I was so tired of touching up my roots and decided to go back to black, my natural color. However, I work so late that it is so difficult for me to find somewhere I can get my color done after I'm off work. Luckily for me, the local Hair Cuttery was open until 9pm. I called and made an appointment for 7pm the weekend prior. I arrived to my appointment a little bit early, and no one noticed me or checked me in. I was worried that they'd take someone before me who came in after me. As they grew more crowded, I became a bit frustrated. Even when the phone rang, it looked like no one working there even heard it. It rang for almost 5 minutes before a girl finished someone's cut and answered the phone when she went to the front to ring up her client. Then fortunately, my name was called even though I was never checked in. My hair turned out nice, and I understand the upcharge for its length, but I thought it was still a bit costly for a single color/single process at a chain salon. Next time I'd probably take the time to find a local salon, as long as my schedule can allow it. read more

Will never go back to this place again! I can only recommend you go here if you would like to be a victim of fraudulent activity. I went in for a simple all over black color. The stylist brings me the book to show me the color and I say okay. When she takes my hair down from its bun she mentions a "root to ends" application charge of $20 and I think to myself that's weird but it must be their policy so I say okay. The whole appointment goes about. I pay after two hours of being at this "salon" and when I get my receipt in my email I notice that the $27 up charge was for a gloss and tone. I was lied to and will be reporting this to my credit card company if I do not receive a refund EXPEDITIOUSLY! read more

Absolutely horrible! Made an appointment for my daughter. Sat in there for 20 minutes before any even addressed us. Then we someone finally came over- she said my stylist went home and they forgot to tell us. I booked with any stylist. Nope. I made an appointment last week for my only day off . I made the earliest appointment of the day. After having my temperature checked twice and being left outside I was told that the hair stylist they booked me for was not even working today. NOPE, they did not offer to fit me in, or anything. I got a horrible cut and this new stylist overcharges me and says she a lead stylist and should get paid more. She totally hacked my hair and I will never ever go . She was in a rush to do her friends hair. After going here for 30 years and I have already spread the word my adult daughter won't be going there and a few of my friends. I lifted in the town the salon is in and even my bangs were long on one side and short on another plus she cut them super short like a 12yr old kid! She was very nasty too. Well this lady Delma that works at the hair Cuttery at 142 Hamilton market place is a very rude and doesn't know how to speak to people, I was 5 minutes late to my appointment and told the lady that greeted me so, she didn't check me in so I sat to wait for my appointment and then Delma finally comes out and says oh did you check in I said no was waiting for someone to check me in. Then Delma just walks away few minutes later comes back and lifts my hair and says you know your 15 minutes late. Told her no I'm was five minutes and walked out as to not say something she wouldn't like. Just your average Hair Cuttery. I had an appointment at 12:30pm on New Year's Eve with Terri but had to wait until 1:05pm before she was ready to see me. I was frustrated with my 35-minute wait time, but Terri was friendly and efficient once she started working with me. I got a simple shampoo, cut, and blowdry. My hair is quite a bit shorter than I had expected, but I am overall happy with the result. read more

My family recently moved to the area, so I needed a new place to get my hair cut. I had a really positive experience at the Hair Cuttery I used to go to, so I booked an appointment here. I gave Tara very specific instructions and told her 3 separate times that my cut was going to be too short, but I still walked out looking like Sid from Toy Story. And when I expressed that it was just too short, I was told that "it'll grow back," and that "at least I won't have to get a haircut for a long time." I understand that it's just a haircut, but how could anyone think a cut like this could look good on anyone over the age of 8? read more

