I arrived at 9:45 for my appointment today with Gina at 9:45am. Noone came to the front desk so I walked back to Gina's station to let her know I was there and saw she was foiling a client's hair. I asked how long I would need to wait as I had a scheduled work meeting that I needed to be home for. She said 5-10 minutes and asked if I wanted to reschedule and told me to go to the website to do so. I went back to the front and sat down to go on the website and heard Gina making disparaging remarks about me for being frustrated about the wait - REPEATEDLY! I was visibly frustrated because of a work meeting but was in no way rude or vocal about it. I walked out because I could not tolerate Gina's unprofessionalism and rude behavior. I hope she is counseled on basic customer service and human decency. read more

I've never had a bad experience here, and I've been to a zillion salons over the years, all spectrums of price ranges. It seems like any stylist here has been properly vetted, know what they were doing, very skilled and talented. Just recently had an amazing experience with a new stylist, Kari, who transformed my dowdy, scraggly old hair into a work of gorgeous beauty. She really breathed a bit of new life and health into my appearance - she's a star! Strongly recommend her and Amanda Nicole!!! read more

I had been searching for a good hair cutting spot since moving to NJ and have had a few bad experiences. Thankfully the Hair Cuttery came through to the rescue! They always do an excellent job with the style and blow dry and are pleasant to work with. Now my husband goes there as well because the haircuts are just consistently good. The prices are a little higher than other places but you get what you pay for. For an added bonus, the employees are great about wearing their masks and observing COVID guidelines. I've had a lot of success here in the past. I wanted to get my curls back because my hair was very frizzy. After researching I decided to get a perm. When I left my hair was ok. I was told not to was until Saturday so I didn't. When I did my hair was like cotton candy. The more I try to do the worse it got. I went to the first place I could get into and now have a very short pixie cut. I was told by manager since I already went some where else there's nothing she could do. I was very unhappy with my hairstylist. A friend recommended Erin in Hair Cuttery, next to Whole Foods. I was hesitant because I correlated them to other hair (less than stellar) chains. Was I wrong! It's been two years now and I am consistently delighted with Erin's expertise, professionalism and her wonderful easy going, friendly manner. I get compliments about my hair regularly. Originally my review was very different but the kindness and compassion that the ladies showed and their willingness to fix what was very wrong has earned them a client for life. I wanted a simple updo (2 braids wrapped into a bun) it was done and VERY loose... I didn't even make it home before it fell out... they happily and kindly redid it, it looks amazing and I'm pretty sure it's gonna last all weekend which is amazing! absolutely do not come to this place. I brought my daughter yesterday for a haircut she left in tears. Her hair was completely uneven. The lady who cut her hair said next time she needs to tell them her hair was longer which she did because I made the appointment and the lady double booked herself, so then rushed my daughter's hair. It was supposed to be blow dried never blow, dried it use the flat iron and the board says her haircut was supposed to be $42. I walked out they charged me 80 absolutely ridiculous. Will never use this place again and do not recommend it unless you want uneven haircut. read more

I'm sorry to have to write this because each time I go here I hope for a better experience, and each time it's worse. First of all, I rarely if ever get a proper greeting from someone here. If they even do acknowledge me it's rarely with a smile. No one is ever manning the desk, it's always whoever doesn't have a client at the time. They usually fit me in for an eyebrow wax as a walk in, but depending on who I get decides whether it's a good job or not. This last visit she waxed my upper eyebrows...left out in between my eyes (I even asked her to do it), and the bottoms of my eyes. So I paid for an eyebrow wax and half was done. Getting a haircut there is risky, and I will NEVER make that mistake again. To be safe I booked myself with the owner, which was a huge no no. She was so soft spoken and seemed to be unsure of herself throughout my style. She kept asking me if she should do this, or cut here...umm, excuse me? I left with a horrible, short haircut that I did NOT want. I take My kids here for quick, simple cuts and even after much instruction they do something that is different than what we spoke about. All in all I can't believe this place is still in business. The girls who work there are a revolving door which is NEVER a good sign. The frosty greetings (if any) are so rude, it takes nothing to smile bright and welcome people in, or at least gaze up from their phone or computer screen. Better management, certainly better trained stylists and improved moral needs to be implemented in this place. I will no longer be going. read more

I went all the way out there because appointments are so hard to get anywhere after 6, after they "claim" to be open until 9. Even says right on the door: M-F until 9. f I could give this 0 stars I would. I was referred to Amanda Mitchell. I wish I was able to post the pictures. I was looking for an ombre with two very blonde pieces to the front. Showed pictures etc. I was a out grown highlighted blonde prior to service. She put blonde in places I did not ask. "Color expert specialist" should not I repeat should not ever leave someone who requests blonde go home with brassy or an orange tinted hair. You may not be the goal to what you requested but bright orange.. no. My root as she quoted enhanced my root when I did not want my root color. I am extremely disappointed that I sat for hours to run out of there as fast as possible. I did not want her to even wash or dry my hair.. she dried bleached hair to glaze over.. no no no I repeat no. My scalp is scabbed and burning. Manager Kim offered to fix it. Why on God's green earth would I come into a salon again to get it fixed when I no longer trust this place of business. I want a refund, which needs a bigger approval. The cost to have a color correction is 100$ an hour..... who pays that bill now? read more

Brought my 4 year old here for her first "big girl" cut with Erin. We have known her for years and she did my hair for my wedding several years ago too. Amber gives an awesome cut and is known as a great colorist but the scheduling needs some improvement.

I went here on a friend's referral last month. Not mentioning names but I asked for a hair coloring and was shown swatches also I showed her a pic as well. The application was discussed prior and said was doable. Not at all. Hair was 3 different colors. I just wanted a full hair color. Also cut was not what I wanted. Felt rushed. Stylists if u cant deliver dont do it. Having customers leave unhappy is not a good look. They offered to fix it for another fee? What? No..do it right the 1st time. It's a shame because I know alot of customers who go there and said it has gone downhill. My referral friend is 80 years old. She just gets a trim. Cant fault her. Went to another salon recently and they fixed it great. Get your acts together. read more

I have been going to the hair cuttery since Erin and the crew opened the salon since I followed Erin. Since going to Red Bank I have also had Brie & Shelly both do an excellent job and would recommend these stylists any time and twice over. This being said this is why I give a 5 star review. My main point in writing this review is to hopefully bring light to the newer manager there. I have been in her presence a couple of times in the last 8 months or so as the salon is far from me and both times I have heard her talk "down" to her staff or be condescending towards them. Being a manager of 85 people myself, you should really take a good look on how to treat employees and the laws involved in managing a staff. Knowing the ladies who work there you should be proud of the staff you have because without the talent of them you wouldn't have all the customers you have. read more

Went here for a blowout, figuring you really can't mess that up. Turns out I was wrong. I went here because a friend recommended I try. She received a cut, highlights, a glaze, and blow dry all for $40, so I thought, great! How much could a blowout be.. turns out $45 just for a blowout. Because I have long hair it was more expensive, it was stupid of me not to check the prices for long hair. But because my usual high end salon blows hair out for $30 I wasn't expecting any more than that. It took Kim over an hour to blow out my hair, she continued to spray it with hair spray after I told her my hair doesn't hold well with that. It came out looking poofy and dented, I had to go over it with the blow drier when I got home. In addition to this she was on the phone for over 5 mins when I got there for my appointment and took numerous phone calls during my appointment. She also told me that the girls "are really terrible here." The most unprofessional hair salon I have ever been to. Please don't ever go here!!! read more
