I asked for a trim of dead ends and to add layers. The stylist cut over 10 inches of my hair off. The amount she showed me in the beginning was about an inch and a half maybe two inches. My hair was very long and down past my butt, now it is barely past my shoulders. It'll take about a year to get back to the length it was. The blowout was also not even that good. I had to wash and re-style my hair the next day. I'm really upset, because once hair is cut it can't go back on. I can't stand the look of my hair now. read more

Whoever did my hair was very judgey right off the bat. Even when I walked in the door I felt like an inconvenience for being a walk in when I literally waited patiently and quietly for the 5 minutes I waited. No problem there. I requested a hair cut and the whole appointment I felt judged for having old bleach on my hair and some split ends that I was there for to be cut off! Apparently im washing my hair wrong, not getting enough cuts, not using enough protein, blah blah blah. I was there after a not so great haircut to begin with and wanted long layers. Tell me why I came out with my bangs being longer than the back of my hair!! I can see how choppy and uneven everything is at home, not in the salon because they left my hair and my shirt soaking wet. Even my stylist was relieved I told her my hair would be in a ponytail most of the time! She was more focused on the fact that I had dry hair rather than doing my cut right. I have never had such a bad hair cut in my life. If you have people who dont know how to deal with long hair then ill GLADLY wait for another stylist or just send me on my way. Not give me a hard time about the state of my hair that wasn't even horrid to begin with, and take my money to give me a terrible choppy cut and make me feel like its gonna look bad because of how I requested my cut. Stylists should be able to work WITH clients if they know the length they're working with and being requested to be however long isnt gonna look right. I stopped in and made an appointment to get my hair trimmed. I made my appointment for the next morning for 9A.M sharp. I get there in time for my set time. I walk in give my name and let the woman know that my appointment was set for 9AM. She told me to have a seat with another person waiting. Ok cool. We were the only two customers waiting on our services. We sat there waiting patiently for like 15 minutes. In walks another lady and instantly she is seated at one of the stylist chair. Me and the other lady looks at each other. Like what in the world is going on? I needed to know why were we sitting there for 15 minutes over our time. Apparently, all three of us had 9AM appointments. Well you have to tell me something because I made an appointment for a certain time slot. I could tell this location was a bit unorganized. I finally was seated and ready to preceded with my service. My stylist was very nice. I told her how I wanted my hair to be trim and styled. I was pleased with the way she trimmed and shaped up my hair. She gave me a few hair tips and we looked at some hair coloring patterns for my hair. Thank you for completely wasting my time. I arrived 10 minutes early for my 8:30AM appointment. It wasn't until 20 minutes after my scheduled appointment that someone acknowledged me and asked my name. (8:50AM) Soon others began arriving for their 9AM appointments. These folks were going directly to a chair after I had so patiently now waited 50 minutes for the haircut that I had scheduled for 8:30AM. One stylist finished before 9AM and pushed hair around with a broom for a good 10 minutes while I was sitting there. I wasted an hour of my morning and never did get my haircut before walking out. I was very disappointed with my haircut my stylist Marilyn was very sweet despite not being able to do the haircut I wanted in the first photo even though I asked her if she could do it and said yes. The first photo is the style I wanted and my hair was long enough to do it which Marilyn said she could do. The second photo is the haircut Marilyn ended up actually giving me which is nowhere near like the first photo I showed her. I knew she messed up when she saw me looking at it for a while and she told me I could buy styling products to style it. I would assume that paying 32 dollars meant you get your haircut the way you want it not whatever is easier for the stylists to do otherwise they need better training if they don't know how to do the hairstyle people want. I hope I can get my money back from this disappointing experience. My first haircut in two years and now due to this experience I don't look forward to doing it again. read more

I had almost elbow length hair. I had an appointment with Martha. I asked to keep the length and add some LONG layers and a few pieces to frame my face. My hair is now barely longer than my shoulders and has a few forgotten pieces in the back that are "a long layer". I stopped Martha during the cut to say it was really short and wanted to keep the length. She said that it "only felt that way", that she "promised" it would be long. At the end of the cut I was heartbroken more than 6 inches had been chopped off, 9 in some sections. I said it was too short and she argued with me saying "she didn't even cut that much off". She was rude and defensive. I left in tears. The haircut was also uneven and I called to see if someone else could fix it and they said only Martha could, there was no way I was letting her touch my hair again. read more

Astounding service every-time!! Never fails that I don't walk in smiling, and leave with an even larger smile than I came in with. Coming here roughly every 3-weeks has allowed me to bond with the girls who work at this location, and I have some favorites over others, but they're all amazing and love to talk about my life as well as their own. My only suggestion would be to finally UPDATE that place...it's starting to look a little outdated, similarly to the barber-shops of old...I'm sure the staff would love the update as well... I had Lisa, who was absolutely great and so excited to cut my African American Natural hair. She suggested straightening it to get a better cut, I did let her blow dry it, but I wasn't comfortable with putting that much heat on my head so I had her just cut if from that point. But she was diligent and worked to find good products I washed my hair this morning and the cut was absolutely fabulous!! Ms. Lisa will definitely be seeing me again! The only suggestion I would have is that I think they should have better tools for working with African American hair, ie. Wide tooth combs. I was horrified that the smaller one would break my hair off. But that didn't necessarily turn me off, she took the suggest of how I normally detangle and totally adapted! read more

