I have had my hair cut by one haircutter for 30 years.....I decided to stay in the poconos for an extended time. So I needed a haircut desperately so someone who is a local up here and highly respect suggested I go to Sonye Hair Salon. I also had my older brother staying with me and he also wanted to go but wanted to get his graying hair colored......so both of us went. We were both greeted by two women which seem to be the owner Sonye and her daughter. They were both extremely courteous and professional. I went first and then my brother......I myself was very pleased with my hair results. My brother who is extremely picky was also please with his haircut and color......as we both deal with a lot of celebrities and social back home. I do have to compliment this establishment as we are both normally difficult.....we payed and the prices were very good compared to Manhattan ,so we went out feeling great! So off we went back home and talked about the experience and we both said we would go back to this little salon in the Poconos.

Once finished, I waited at the counter for another 10 minutes to pay. Everyone was on the phone. Then went to deliver a message to someone. Finally it was my turn. I handed the woman my credit card. As I looked at the receipt, I noticed an extra charge and questioned it. Oh, she said, we charge a surplus charge of 3% for credit cards. I had cash. I have debit cards. It would have been lovely if someone mentioned this to a new customer BEFORE running my card! I'm new to the area. I'm used to a salon that is relaxing. Where there's friendly banter between stylists and customers. Where I always felt valued. There's a lot of salons out there. I'll keep looking to find one that treats me like I'm not a nuisance.

I also got a blow out and this girl pulled out a straightener... like bro I can straighten it at my own house, but I let her do it (btw my hair is naturally really curly so I always have it straightened.) this girl starts straightening it like she's never used a straightener in her life, it's also the tiniest straightener I've ever seen. I walked out with frizzy curly hair and crying. I had to go to another salon the next day to fix it and spent twice the money (and the people at the other salon thought I did it my self that's how bad it was). Her prices are very fair and she keeps uptodate by going to many conventions. Her decor is homestyle and at times a bit cluttered - if you don't like that, don't come but if you want a great haircut from a genuinely kind person at a great price....try her! I was so upset and embarrassed so went to Jennifer for a haircut first- while there we discussed how she would fix my hair! The next day I was in there and after a couple of hours - VOILA my hair was absolutely stunning! I had full foil highlights done- and then she applied what they call a GlaZe that was purple!
