I was surprised I haven't reviewed this place yet because I go quite frequently. However, I typically get the same thing.... the Erica bowl. Although it's only an appetizer it's definitely enough as a meal. It's amazing! I've tried a few of the rolls before and they are fine (haven't had anything special), and I haven't tried the hibachi yet. The restaurant itself is very pretty, and I love how they bring you soup before your meal. The first time I ever came here I thought the service was really awkward. We had about 4 different people serve us throughout the 45 minutes we were there. We felt rushed bc towards the end they were trying to take our drinks away lol. OMG I love this place! It is so low key and chill in there and they have amazing service. Food was amazing and I enjoyed my roll so much! My friends and I got the veggies udon noodles and it was so big and a perfect size to share between the three of us. Also, it's so hard to find a place with amazing or favorful clear soup. I love sushi and I love the comfort of going to a trusted spot. So when I saw Haiku I was not over-motivated to try "the new place." However, I am soooo glad I did. First, the decor is awesome. It's bright, clean, and not gawdy. The colors are vibrant. Then, the service is exceptional. You only wait a short time before you are eating, and I mean a short time. Finally, the food is awesome. I took my daughter and 3 friends here for a birthday dinner. This was my 3rd visit. In the past, I was not very impressed. However, tonight's meal at the Hibachi table was fantastic. I am not sure if ownership or chefs changed recently. The food was excellent! Well flavored and plentiful. My daughter and her friends were highly entertained by our chef. My wife and I both have been here multiple times and food and service have been excellent. We usually get hibachi and sushi.

I've never been to the restaurant but I get their hibachi steak and chicken delivered all the time and it is sooo good. The steak is always cooked right and everything is always great. My only complaint is I always put "lots and lots of yum yum" but they never send enough UPDATE: I didn't realize there was a way to add more sauce to your order on waitr, so now I've got all the yum yum I need. I'm going to start this off by saying maybe I shouldn't be so dumb and should probably speak up for myself more often, but in this situation we were both at fault I guess, but I'm still going to share. I've ordered takeout from here multiple times and every time I tip. I ordered last night and when I went to pick it up the woman behind the counter told me it was $30, I handed her two 20 dollar bills. As far as I know they do not add their own gratuity or at least never have before. She puts my money in the register and it shows on the screen that she owes me $10. I'm 18 so I'm assuming she saw a teenager and just immediately thought I wasn't going to tip and decided to tip herself $5, but I had already put a tip in the tip jar. But of course it didn't register in my head that she didn't give me the right amount of change until I grabbed my food and was walking out and due to my social anxiety I couldn't speak up and say something. I blame myself for not saying anything and went back and forth on writing this review or not, but ultimately decided to because regardless of if I spoke up or not they should say that they add their own gratuity or give me the right amount of change back. read more

Who can explain Covington LA and why such a gem of a sushi bar exists here? Had a spectacular sashimi lunch. What I have discovered in my travels is that when a good sushi place is located where it should not be and you order something exotic the chefs go bonkers. All of the locals at the place (busy lunch hour)were wolfing down California rolls, hibachi and tempura--I was the only one that ordered the raw bait plate. It was just incredible. Five stars for this place, if you are making an I-10 pilgrimage that takes you past the Covington exit, lunch or dinner cannot be beat at Haiku. Keep in mind that NOLA and the GoM are less than an hour away so their stuff is FRESH! read more

That was until I opened my box of food... my steak hibachi was literally dryer than the Sahara dessert and only like 5-6 cut up pieces of steak. This is my 2nd time here. They have a 10.00 lunch special that includes soup, salad and your choice of 2 sushi rolls. They give you a lot of choices not like other places. The soup is clear soup. So I had previously rated Haiku as a solid 5 stars. Sushi was fresh and top quality. However, the last 2-3 orders we have placed (via waiter) have been sub par at best. I'd put the last few rolls slightly behind what you get next door at Winn Dixi, and at least the Winn Dixi rolls are a little bigger... My fiancé is a UPS driver so his hours are pretty long so we looked for a place that stayed open late for our date night. Their hours of business are listed as 11am - 12 am on Fridays on Yelp. We got there at 9pm and was not informed that they were closing at 10pm until after our appetizers and drinks were already served. I work in restaurants and know how it can be frustrating to have to wait on one table to leave, so we probably wouldn't have dined in if we knew/ it wasn't a full restaurant.... but I have never had service this bad and unwelcoming. We were completely rushed the whole time we were dining and pushed out before 9:50. We barley had time to look at the menu, let alone speak to each other. They were very rude, standing around us, staring and coming up to us multiple times for the check/ tip but wouldn't give us a moment to speak to us or even let us apologize and explain why we came in an hour before closing. Very unaccommodating, the whole staff was pushing us to leave before they were closed. This was a horrible experience and We won't be back, and will recommend anyone we know not to go either. read more
