I would highly recommend Hager Rentals. The staff in the office was always so nice and helpfu. Maintenance was always there within an hour or so if something needed fixed. I wish I could give zero stars. I rented a smelly duplex from them back in 2016. It was old and falling apart but it was cheap. I lived there over a year. Always paid my rent and fulfilled my lease before I moved out. My mom and I cleaned the apartment before we left, which didn't do much to help the state it was in. Then I recieved a random bill for $600 for pet damage. The place i was in didnt even allow pets but i was being charged that amount. I called them 3 times and everytime they couldn't even locate the papers from the walk through and kept telling me to call back. I finally called and got the owner and he too couldn't find the paperwork and told me not to worry about it, that he would take care of it. Years go by and I hear nothing. I recieve no letter. Then in 2019 I get a report on my credit for $245. I called them and they can't even find the paperwork for that. They told me its the amount they settled for from the $600. So I call the collection agency CBS and im told they will investigate it and if I dont hear anything back or recueve a letter I am good. They never did anything either. There is no reason for me to pay an amount over animals I couldn't even have for damage that never happened. Had they did one walk through while I lived there, they would've known it was just me. Im so disappointed in this company. They are greedy and lie. And I wouldn't recommend anyone to rent from them. Not unless you have a ton of money to blow once you move out. Thanks to them, I have to hold off on purchasing a house. I refuse to pay an amount for something that didn't happen. I spent 3 months trying to get my refund deposit check back after moving out. I called every day for weeks and all they would do is tell me i should've gotten it. It was absolutely ridiculous. They wouldn't direct deposit my check after writing me 2 separate ones that somehow never got to me and then when I did get my check, I had to go pick it up and they had taken off 40$ to cancel the check they sent that NEVER got to me. I would not recommend this apt. Also, If your air conditioning ever goes out, do not expect them to care or come out and fix it. My apt was 84 degrees and they told me it would have to wait until the next day because it wasn't an emergency. read more

My experience with Hager Rental has been anything BUT smooth. After renting with them for two years-- and living in crackhead city, they have treated both my roommate and I poorly. First of all, Hager Drive is a horrible neighborhood. We called the cops on our neighbors regularly and we witnessed drug use, child abuse, and animal abuse: just to name a few. Our neighbors were sketchy and as two college girls, we did not feel safe. Enough about the area. Lets get into the properties themselves. We stayed in a two bedroom one bathroom apartment. Rent was cheap as hell so we definitely enjoyed that aspect... You get what you pay for though. Our air conditioner broke several times over the summer. We had pipes explode and flood our downstairs TWICE, both times ruining the carpet. Hager assured us not to worry though, because the carpets would be replaced when we moved out. Maintenance was never timely and there were several times that the employees came into our space with no real reasoning. Upon moving out, we scrubbed the place from top to bottom: making it look MUCH better than it did when we moved in. We were fully expecting to receive our deposit back when we received a bill in the mail for over $1,000 for pet damage.... FOR THE CARPET! THAT WAS MESSED UP DURING THE FLOODING! Hager is full of slimey, creep owners who are full of empty promises and twisted morale. I absolutely wouldn't even recommend this place to even my worst enemy. STAY AWAY FROM HAGER! 0 STARS. I rented an apartment for 4 years. I was never late with a payment. Never had major problems. I left the apartment spotless, I vacuumed, cleaned all the cabinets, bathroom, patched all the holes in walls so they couldn't find any reason to keep my deposit. After 2 weeks I got a bill for $500! The letter said they found "about 10 bed bugs". I have never had bed bugs in my life, I would surely know I had them because they live in mattresses and bite. I also moved all the furniture to my new apartament and I DON'T HAVE BED BUGS. Plus, my husband finished environmental health science program so he definitely knows what is a bed bug. I went to the office to ask for further information. The front desk was rude, didn't even care to look what really happened in the apartament. They kicked me out and said to contact their lawyer. I sent an official letter to Hager to ask for written explanation. Never got a respond. I contacted their lawyer who said he would not talk to me. I got my lawyer, and what?? It has been 10 months and neither Hager nor their lawyer responded to me or my lawyer. They took $500, which was a pet deposit, and didn't even bother to contact me back. Stay away. They nice looking rentals, but they will screw you out of every dollar they can. Welcome you in with open arms and give you a bill for damages that either don't exist or where there from the get go, on the way out. read more
