Made an appointment for the day before I leave for vacation. Walked in before my appointment and was ignored. Stood at desk without a word. Even had a stylist come over to the desk and still not say a word. Worst experience I've ever had at a barber shop. The exact opposite of how you want to be treated there. Worst haircut I've ever got, I asked for a low fade and trim the tips on the top. She gave me an extra high fade and took 80% of the length off the top except for right in the front. It looks horrendous. There's no way to style it to look decent. It does not matter how cute the stylists are, when it comes to your hair someone either does it right or F's it up. Mind you, I have been going to the same barber for years and he was unavailable and I was in dire need of a hair cut so I decided to give this place a try. I wish they would have spent all the money they wasted on the million flat screen tvs and the tacky build out on better stylists. I asked for a simple bald fade with the back a little longer, and for some reason i left the place with side burns and some weird faded mullet thing on the back of my head. For the rest of the day my office was just laughing how uneven the line was on the back. If the stylist did not know what a bald fade was, i wish she would have just mentioned it rather then giving me the "WORST CUT IN MY LIFE." but you live and learn. You want a good hair cut.. see a barber. You want to watch tv and look at girls, just waste your 20$ at a strip club. read more

I received the shittiest hair cut of my life here by a bitch who didn't care at all to even have a job. she didn't talk to me once, se totally misconstrued what I told her (it happens) and never once asked me if that was ok. I nearly shit myself when she was running the clippers up my head. a 17$ haircut that was totally not worth it even my 10 minutes it took her. absolutely ridiculous!!! for 22 years I've been getting my hair cut I've never in my life been butchered this terribly. and treated so poorly. read more

Normally I have never had a terrible time here as this was my place of choice. I don't get anything special done to my hair just a buzz cut. So as far as quality of cuts for me their are small inconsistencies but nothing for me to complain about on that end. There always seems to be an issue with the tablet and the staff will sometimes take down names or sometimes just watch to see who enters. The staff is generally friendly and make an effort to make small talk with you. They have even offer cold beverages during longer waits. On a hot day an ice cold water is always nice. The last time I went I Waited for two hours. Five people came in after me without appointments and all got their hair cut before me. A customers wife noticed how long I was waiting and asked me if I was still waiting. I told her it's sad when you notice that before anyone working there notices. I know some of the employees made eye contact with me so it's not like my presence was unnoticed. And yes I did use there tablet to sign in as instructed. I have been here many times before and this was no doubt my last. I just got up and left without complaining saw no gain from complaining about it. Went down the street and got my hair cut at lady Janes even with waiting it only took 10-12 minutes. Molly did a great job. I know this was probably a fluke and once in a while thing, but it still left a sour taste in my mouth. I think my wait time was due to the tablet issue described above and not so much the staff trying to make me wait. Still was irritating. Overall it's an average haircut for a decent price but unfortunately I got tired of dealing with that tablet issue. I hope they fix it. read more

First time here... Was TIRED of the Lady Jane's on Ann Arbor rd in Plymouth messing up my hair 50% of the time. (Which, by the way, they BANNED me from coming back there because I voiced my opinion a few times about the shitty job they did after the cut was done. Hahaha, no worries.) So, I tried out Hair Mechanix. I don't remember her name, but she was a shorter brunette. (Actually has personality too unlike *cough* Lady Jane's girls.) I was able to have a nice conversation with her that didn't involve sports or simple addition during the cut. She took her time, instead of getting me in and out (like Lady Jane's does), and did a very good job. It's not "too short" as I've had that problem at Lady Jane's and the alignments are on (another problem I've had at Lady Jane's).... Prefer this BY FAR over Lady Janes.... Go here instead. read more

I asked the stylist to even out my beard side to side because I was growing it out long and to blend in my sideburns, which I wanted long also, to my buzz cut. What she did was cut off more than half of my beard and to buzz cut my sideburns wasting the 6 months of COVID growth. read more

We waited 45+ minutes while 4 stylists looked at Halloween pictures, when I got up to inquire status I was told that if I was signed in they would get to us eventually. After waiting an additional 5 minutes with other later arriving customers serviced we (my son and I) walked out with no intention of returning!!! read more