I had an appointment at 5 and called to check around 3 to verify the time of my appointment it was confirmed and then Called to check in for my appointment in the parking lot and said I'm sorry but your appointment is cancelled and we tried to call you but your phone number we had was a digit short and then when I said well why was I not told at 3 that it was cancelled she said I'm sorry ... They completely destroyed my 10 year old's hair cut. He went in for a trim and came out looking like he just enlisted. We brought a picture and gave clear instructions but obviously she never received any training for professional hair cuts. You are better off taking a clipper and do it yourself. Went in for a blowout, some large curls, how hard can that be right?? Apparently very! The so called MASTER STYLIST, more master of disaster! I came in from out of town, had a big event to go to. She did not use the big round brush, I was left with a frizz of a mess, then she used a 1/2 inch barrel on my LONG hair, I looked like I stuck my finger in an electric socket. Then I asked, why not use the flat iron to curl it? She replied, "oh do you know how? I never heard of that'? I was baffled at that one. I was able to salvage this mess myself with my own curling wand. Do they not send their stylist to trade shows, and further education? I will never step foot in one of these cheap salons again. They need to re-educate these so called stylists! What a waste of my time and MONEY! read more

We checked in for a simple wash and cut. Arrived earlier than the check in. The older woman at the desk said it'll be 15 minute wait which we were fine with since we came early. As we are waiting, a new customer walks in says she forgot to do the check in and wasn't sure what coloring and cut she wants. A stylist sat her down and had a 30+ minute chat on what she could do and that maybe she should come back if she wanted to make it by closing. I waited all this time and when I finally spoke up the woman who had checked me in said they can't go by the order of arrival all the time and that she was just figuring out what her client would want. Instead of taking the client who was on time and waiting what was 40+minutes, they chose someone who might not even get anything done today. The employees are disrespectful and the inside of the place was not clean, so in a way, it's good i wasn't able to have my cut done here. But that's what you get from a cheap franchise. read more

I finally get someone's attention and ask how much longer. She disappears and comes back and tells me another hour. I asked her if she were kidding and she said "well you left". Marketplace hair cuttery has Great stylists. This is a great hair cuttery. The stylists are friendly and helpful and they reasonably priced.

No stars. I arrived after booking an appointment and was treated like I had broken into a private home. I was told that it was a two hour wait. When they looked up my name in the computer it came right up but they told me that the stylist I'd asked for doesn't take appointments. It was my third time there, they had my name and info. I will never go back and I told them so. I told them that they were inappropriate and that I would tell EVERYONE I KNOW. With so many salons and so many stylists, do not waste your time here. read more

