If you want a whole new makeover - whether you want one or not - this is the place! While trying out salons in the area, I found this one online. It looked legit, so I booked an appointment and was told I would have my hair colored by "Pat" (can't remember her name), "the OWNER". I was happy. Upon arrival, some slow-moving blonde approached and directed me to a chair. She introduced herself as "Lisa" (all names are fictional, but unfortunately, the retelling of this experience is not ;-() I asked if she was the owner. She said no, that the owner wasn't in, she had something come up. I as disappointed at the bait-and-switch, but figure things come up in life, salon owners are not immune to that. We discussed my hair - I wanted to redo my roots a light brown,cover the grey, and highlights on top. The reveal was less than stellar - forget it was $125 for both - the highlights barely showed and the color was a dull brown. Not only that, it took her forever to get through a 20-minute job as she discussed her love life in intimate detail, stopping to talk with my hair in her hands). Three days later, when the color washed out and my grey was showing, I asked for a redo at their expense, but with a different hairdresser. A brunette woman, "Carla", was available to do it. Carla did a decent job, and the highlights were good, despite her rushed manner and hurried attitude, like she had other places to be. I liked the results, so ... I booked another appointment with "Carla", asking for the same, simple, root redo and highlights. I came out of there with an unnatural red hair that looked like I dyed it at home, and a big blonde skunk streak on one side of my head...luckily it wasn't done very well so it wasn't like Bride of Frankenstein, but it was there... $$$ WATCH YOUR BILL ALERT charged for $25 haircut didn't receive $$$ At the register, I asked the price, and she nervously said, "$167", which I thought was extremely HIGH for what was done, having lived in both LA and NY, it's outrageous for around here. I was tired, thought I'd sort it out later, and I paid and left. My honey was horrified by the appearance of my hair, and even more by the price. Two days later I called and left a message just asking them to call me (my hair is crying uncle by this point). A few days later (not immediately, as it was in booking the appointment), the "owner" called and assumed I must be calling about the mistake on the bill. Surprised, I asked her to explain it. She said, "well, the hairdresser mistakenly charged you an extra $25 for a haircut, which apparently you didn't receive". I said they could just credit the card I used. The "owner" said, "our system isn't set up that way, the only way I can refund your money is with store credit. You can use it on products we have". I said, "no, you charged me for something I didn't receive, you need to refund the money to my account". She said she couldn't. I said, "you're the owner, you can't reach in your register and hand me $25?", she said "well, I'm the 'landlord', and each operator is their own boss, they rent chairs from me'. I said, "even so, that is my money you charged my account, you can't keep it, it's against the law. You have to give it back". Once I said "law", her tone changed, and she told me she suddenly found a way to refund my money but I'd have to pick it up. I did. I then said I couldn't walk around like this, with this red skunk hair, and she persuaded me to have them redo it, and "Carla" agreed to fix it. Like an idiot, I went back - shame on ME. Carla was rushed and acted like she couldn't be bothered. I came out of there SNOW WHITE brunette. Yes, black hair, and it was amateur and awful. My boyfriend and I think it's their revenge. I called about THAT...lol...and the owner said she couldn't do anything about it, that she was there in the room when I asked for the color a few shades darker than my natural. The lighting in that glorified garage space with so little decor and lacking in warmth and hospitality is also comparable to a gritty dive bar, so it was difficult to discern my natural shade. The whole place is dark and feels filthy. The blase attitude of the owner/landlord/manager/hairdresser/bystander is offensive and trickles down. There are no smiles in that place, nor is there skill, personality, helpfulness, honesty or anything else you look for in a business of any sort. I have been going to Hair Mania since it opened and have been seeing Sarah for all of my hair needs, the owner for around 15 years or more. I love this place! The ambience in the salon is hip and relaxing. Easy checkout when paying with a card, and friendly service. My latest hair creation we are working on is fabulous and I can't wait for my next appointment! What I like about Sarah is that she's honest with you about what it is you want to get done. She'll tell you if it will work, or give suggestions if you should try it another way. And if she thinks it's going to ruin your hair, she won't just do it anyway because that's what you want. She'll let you know how to do it right and keeps your hair's best interest at heart . After all, you only get one set of hair in this life so take care of it at Hair Mania!! read more

Sarah has been doing my hair and my fiancee's hair for several years now and we both plan on staying with her. She finds ways to make time for us no matter how busy her schedule is. We've gotten hair cuts, coloring, conditioning, and nail services done. The conversation is always friendly and you can tell the girls that work here really care about the things we have going on in our lives. I got my wedding hair color done with Sara. The color turned out exactly as I requested. It even looks better than I had imagined. I have blonde hair and I got a full foil. It feels amazing. The place is very modern and easy going atmosphere. read more
