You know you're in a bad place when it takes 11 phone calls to get a referral in, with different employees telling you that the other has no idea what they're talking about. Yes, talking down on how incompetent your coworkers are definitely sheds favorable light on you guys. Basically, I now officially hate going to the doctor, because that entails hours of headache while the offices are gaining hundreds/thousands of dollars. Also, if you complain about a simple pain, they'll refer you to multiple places, who will charge you thousands of dollars in procedures that aren't necessary, just to realize nothing is wrong, and they're just using you to bring the dough. read more

Today I had my first doctor's visit in quite a while (thank goodness for health insurance!), and I was really nervous about going to someone new. I had read the reviews on Yelp about Dr. Laura Picciano, so I tried to get an appointment with her. She was booked for 2 months, but there were other physicians at her practice, Hahnemann Internal Medicine, who could see me within a week. I decided to go with Dr. Jane Fitzpatrick and see what happened. When I arrived this morning, the front desk staff was friendly and very helpful. I got there about 15 minutes before my appointment time, and I was seen within 20 minutes. The nursing staff was as friendly as at any other practice I've ever been to. After being placed in a room, I only waited about 5 minutes for Dr. Fitzpatrick. She was extremely nice and listened to all of my complaints. She didn't make me feel like any problem was too big or too small. Her bedside manner was great, and she definitely took her time to talk with me. I had a very positive experience and I will definitely keep her as my GP. read more

I just graduated from college, so I needed a doctor that wasn't the Drexel Student Health Center. The woman on the phone was very nice- I was really sick and she was able to fit me in within two hours of my phone call. I showed up right on time and was in a room within 10 minutes. I am so glad I found Dr. Nina Cheung. She is amazing- super friendly and a wonderful doctor. The nurse who took my temp, blood pressure, etc was really nice and personable too. SOOOO happy I don't have to worry about having a doctor anymore. I'm going to Dr. Nina Cheung every time. read more

I seriously don't believe that you can find a better more caring set of drs. I have seen 3 of the Drs now in the office at various times and have been throughly impressed by the professionalism, caring, knowledgeable care. Dr. Nina Cheung is so sweet and patient. I had to bring my 2 small children into the visit for the first time and she was so good with them even though I know it was eating up some of my dr visit she didnt make me feel rushed or stressed out by having them there. Dr. Laura Picciano.....what can I say...Does it really get better than this? I have waited my whole life for an amazing Dr like her. She is so thorough, friendly, efficient, a great listener, knowledgeable, and i just dont think there is enough good words to say about her. The office is bright and fresh, the administrative staff courteous and professional. Howard Brooks, DO is a truly great physician. He has a warm and caring bedside manner and he always finds the underlying cause for my complaints. For example: yesterday morning I saw an ear, nose and throat specialist at Jefferson who told me my sore throat and earache were due to allergies and prescribed Flonase. I didn't buy it. He would've written an antibiotic to placate me, but without a diagnosed reason I didn't want it. I'm so glad I kept my appointment with Dr. Brooks for the afternoon, and he saw that my eardrum is bulging and inflamed because I have a middle ear infection! Dr. Brooks is also capable of conveying knowledge to you about your health, why certain medicines are better for particular bacteria/conditions, etc. He informs you in a truly helpful way that gives you a sense of having more understanding and control over your health. read more

