Susan explained what she was doing every step of the way. When I had my new highlights, the haircut began! She was like wizard! My hair was flying all over! She measured, then cut, combed, and cut, parted my hair this way and that to make sure the cut was even and perfect! But as those faded, she was left with a not so terrific highlights and would just wear it in a ponytail. Recently she started getting frustrated with styling and began buying different expensive shampoo / conditioners but nothing worked. When I suggested she get it done again, she wanted to try someone new. She found Susan through groupon and decided to give her a try as she was local and had a spot open the following week. When I returned to pick up my wife she looked great and was so happy with her new color and look and couldn't stop smiling. While this is at least $20 more than I've been charged at other Adveda salons (6 mos ago) , It is certainly their prerogative to charge that fee. The main issues are their business practices and a major discrepancy between the prices listed on their website ($80 and up for root touch up) and what they are actually charging. I brought this to their attention over the phone the day after the service, and the response I got, presumably from the owner, was that she didn't know where I was seeing that. I clearly reiterated that I was looking at their website, and that if the prices listed weren't current, they needed to be updated. I also did not receive a receipt at the time of service. I later requested it, and was told that it would be texted to me, but I never received it. I decided to write this review after reading another review from three years ago that mirrored my own experience--charged much higher than fees listed on the website with no receipt for service given. I am now feeling a bit dubious about the way they do business, and suspect that there might be different prices for the same service, for different people. I will acknowledge that I neglected to verify the fee when I made the appointment, which is something I always typically do. I also waited for a half hour past my appointment to be seen (without explanation or acknowledgment of the delay) but I have also experienced this at another local aveda salon. My appointment was almost 1 month ago, and as of today the website information remains the same.