I got a great haircut by Ashley. She was very friendly and took her time with me. A couple days later I noticed I carelessly input the incorrect amount when using my debit card. Showed my "stylist" a picture of exactly what I wanted, then she proceeded to do something to my head and in the end it looked nothing like what I showed her, despite her telling me it does. She also told me that everyones hair is different and picture are just for ideas and this is how my hair takes to it. Funny, but none of the stylists at other places I've gone have had problems working off the same exact photo. Way too aggressive and speedy with the buzzer instead of taking time with the scissors. She had taken so much off the sides with the first pass that it was pretty much too late to stop her right off the bat. There isn't even enough left for me to go elsewhere and get it fixed, I'll need to wait for it to grow back for 2 or so weeks. Maybe this place needs to spend a little less on plastering the walls with posters of airbrushed women and car and a bit more on stylist training. Been getting my hair "did" here since it opened. Would recommend to any one who needs a good fade, cut, or hair color change. They always take care of your hair cut even if they made a mistake, But I wouldn't know about a mistake cause I've never had one. They never have made a mistake on me before. I took my 13yo son here to get his first professional haircut, because since he was a baby, he's had a small Mohawk. Which, as you can imagine, is pretty easy to maintain with a decent set of clippers. So my son came to my wife and I a few months ago asking us what we thought about growing out his hair. Of course we told him that was fine. So over the past couple of days he's been searching hairstyles, and found one that he really liked. It's a fairly modern haircut, so I wasn't exactly comfortable with going to a "Fantastic" or "Super" haircut joint. I searched out local places, and found Hair Mechanix. I looked at some of their pictures in their portfolio on their website, and felt comfortable coming here. When we arrived, we were greeted at the door by Renee. I showed her a picture of what my son wanted, with a minor adjustment here and there. She was totally cool, and re-explained what my son's expectations were, so we were on the same page. Once we were in agreement, she got to work. She nailed it perfectly. In addition to nailing the haircut, Renee was very nice and professional. I can't say enough positive things about her. My son is pretty shy, but Renee kept speaking with my son, and helped him open up and join the conversation. The shop was clean, decorated for the holidays, and seemed to be very well maintained. It's definitely a "guys place" to go get your haircuts. But don't take that the wrong way. It's not a "Bro-type" place by any means. This is the place to go, but don't take grandma. It was amazing to see what a quality haircut, from a professional person, did for my son's self-esteem. I've been watching him around the house today. He's even carrying himself differently. So much more confidence. It's so nice to see him like this. Keep up the great work Renee!! To be honest, I don't understand some of the negative reviews. If you don't come prepared with a picture, a specifically named haircut, or at the very minimum, a damn sketch of what your expectations are, don't be upset if your hair doesn't turn out like you wanted. I'm pretty sure reading minds isn't a prerequisite for being a hairstylist. So it's on YOU to be prepared. read more

Since first coming here last summer I have found this place to be disappointing. In November I was sat in a chair that was falling apart and the place felt dirty. They also didn't have enough supplies for the two girls working that day. The scary part was the "hot towel" experience as I really didn't know if they were clean as this was the conversation going on between the two gals working. Yesterday I called about open chairs and was told they had none which is fine but the person could/should have estimated a wait time for an open chair. I aired about three hours and was dropped off. I sent my wife away as there was two clients cutting cleaned up and nobody waiting. I checked in and sat down as expected. Ariel finished her client soon after then looked at me and told me she had an appointment coming in. I would have to wait for the other gal working or somebody that may or may not be coming in soon. The other gal in back really knew her client as the conversation seemed more important than the cut or the next client. Having been there about 6 times I've never experienced conversation like that in that place. Well a lady walking in with a large bag filled and left soon after she dropped the contents of her bag in the employee area. Then two gals walked in, 1 through the front door 1 through the back door. So I thought my haircut would start soon. Nope, the only person that came out was Ariel who was eating something on her way to greet her client that arrived about 25 minutes after I logged in. My wife left me to get a haircut. She went to the post five, our apartment, the gas station and the dry cleaners and then texted me that she was back to pick me up. So I got up to leave and not one person gave a shit, Ariel being the closet to watch my exit. If I could leave no stars I would so it is what it is. read more

Terrible experience! Didn't listen to what I asked for, and my haircut is pretty simple. Very simple actually. Stylist very aggressive using her clippers, it's not a race after all. I am absolutely disgusted with the way my sons hair turned out. Also disgusted at the fact the the woman cutting my sons hair (2nd chair from the front on left hand side) cut my husband off when he was telling her what my son wanted done. Instead she asked my son which she obviously didn't listen to him either because he went in their with the typical 13 yr old style (long on top and combed to one side with a hard part) and walked out with a f**king buzz cut. He can't do anything to his hair now & he refuses to even take his hood off of his head. It took him over a year to get his hair where he wanted it and now he's embarrassed for anyone to see him. If the stylist would have listened to my husband or even my son this would have never happened! I will never be back. I think you should also reconsider who is cutting hair in your establishments. If she thinks it's ok to cut off the parent telling you what you want done to your child's hair, then there is an issue before she even begins! read more

I am a perfectionist when it comes to my hair, I tried this place once and I'm defiantly hooked! Great atmosphere, nice people too. I have to admit I was reluctant because I am not normally into a flashy shop. I got one of the better haircuts from this place and I loved the fun friendly atmosphere.