I am giving this practice a two-star review mainly because the front desk and nursing staff has been so kind, friendly, and patient with me through what should actually be a very quick medical request and process. The cleanliness of the practice and friendly staff are the ONLY thing I have found so far making this practice worth 2 stars. I originally came back in November of 2013 to switch primary care physicians. I was seen promptly - maybe only waited about 10 minutes after finishing my paperwork. I saw Dr. Fitzpatrick, who was helpful and polite to me. I was there for a no-frills physical, she checked me out, gave me referrals to OBGYN and an Orthopedic doctor within the network, and everything went pretty smooth. I returned in very early February because I had lymph nodes that had popped up that were concerning me, and I suggested AT THE TIME I MADE THE APPOINTMENT I get an ultrasound to check out a chronic hip issue I'd been having. I was scheduled to meet Dr. Mehndi. By the time I arrived, my lymph nodes had somewhat increased in size and my hip pain had also worsened. She did not provide me with an ultrasound, despite that being the reason noted for my visit, and upon exam said, "those are lymph nodes, you are fine" yes, I know they are lymph nodes... I had mentioned I didn't want to necessarily go the MRI route because of my high deductible insurance, but may want to pursue it if symptoms worsen (they had become chronic at that point.) I felt the appointment was rushed and I was treated as if I had irrational worry about my symptoms (and am by no means that type of person, I'm pretty darn healthy all around). Fast forward a week, my chiropractor pulls me aside, whom I very much trust and respect, and tells me I should really consider MRI given my symptoms at the time. The lymph nodes became more apparent and my hip pain increased. Thus begins a MONTH LONG process and miscommunication series between myself and dr mehndi to try and communicate about my symptoms and order the proper tests. I will save everyone my tyraid by simply stating that I was not communicated with about decisions made about my healthcare nor did I feel my concerns were properly cared for by the doctor. There were countless missed calls, days between callbacks, and miscommunications (as it seemed) between Dr. mehndi and the front desk staff relaying information to me (not their fault). It was a total headache. I am now a patient at Rittenhouse Women's Wellness (Dr. McKnight), had my whole situation resolved in one visit and have felt very cared for and communicated with ever sense. read more

Read Colleen's review when looking for a PCP at Hahnemann. Had my first appointment with Dr. Fitzpatrick yesterday. I needed a new PCP as I had moved from another part of the state. The location is easy to reach via public transportation, my wait time was minimal and the staff was friendly. Dr. Fitzpatrick was down to earth, listened to what I said and was easy to talk with. I left with orders for overdue blood work and other exams. I feel like I achieved a good result in my switch from a former Dr. with whom I had an excellent relationship. Dr. Fitzpatrick is very kind and takes a lot of time with you. However, this practice has been a nightmare to go to. To make the story short, I got appointments at this practice and the women's health practice located in Hahnemann on the same day. I am new to the area so I needed new doctors . Went to women's health visit for my annual wellness visit and never saw a bill or had any issues(covered under insurance). A half hour later, I came for my annual primary care appt, which also should be covered under my insurance. I got a $600 bill in the mail from here since my visit was coded incorrectly and not as a primary care visit (even though I emphasized when I got there that I was there for my annual wellness visit). Also, I made sure with my insurance co when I scheduled that it was time for my next visit. It took 8 months for this practice and their billing company to get their stuff together to change my bill. I will never go to a Hahnemann office again. read more

The front desk staff with the exclusion of Rory, need a course in public relations. Friday May 17, 2013 I went to my regular appointment at the Pain Center across the street. After receiving several needles in my back and spine I went to get refills at the Walgreen's 2 doors away. I needed a new RX for one of my very important medications. In great pain I walked over to 231 N. Broad Street to ask the front desk staff if they could write a request for my Dr. for the RX. Jessica ask: Name- Elizabeth She the ask DOB: */**/****. she then ask "What Pharmacy" I said Walgreen's down the street. She ask "what's the phone number" ? Instead of looking behind he desk in her resource booklet that I know most RECEPTIONISTS have, they made me walk to the Pharmacy and walk back to the office to give them a phone number that they already knew. I believe the mean spirit I receive from them is because I mentioned to them one day that it was not very professional to discuss patients in the lobby for all to hear. The next time I encounter disrespect or unprofessional behavior, I will write a formal letter to their office manager or I may have to find another doctor in an office where i don't feel worse then I did before my visit. I have been a patient @ HIM for over 30 years. The doctors are great. My entire family belongs to this practice, it would be a shame to leave because of the mess that goes on in the lobby. read more