I came here because it is literally across the street from my home. I am unsure if I will return. I was coming to get a shampoo with blow out and iron finish. I did not want a cut. I was headed to PA on a business trip and getting my hair ironed out gives me a certain sense of confidence that my frizzy curls do not. Upon entry, the first thing I was asked was if I had my client card. I looked at her confused. I had no idea what she was talking about. It would have served the counter lady better to ask "Do you have a client card?" followed by "Why are you here today?" rather than "Where is your client card?" "What is your phone number?" and then "It should be 10 minutes before your cut". I do not know the name of the woman who helped me out. She barely spoke english and seemed a bit confused. I asked for a shampoo with blow out and iron finish. She checked the price twice. I told her it was fine. I wanted this. Price was not really an issue. Convenience was and I needed it done. I am unsure how I feel about the overall experience. It took forever. My hair looks great. That being said... The lady used a flat iron that I never would have touched my hair with. It looked rusted. It looked like it had ironed feces in the past. It was gross. She kept telling me to relax while she ironed my hair and I wanted to puke. Did she not see the iron she was running through my hair? Sinthia is awesome :) I've gone to her twice now, and each time was great! She really listened to what I wanted and my cut/color turned out better than I had pictured both times. When I was there last week, there were three girls working (including Sinthia) and all three of them were cheery and upbeat. Every customer was satisfied when they left. I just wanted to say I have been coming to this location for a few years and I always request Maya. She is a great person, very professional, patient,sweet, just delightful. My little boy has Autism and is very fearful of getting his haircut and Maya is always very caring towards him and very patient, she brings him water and gives him a break to hopefully relax him a bit after all the tears! My son's hair comes out great even after all the fuss! Every time I call or come in for an appointment for myself she ALWAYS asks me how my son is doing! So sweet I think. She does a terrific job on my hair as well and if I'm undecided on something she always offers her opinion, which I value. I was long overdue for a haircut and about to go out of town, I had no time to get into the city to go to my regular stylist but I just needed a trim. So I made an appointment at Hair Cuttery I had been there another time and decided to give them another try. The cut was decent and my stylist was nice but there are two things that turned me off. One they have one set of prices posted but you go to check out and then are told that the person you have is a Senior Stylist so the price ends up being about $5 to $10 more, happened to me and few others that checked out while I was there. Also I wanted just a cut, after cutting my hair she went and blew it out and straightened it - I did not ask and it was too late to stop her.. and that was a separate charge I did not know until check out. Had I known that I would have stopped her it was 9 at night i was going home to shower and did not need it styled. But what is preventing me from going back was the constant pressure to UPsell me. I just wanted a trim I was short on time ...first off she kept insisting that I needed my color retouched, that my roots and grays were showing (my hair was colored two days earlier). I declined Then there was pressure for extra deep conditioning and other things. And she was pushing me to get my eyebrows down to he point she was insulting me as to how bad I looked. To be fair my brows did need to be done but her relentless commentary about them was insulting. I did finally cave on getting my brows done as they were needed and I thought saying yes to something would make the tough sell stop. Nope she kept going. Even at check out she kept trying to sell me Redkken products even though I told her I had bought them there on my last visit and did not like them, she kept saying I bought the wrong kind for my hair. She would not tell me my total and ring me up she just kept giving me the third degree about what I currently use for my hair, why it is bad and why Reddken would be better. Finally I told her I was leaving the store in 60 seconds NO MATTER IF I WAS CHECKED OUT OR NOT so she could ring me out so I could pay or keep trying to sell me products I was not going to buy and I would leave without paying. She checked me out but still kept trying to sell. read more

I called and made an appointment for my daughter with a stylist suggested by a friend of hers. Since my daughter was a first time customer, I asked on the phone if the haircut would be 12.99. I was told yes, not knowing that the stylist, Melissa, was a "senior" stylist. We arrived 10 minutes early, than waited 35 minutes for her to finish with a walk in client. Melissa took my daughter back and did her consultation, then walked to the waiting area where I was sitting, and told me she could not honor the first time client cut for 12.99 but would give me $2 off a $22 cut. I agreed because my daughter was already in the chair and I didn't want to embarras her, but I am seriously not happy with the service and treatment we received. I should have been told when I made the appointment that the 12.99 cut did not apply or at least before they took my daughter back. And interestingly enough, I overheard another customer having a similar issue. I don't care how good she thinks she is, being a senior stylist, when a price is quoted, it should be honoured. And if my daughter liked the cut, we would have been back. Now, I won't come back, because I don't reward bad service. read more

It is convenient because there is always parking and I never have to wait very long. For less than $15 I get a shampoo, trim, and good conversation (depending on who I get). read more
