During the mushroom workshop, we toured the various places where he is growing edible mushrooms on his property, including wine cap mushrooms on wood chips and shitakes and oysters on logs. Then we inoculated logs ourselves by drilling, filling with mushroom spawn, and waxing. After the workshop, we felt confident enough to inoculate about 60 of our own logs the next spring. I also attended a food forest workshop, herb spiral workshop, and tours of the property. Michael is an excellent speaker with great ideas. The work he has done on his property and at other places (like Volt downtown) is beautiful and unique. I would highly recommend Ecologia's workshops and edible landscaping work.

When we had our deck built last year we were not sure how badly the rain drainage would make the area under the deck a mess. It had gotten quite problematic over the year. So we called in several contractors to seek their advice and only Fred Botsford of Metro Landscape and Construction provided a solution we felt confident in. He architected a drainage plan with several collection points and river rock to dress up the area. His crew did a fabulous job implementing the solution and we are extremely pleased. As we worked with Fred we also asked him to remove some plantings, re-plant grass, and completely re-do our front landscaping. Fred worked patiently with us as we decided on shrubs.