I am a very disappointed customer. I have been a loyal Hair Cuttery customer for the past 10 years at the Hamilton Marketplace in Hamilton,NJ. I have spent thousands of dollars a year on services and products. I have supported the staff and their families in fundraisers and other charitable events associated with Hair Cuttery. I always gave a gratuity of 20% or more every time I was given a service. Unfortunately, the corporation investigated their staff of hair stylists and discovered their hairstylists were not reporting the correct service codes and as a result the prices given to customers from the hairdressing staff were incorrect at several salons across the country. Since then the company updated their coding and pricing as of September 2014 and issued this book of codes and prices according to the services which is kept as a reference tool for each of the salons. If a hairdresser is not sure of a selection of encoded services the book is a useful tool as a reference for both management and staff. I have had the opportunity to utilize a few of the hair stylists in the salon over the course of several years. I have only recently found out in November of 2015 the staff wasn't properly selecting the proper code regarding the service performed to me. As a result, the prices were incorrect. Take note that the most updated book of codes and prices were as of September 2014. Over a year and two months went by and was then approached by management of this event. I blame this irresponsible event on the manager of this salon due to a lack of training to her staff regarding codes and pricing. It is false representation. As a result, I was informed the correct code associated with the service given to me should have been $10 more. Previously, I was paying anywhere between $17-$32 for a shampoo, blowout and set. The range was due to what type of hairstylist was utilized for the service. Level 1 to a master stylist. Now it changed to $28- $35. I was upset about the lack of training given to the staff and it solely reflects poor management at all levels within the company. I returned to the salon with a brand new haircut. For years I have my haircut done by another salon. My new haircut length change is by 5 inches. I made an appointment with, Fallon, a Master Hairstylist who has been working at this salon for a few years. I was serviced by her on two different occasions for the New Year 2016. At the end of each of the monetary transactions she informed me it would be $20 which I paid. Until I received a phone call on January 20, 2016, 30 minutes prior to my third appointment with her she said her price went up to $29. I asked for her manager Debbie and informed me about the correction. I told her this is very unprofessional of both management and staff. Again I was a victim of false representation regarding false prices. I informed Debbie, the manager, Fallon is a master stylist who should know how to price her services and encode them correctly in order to have the correct monetary transaction given to the customer so the company and stylist would be compensated correctly. Nearly two weeks went by from the first visit to the third visit and no one, not Fallon nor Debbie contacted me immediately following the first visit to discuss their situation. Time lapsed. There is no excuse for this event to have ever have occurred and I was thoroughly disappointed on the way management handled this case. I quickly asked for the Regional manager's number and informed her what occurred. I informed the regional manager that Fallon should be taken off the floor immediately to be retrained by her manager until she is confident and thoroughly knowledgeable about selecting the correct code and service in order to perform her required duties given. The regional manager agreed to have her retrained however did not agree with me regarding the price. I told her a good manager would have "saved face" and continue with the same price of $20 to keep the client happy and to retain them as a client.. As for Fallon, it would have been money lost but a valuable lesson taught and corrected for her future clients as well as for the salon. In conclusion, I will not be returning to this Hair Cuttery Salon and will take my money elsewhere and they will loose revenue. So beware potential customers regarding the Hair Cuttery at Hamilton Marketplace due to poor management, poor customer service practices constant price changing and lack of knowledgeable hairstylists. read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE OF MY LIFE I am extremely heated and offended by the employees working at this location. My gf and I walked in for a hair cut but as soon as we got in not a single person greeted us or even looked at us. We standed waiting for about a minute then sat down. We waited for 30 MINUTES before eventually walking out. The entire time we waited not a single employee even acknowledged our presence. The receptionist/manager was busy for 10 minutes talking to a friend/Customer. When she was done she went into the back room only to return 25 minutes later to say goodbye to her friend, stand directly in front of us literally doing nothing and didn't even look at us. One hair stylist finished with her client then walked out of the store came back with food and went to the back. I get people get dinner breaks but she didn't even ask if we had been helped when she was literally right in front of us ringing up her client. Every single customer that came in after us was greeted immediately. I left extremely offended and enraged and my gf was literally CRYING as we left. I FELL LIKE WE WERE PURPOSELY IGNORED. I will never ever go to this location again and I will 100% tell everyone I know not to go to this location. The reason I gave it one star was because you have to put at least one. I have been a loyal customer to this salon for over ten years. I have had multiple different stylists and have always walked out happy with the results, be it a color or cut. Last week I went for a highlight/lowlights and cut. I brought a specific picture and showed it to the stylist. I specifically said i didnt want any red or brassy tones (specifically brown and blonde). After two hours in the chair, she washed it out and explained that the roots looked brassy so she applied a toner. The toner didn't work as she hoped and so she tried another. After asking the Manger for a suggestion, she went and did something other than what was suggested. After a total of 6 hours at the salon, and multiple attempts at fixing the color, I walked out with red roots and bleach blonde hair. I was so tired of being there that I just wanted to leave. I paid and tipped and left unhappy. The next day I called and explained the situation to Debbie and she offered to fix it. I made an appointment with her for the following day. I arrived 5 minutes before my appointment and Debbie said she was 15 mins behind. I waited almost an hour!! I finally sat in her chair and showed her the picture of what I originally asked for. She said she do new highlights and low lights. At the end, she did take away the bleached look,however instead of a nice natural light brown and blonde as I the photo, I walked out with ash/black (not brown) and almost no blonde left. And my roots are still red!!!!! My hair is so over processed now and I don't even know how to fix it. It's a shame that this one experience has put such a bad taste in my mouth for this salon.
