The welcome at the salon is always friendly and professional. You're given a refreshing and relaxing Aveda herbal tea while you wait for your hairdresser. You will always been consulted by your hairdresser before they begin and these guys really take the time to listen but also have a point of view (I always like a professional opinion). Before your hair is washed a 'ritual' is performed where you get a scalp and neck massage with a beautiful oil. The only thing you should be warned about is that Luc Espace is a training salon which means that while your hairdresser will always do the cut, you will have somebody different wash your hair, or dry it. Mostly I have had good experiences but it can be frustrating at times. That said, I respect that they foster young talent so I keep going back. I recommend seeing Jordana for cut and Julia for colour.

The stylists there always consult with you to make sure that you're getting exactly what you want, my hair always looks stylish whilst still suiting me. A cut and style - for me, usually blow dry and straighten - takes around an hour with long hair. Basically, the only place on this earth that I would allow to put something sharp near my hair. Be aware that they do take appointments for children, but only after school and not on the weekends. But the staff are great with the children that come through :)

My parents had spoken of them so highly I wanted to acknowledge their praise and made an appointment to experience Forestville Hairdressing for myself. Forestville Hairdressing is inconspicous up a flight of stairs above Michel's Pattiserie to the second level. When I arrived I was immediately taken with their warm hospitality. David was assigned to wash my hair which in all was a very thorough job with a wonderful head massage to complete it. Shown to my seat I was given magazines and then asked for my brief. As I was there for just a style it was a short explanation and then within 40 minutes there I was all done with a do that exceeded my expecations. The price was even better. Each stylist was very busy with a regular flow of customers that they all knew by first name. This kind of service is rare these days and Im pleased I was able to see for myself what the locals fuss about. Should you be a local resident of Forestville and have not heard of this Salon then I highly recommend their services. No need for Tony and Guy and fancy multiple services and high prices. David and Mary have the no nonsense good old fashioned service that is every bit a pampering than just getting your hair done.

I have no appointment and not busy. I asked the price and yes, it's very expensive. $120 for creative stylist. I asked for someone less like a level one stylist for $80 but nobody there. Well, I needed a haircut so I went for the top stylist. Albert sat down with me and told him exactly what I want. Had my hair shampooed then a good massage. Albert has done a good job! I walked in on a Saturday morning with no appointment but pleased to be immediately seated at a basin for a wash. The seat for the hair washing basin wasn't very comfortable and my core was definitely working hard to keep me from sliding off (all that Pilates finally comes in handy!) but the lady washing my hair have it a thorough clean. I loved that they understood my hair which so many underestimate. They saw my natural wave and knew to only lightly layer it to help manage the poofiness. Great results from the blow wave too. It's super busy (for a reason!) and a bit crowded in here but worth it for the good hair care and bargain prices.

While the person who washed my hair was really nice and did a great job washing my hair, the hairdresser was downright horrible. She adopted a very "I will do my job and lets just sit in near silence" stance and it was a very awkward 30 minutes. I probably would have been content if the haircut was done well but it wasn't. (I think part of my bad experience had to do with the language barrier but regardless it shouldn't matter...)
