The salon is located in a really cool building in KC with a super chill vibe. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed. they offered water, coffee, or tea right away, which was such a nice touch. Carrie did an amazing job! I'm so happy with my haircut and highlights. She really listened to what I wanted and delivered beautiful results. I'll definitely be back if I'm ever back in town. Jesika listened carefully to what I wanted, took off exactly the right amount, added soft layers to repair the breakage, and textured it perfectly to bring it back to life. The sisters/family are always on schedule with their appointments and, to me, it doesn't seem like it takes the length of time to get my hair done as it does. I trust Shelly doing my hair and wouldn't trust anyone else to braid my hair. The longest I've kept my braids in was 3.5 months! That was my doing. Some people can last 2-4 months depending upon how quickly your natural hair grows. What I WILL say is that my hair has NEVER fallen out (around the edges/temples) nor has anyone else that I've known to get their hair braided. These friendly ladies have their own style that you can pick another customer out of a crowd. I am always complimented on my hair (even at 3 months - lol). It's wonderful to know that I can sleep in 30 more minutes, in the morning, knowing I don't have to deal with my hair.

Instead he ruined my hair and would not provide even a partial refund for his mistakes. Owners would not help to fix my hair, as they state, "booths are rented out/stylist(s) are their own entity" and thus claim no responsibility over the renter/stylist in question. I have been gaslighted, humiliated, and shamed by everyone involved. The whole experience has left me emotionally and physically traumatized, as I was dehumanized and lashed out against for not "liking the end result." All Estienne cared about was how I insulted him as an "artist" because I expressed my valid concerns. To sum up what happened; he over processed the bleach (he would continually leave to chat on his phone vs watching the time), burned my scalp, would forcefully yank my hair even after I stated that it hurt, left black spots of dye all over my hair (he did not foil, instead used gloves covered in black dye and touched everywhere), gave me an orange color (not copper), and made huge, messy blocks of black dye on my hair, when it was only supposed to be the tips. He also cut my hair too short, looks choppy, and did not layer my hair like I requested. He offered to "fix it" but I did not feel comfortable allowing him to touch my hair/scalp any further in "future appointments" due to the heavy damage that was already done. If it was a minor fixe, I would have no issue, but the fact is, he should of done this correctly the first time and without damaging my hair/scalp. Estienne and the owners chose to disregard my pain, instead of doing the right thing and having a competent stylist fix my hair and or refund me. Please refer to the photos of my damaged hair and decide for yourself. Reference photo is included of what I wanted vs what I got. She asked for a shoulder length haircut and they cut it so much shorter, the hair is nowhere near her shoulders. It's going to take her at least 6 months to grow it back anywhere close to that. The stylist's excuse was that shoulder length can be interpreted many different ways - if you showed her cut to anyone in the world they would not characterize it that way. She was able to get me in right away and did such a great job she's been cutting my hair ever since. She used to own her own shop near 10th & Broadway, but a couple of years back she was pushed out by real estate developers. Luckily she was able to team up with another downtown stylist who also lost her shop to developers and now works out of that salon (Jeannie's). Sandra is very personable and has a fantastic memory -- after a few visits she'll know all about you and how you like your hair. She's also very detailed, you don't leave until your haircut is perfect. A typical wash-and-cut will run $25 and includes a scalp massage -- my favorite part of the experience. She does both men's and women's hair. It may be just the timing of my appointments but it seems like more of her customers are men. I've seen her do children's cuts too, but don't worry -- there are never kids running unrestrained about the shop. Parking is a little tricky as there are only a couple of legal spots on her block. However you can park in the Clubhouse Lofts parking lot right around a corner and pick up a temporary permit from the front desk inside the salon to put on your dashboard. Granted, if you live downtown, you'd just walk anyway; but she has quite a few suburban clients as well.
