In the store was the owner and I guess his son. I was on the phone talking to my family. I asked the older gentlemen if he had Opps. He answered no. As I went to the register (which was about 10 mins or so later) I asked the younger son if he had opps. Very disrespectfully he replied "you already asked him and he told you no. So the answer is no! I asked who are you talking to? And he replied you! So I turned to the older gentleman and said is this how you talk to your customers. By this time I am getting angry. He then says to me, "you're just angry". That's when I lost it. I reminded them both that African Americans spend their money in the store the most. Black and brown ppl. Being as stupid as he is he says "oh pls" then begins to argue back . He then says you are irrelevant. Now I'm really angry! We are really arguing now. I'm going off. The owner says I'm gonna talk to him and I said no your not. So I told the owner, I will NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS STORE EVER AGAIN! Then I walked out. That little punk bastard comes to the window while I'm standing outside and mouths F$#@ You! If you are in the area let it be known that we dont allow that in our neighborhoods. Pelham Bay is a neighborhood with decent hard working ppl. The majority of ppl that live in this community are black and brown ppl. DON'T BUY FROM WA BEAUTY SUPPLY.

This location is not far from home, so I decided to check it out. I came in on Saturday around 4pm and there were several people ahead of me. Rather than wait, I decided to go have an early dinner at a restaurant in the mall and try my luck later when everyone else was probably going for dinner. So I came back at 5:45 and Sabrina was immediately available to help me. The store is rather cluttered (as are many Claire's stores) and doesn't appear particularly sanitary so I was a little concerned, but Sabrina showed me how everything was done (things were packaged, sealed and sterile) and I felt confident that there would be no problem Since I've got plenty of earrings at home (I inherited a large collection from my mother), I made a rather plain choice, the stainless steel 4mm balls on posts. The earrings, piercing and a large bottle of solution to be used 3X a day for the next six weeks cost, tax included, a bit under $27. There are other earrings should you prefer something real gold or more decorative at a range of different prices, nothing they offer would break the bank. The paperwork (there are health regulations and they need your signature for a number of different issues) took the bulk of the time. I hardly felt a pinch when the posts were inserted. It was quick, painless and considering the circumstances, a very pleasant experience. Sabrina was more than pleasant, clearly knew what she was doing and answered any questions I had. She measured carefully, making sure the holes were in the same place on both ears. After she did the piercing, she clearly explained what I needed to do (apply solution, turn, etc) and the paperwork explained everything else. I recommend this store should you want to have your ears pierced.

While the salon appears to be basic in style - the staff is anything but...They are warm, funny and welcoming. Sometimes I feel like I just walked in to Cheers - everybody knows my name. Teresa, the owner, is very sweet and accommodating. She keeps up-to-date with the latest styles for cuts and colors so my hair NEVER looks dated. I actually always get complements on my hair, people think it's my natural color. I tease Teresa and say it's just bc I have beautiful hair - but I know that it's because she's a great colorist and can be a magician at times. I was completely shocked after reading the negative comment that was posted in 2013. For one - the owner does not have a gruff voice, she has a very sweet voice. And who just walks-in to a salon for a cut and color. This isn't SuperCuts. Shouldn't you call first to see what the hours are and if they could accommodate you at that time? The lighting is not dim - it's actually bright, obviously this person walked in while they were closing. And what chemical smells is she talking about? "Do you want movement in the ends?" was the only question asked. At Plush, if you tell them that you want a Vava Voom or a Pin-Up or a regular blow, the response is always the same: "Ok." ESPECIALLY when I call them a month in advance to book a "blow dry". If these people want repeat, GOOD business, they'd better cut the attitude and explain the nuances of their services a little better. Otherwise, I'm going to go to their competitors a few miles away.
