I made an appointment for a specific stylist. However, when I arrived, she was with another client. I was told that another stylist would take care of me - of course it's the one stylist that other Yelpers have said to steer clear of. As you can see in my past reviews, we had been long-term customers just to have an atrocious experience. They did, eventually, re-do the trim so I'm adding a star. However, I doubt we will return anytime soon. It's not so much the mistake but the change in the way they do business and how cumbersome it was to have the cut fixed. They didn't honor my appointment and make me wait 20 minutes,then I was offered another master,since they charge different prices for different levels of experience,I couldn't verify who was that person,was charged max price.Language barrier was also an issue and she didn't maybe understand what I wanted to do or she just ignored me.In any case, I didn't get quality service,shampoo they used make my scalp itchy.Absolute disaster. read more

Mimi, the Assistant of Salon Manager is a true artist, both as a stylist and as a colorist. She is extremely talented with my stubborn long blonde hair. I go for a very light blonde (not silver or grey) and she nails it. Mimi takes her time with the highlights and lifts it to such a perfect shade of blonde without any kind of damage. She really knows how to correct tones so everything comes out cohesive and blends. I would highly recommend Mimi for any color hair but especially difficult shades of blondes! I wanted to go as light as I could go WITHOUT damaging my hair which I told stylist. I showed a picture of my end goal of blonde hair. Had to get my hair fixed by her again because the first time I had hot roots. My hair was healthy when I came in now I have a bunch of damaged hair and chunks of hair missing that will take years to grow back. Rowena rushed my haircut because she had a regular waiting. She shaved one side of my head higher than the other. I asked her to fade the back and she just shaved it. The Hair Cuttery I used to visit closed, so I tried this one, and the experience was terrible. The stylist Kay and I agreed to a trim of 1.5 inches keeping it all one length. As she was cutting it, she seemed to be in a hurry since a walk-in she knew had appeared and was waiting. I questioned the trim while she was working since I felt it was going to end up too short, and she assured me it would still be long enough for a ponytail. However, once she finished, she had taken off at least 3 inches and it was not only too short but completely uneven. I called the next day once I realized how bad it was, and the manager was not there. I wore my hair back that day as much as possible, but I cannot even put it in a ponytail anymore. I called again the following day, and the manager said she would fix it that night. When I went in, I showed her how the right side touched my shoulder in front but the left side was chin length, and the back looked like it had layers even though I specifically said no layers. The manager confirmed the back had some layering and said there was nothing she could do about it. She then snipped at the front right side a little while making excuses for the original stylist doing a poor job and not following my wishes. I believe it will take at least a month before it grows out enough that I won't feel embarrassed and be unable to wear my hair how I like. read more

I got the worst haircut of my life here from Moon. I spent a while growing out my hair and only wanted the sides cleaned up, and clearly said I did not want anything taken off the top. Not only did Moon cut the top anyways, but she cut it WAY too short so it does not look proportional at all. Moon was very rushed as well, she quickly and poorly cut my hair in less than 5 minutes... Do yourself a favor and stay away from here unless you want a military buzz. read more

My son and I walked in with only one request. My son wanted blue hair. After speaking with the gentleman who greeted us, Erin was called over to consult with us. She spelled everything out; the pros and the cons. But she saw how determined my son was and she not only listened but offered suggestions and gave my son exactly what he wanted. Charlie is the greatest! Being a bit selfish, I almost don't want to tell other people how great he is... But I like him too much to do that. Charlie cuts my whole family's hair: my husband's, my 7 year old daughter's, my 3 year old son's, and my own. To tell you how picky I am about my own hair, I actually paid $200 for a haircut (yes... Just for a haircut) in DC earlier this year when I went to get it colored too. I got mad because Charlie's haircuts are truthfully better, so I came back and had him fix it. I know that sounds crazy but it is completely honest. He is so attentive to detail and always makes it fall just right. I get so many compliments on my cuts! He is like a magician with my 3 year old. We've been seeing him since my son was 20 months old or so and Charlie's like a baby whisperer. My son loves him and gets excited when we come see "Mr. Charlie!" He's very patient and never gets upset or flustered when my son is wiggly. The result is always great. 5 stars isn't enough! The entire staff here is great and so kind. Do NOT go there unless you have an usual hair dresser you know. The outcome of the haircut was so crooked so bad... the hair dresser with long hair who cut mt hair not only not know how to trim hair evenly but also complained my hair being too thick 3 times during 1 hair cut which is way too annoying and unprofessional!! (Seriously, as a hair dressir, if you feel you can't handle my hair, don't ask me to sit down and said you know how to!!!) The way she handled the scissors was so awkward and clumsy. I came here at opening time on a Sunday morning to get a quick wash and trim. When I arrived I was told the store didn't open for another hour... despite the time online AND posted on the door right in front of me being what I thought. I pointed that out and was told "those are the old hours" as if that were obvious. It was all pretty strange and unprofessional and I can't understand why the "updated hours" aren't posted online, on the door of the shop or literally anywhere else a customer could find out. It also seemed strange that, given all this, the hairdresser wouldn't just take me anyway and do the super quick cut then as a show of good customer service. Anyway, after sitting in my car waiting for another 40 mins (I really needed the haircut for photos that day, otherwise I would have abandoned ship) I did have a very nice lady cut my hair who did a great job. She was the saving grace of the appointment. I wish I would have read the reviews for this place and seen the negative feedback about Rowena. If I had, I never would have allowed her to touch my son's hair. We are new to the area and I sent my husband and son to Hair Cuttery this afternoon for what should have been an ordinary haircut. Now my son is the kind of kid with good hair. People often comment on how "cool" it is. For the next few weeks, that will not be the case. He will have to wear a hat to cover the mess Rowena left behind. She gave him a too short bowl cut in the front, left a jagged mess in the back, and ignored my husband's repeated and specific request not to cut too short around the ears. Absolutely awful. Made an appointment with Mimi but I have no idea if that's who ended up taking me (never smiled or introduced herself). I have a lot of hair fallout due to a medical condition. She kept brushing my hair and shoving all my fallen hair in my face, telling me I need a better shampoo to stop losing hair. She kept shaking the hair off her hands, looking very annoyed. I was humiliated and on the brink of tears! Throughout the whole experience she kept trying to sell me stuff, as well.
