The provider at the clinic and all other service that we have received at Allina Women's Health clinic had been impeccable, but her attitude really tarnished everything. She hanged up the phone on us as we were speaking and said the nurse should call instead. I hope there is better training of the support staff because patients really deserve better. I pray I could see how she documented that interaction. As a health care provider myself, it was appalling.

Dr. SCHOEL was a fabulous listener and was not the type of doctor to reply with typical memorized responses like a robot. She conversed like a caring person and the dialouge was not generic but targeted to the individual patient, me. She knew as I know each patient is different. We are not all the same. She was knowledgeable, kind, patient, understanding and great at explaining medical diagnosis AS well as surgical procedures in laymens terms. AND... WOW! I called Allina Champlin to see what was going on and was directed to file a complaint and was told that there was only 1 patient she saw ahead of me and they had no clue what happened. Was told she is not a regular Dr at the clinic, I dont care, I wasted 2 hours of my life and am still in the same boat now with my problem trying to get a new med since mine was all of a sudden discontinued and my primary is on vacation. Front desk staff is friendly and so helpful! Parking is abundant and there's a good drop off section in front of the doors for accessibility. Lots of seating inside to wait near specific doors for your doctor or in different department sections. There's also a gift shop & pharmacy, but I haven't used their services. My main decision in coming here is that it's a convenient location that holds my specialty needs and regular care needs. However, I'm not upset or disgruntled to have this be my healthcare home base.

I have been seeing Dr. Shen, my primary care provider, for the last 10-15 years. He is an amazing…read morephysician, and a wonderful person. He is very personable, always remembering my history, my family and the stressors in my life, both at home but more importantly, the stress I experience in my professional life. He understands that a physical diagnosis may have many other affects on the whole person. Dr. Shen always gives me a personal phone call when there are new test results, even if the results were all normal! He doesn't have someone else make the call, but makes the call himself! He is very kind, empathetic, and an amazing practitioner who gets not just the diagnosis but how that diagnosis may affect my life. I cannot sign off without mentioning the other clinic staff members as well. The staff are always friendly, helpful and treat everyone with respect. It is rare not to be greeted with a smile. In every department, staff are always efficient and respectful. If I call the clinic nurse-line, I know I will receive a return phone call. I don't have to sit and wonder. From my experience with HealthPartners Coon Rapids, I would highly recommend this clinic.

Called to make a follow-up lab visit for a UTI that was diagnosed at a Minute Clinic and where I…read morewas advised to see my regular clinic after completing treatment. I was given an appt, showed up, and was told that there were no orders for lab tests. I showed my Minute Clinic papers and they did not even take a photo copy of them. I was told that my dr was on vacation, so come back in 4 days. Not a good answer. Then I was told to make an appt at Urgent Care. Ridiculous, not urgent. I was told to wait for a nurse. I waited 20 minutes more. No nurse came. Then I was told that I could get a phone appt with a different dr 90 minutes later. A phone appt would not suffice for a lab (urine) test. And they did not copy the orders/recommendations from Minute Clinic. I left.

I was at the hospital supporting a close friend during a relapse in their sobriety while already physically exhausted and emotionally overwhelmed. Instead of compassion, I was met with disrespect. A nurse called me a "bad friend" because my friend had relapsed. I was also told I could not have a glass of water because "we aren't here for you," which felt cruel and dehumanizing. I was also deeply disturbed by the doctor who appeared visibly upset. He was argumentative, shaky, very red in the face and smelled strongly of cologne. He made me feel unsafe as a medically fragile person. Hospitals should provide compassion and dignity. That is not what I experienced. I left feeling humiliated and deeply upset.

As it was quite unflattering, I can understand why they would wish it to not be seen. Yet... how then does one warn others about the horrible experience (s)... yes.. that is plural, so not an isolated incident by any stretch. I would suggest that anyone think twice, have people with who can witness the treatment for you and keep records of what they do. HIPPA - is obviously not something they care about in the slightest. In fact, they simply "could care less about patient's"... they violate ethical norms, HIPPA laws and endanger lives all without batting an eye. If you have the nerve to question them.... Well then... retaliation can be expected, but no answers as to why they don't follow the rules nor the laws. It is blatant and to the point where it is just their way of doing things snd they feel it is normal to do. I was told that "this is the new normal lady, get used to it". I have no doubt that the nurse who said that was just being honest. This has gotten worse over the last year and should be investigated - if any agency cared. I seriously doubt they do as it is ongoing. Our nations healthcare system is failing us. And or government oversight that should deal with it is allowing it to escalate. People will be harmed. When will the harm be substantial enough for anyone to bother addressing it. In the mean time, you have people breaking the laws and providing substandard care without oversight. Don't subject yourself to potential harm if you don't have to.

I had a horrible experience with this doctor, she was rude and condescending. She lied to me twice…read moreabout potential conditions during my appointment, luckily I knew enough to call her on it right there and then, at which point she merely changed her answer. She would not listen to all of my symptoms or history. She went through the effort of accessing a record through another clinic that she felt was necessary to comment on, but acted like she could not access her clinics own records because she was trying to brush me off after I caught her in that lie. My prior records from her own clinic would have further contridicted her conclusions. Though another provider through the same clinic recommended seeking her opinion Dr. Nelson treated my presence and concerns like a joke. She is an older doctor and is clearly set in her ways and she strongly pigeonholes people. If you do not strongly meet the criteria for a condition she will not consider the possiblility that you have it. Rarely do people have every symptom of a disease. This is how people get mis-diagnosed and die!
