to go! I was referred to Querfeld Funeral Home. When I called, I spoke with Cheryl, one of the owners and explained my problem. She spoke with her husband, Bill, and immediately they began the process of cleaning and preparing their large room. It had just been used the day before, and though they had to rush their staff, they still made it happen. The price they quoted me was surprisingly inexpensive as well. When I arrived, it was simply perfect. Everything. Flowers were set up, the TV was prepared for our photo slides, there were plenty of chairs, and it was bright and cheerful. There was also a room downstairs with a frig for our food when we needed to rest and eat something. Bill and Cheryl simply went above and beyond for us! I simply cannot thank Querfeld Funeral Home enough!!!

But in all that, Martensons Family Pet Services made sure my babies were cared for uniquely and with genuine care. This review has been a long time coming. Dealing with the loss of a pet is difficult. I've had the unfortunate pleasure of using Martensons Family Pet Services twice in 3 years. Most recently, this past November our baby, Phineas, had to make his walk across the rainbow bridge. My husband and I were a wreck. Struggling with this decision we knew we needed to make, living through the experience of his passing, and trying not go insane with grief was and is a battle i struggle with still. But, Donnie... Donnie was something else. He cared for my little man with immense care and walked us through the process with such kindness and empathy. Donnie had told us that he, too, understood our heartbreak as he was grieving the loss of his own pet within that last month. Donnie understood exactly where we were mentally and did everything he could to provide us with the least amount of stress and worry. Donnie took it upon himself to even bring my baby back home to me the same day. We are forever grateful for that. I will miss Phineas for the rest of my life. Thank you Donnie for all your help during that unfortunate time and thank you Martenson's Family Pet Services for bringing such a wonder person to help people in their time of grief.

They were so helpful with recommendations with keeping our feelings foremost. At the actual mass the director notice I had not said my goodbye to my mother as she laid in state. He made sure that I did and never made feel rushed. They were there every step of the way from collecting my mother's body to laying her to rest at the cemetery. Again They never rushed us in anyway, giving us time to grieve in our own way Thank you to all the people at Martenson. I would use them again in a heart beat

Last year, my Mom and I went to visit Santeiu, as my Mom was elderly and declining, and I begged her not to leave all those decisions up to me at the last minute. We were so lucky to meet with Anne Santeiu-Ellis. She was caring and kind, and not at all pushy. Even though we were discussing the planning for, and purchasing of, end-of-life items and services, Anne has a soothing, calming voice and manner that helps you stay calm instead of becoming sad and hysterical. We picked out Mom's casket and vault, which made me feel better, because now I knew that my Mom was going to be buried in the casket of her own choosing. And her headstone would say exactly what she wanted. Anne called Acacia cemetery and let us know what their procedures and costs would be. Considering that no one wants to think of death and dying and funerals, Anne walked us through it in a compassionate way that made us feel relieved in making our choices in advance. Bless my Mom for having chosen in advance the outfit she wanted to be buried in. My Mom died on June 16, 2023. Brandy Carter assured us that she would treat my Mom with the utmost in respect and dignity. She washed and styled my Mom's hair as my sister had asked, and also painted Mom's fingernails red to match her outfit. They did indeed, dress my Mom in everything exactly as asked. This helped us to feel considerably relieved. John Ellis, III, let my sister and I spend time with my Mom before leaving for the cemetery. He was gracious and compassionate, which also helped with our grief. Everyone we met at Santeiu was kind and caring. I am so happy that everything went smoothly, with no arguing or hard feelings. Life itself seems like nonstop arguing over everything, and most people encountered nowadays don't seem to care about anyone except themselves. We appreciated that Santeiu treated us so thoughtfully, caringly, and compassionately. They understood that my Mom was deeply loved, that she had existed, and that her life had mattered. They definitely helped make a sad situation more bearable. Thank you to everyone at Santeiu. There is a photo of the flowers in her casket spray that I posted in the Google Reviews. I was not able to attach it here. My Mom had silk flowers all around the house, and I thought it would be lovely if we could use her silk flowers in the casket spray. My sister found "A Budding Florist," only 2 blocks away from Santeiu, and Sal agreed to work with our silk flowers. The arrangement he created was absolutely beautiful, and we couldn't have been happier. We are happy that her beautiful silk flowers were buried with her. If you have silk flowers you would like used in your funeral ceremony, please contact Sal at A Budding Florist. My Mom's name is Letitia Anna Vezane. Please see her obituary at the Santeiu website.

They are compassionate and always finding a way to help grieving families. They are flexible and creative. Finally I must say they are really good neighbors. As someone who lives in Dearborn I'm impressed at how the expectations are stated that all staff are to be involved as public leaders in the local community where they serve as local funeral directors. Compassion, servcice and excellence are what they value as funeral directors.

As soon as they saw there was a trust and that my husband's family would be paying for everything, they excluded me from all arrangements. I had to force myself into the process to have any say at all. My husband wanted to be cremated. I agreed to release him into the hands of Howe-Peterson because his family all reside in MI and there was a family plot where he could rest next to his grandmother. Once I agreed to release him, within a matter of hours there was an online obituary (my husband was adamant about not having an obit and I have that in writing), the services were scheduled...a religious service and my husband was not religious and resented every aspect of his Lutheran upbringing. I had to ask for the obit to be changed to include the other important members of his life - not just his cats who passed, but his 2 furbabies (dogs) that he loved and cared for, because they weren't even mentioned. After I contacted the funeral director to let him know I was being excluded, I was able to provide my husband's suit, pictures of our life on a thumb drive for a slide show (they had only previously made arrangements for his family to provide framed photos), his jewelry, the ashes of his cherished cat who passed, and I asked for a lock of his hair. I was assured that these items would be returned directly to me or a member of my family as there were now some issues between myself and his family that were coming to light. It was later discovered, at the cemetery, where the funeral director was nowhere to be found, that the funeral home had in fact given all my items directly to his family. They put me and my family in a position to have to fight to get back things that his family had absolutely no right to and no interest in, during an already highly emotional time. I received a call indicating that they have sent the items through overnight mail after they received the items back from the family, so they followed through in ensuring I receive the items back in my possession, however this never should have happened. In addition, my place of employment (people that knew my husband) sent a flower arrangement to be displayed at the service and they rejected it on behalf of my husband's family! Who does that?? Absolutely disgusting. It seems that with Howe-Peterson, they only care about who has the money and that is who they answer to and take direction from. If you're the surviving spouse who only wants to honor the wishes of your loved one, forget it. You don't matter.

Anyways, my sister and I were in pursuit of the grave of my older twin brothers that passed away just after their birth, back in the day when the early born didn't stand as much of a chance as they do today. We stopped in the office after looping the Cemetery and finding we just weren't sure which "treed corner" we remembered visiting when we were younger and came with our parents. The gentlemen quickly looked up the information and reminded us they are located in the "old baby area". This was a sad thought that they could reserve an area for babies. He was efficient and friendly and marked a small map for us then pointed us in the general direction. We were on our way and quickly found the grave. Many of them have sunk and really could use some maintenance. The cemetery itself is beautiful with an amazing assortment of trees and flowers. Everything was pretty neat and decorated nicely. We cleaned off our brothers grave of grass clippings, leaves and the the rest of Mother natures debris. Then we roamed a little and checked out other names, dates and markers. Very nice Cemetery, I think me and the family would visit more often if they had a corner bar area, of course NOT next to the baby area! It was a pretty fall day and my sister and I enjoyed our visit and nice memories.
