Last month, Samantha did my hair - added layers, bangs, and began the process of going back to a blonde balayage. She was sooo attentive to my needs for my curly hair and extremely personable to talk with and get to know. Her energy is wonderful! She was so sweet about wanting to do more for her curly clients, and asked to try out some styling techniques she had seen online. To start out strong: I had a great experience here. I have been on the lookout for a 'forever salon' since moving to the area in 2021. I have tried a few different salons that just didn't quite work out. But at this particular salon I saw Kelly, a more experienced stylist, and asked for a haircut with lots of layers using a photo of mine from a couple years ago as reference. She expertly and efficiently gave me what I asked for. She (and the other staff I interacted with) were professional, but fun and gave me a good impression of the business. I can't believe how beautiful my hair is thanks to Kaylee. I read the reviews and decided that I would try a new salon. Well I could not be happier that I did. Ok, so a couple of years ago, I moved back to the south side, after living in Cobb County for about 10 years. One of the most stressful things about my move, was having to give up my colorist/stylist. I'm very particular about my color. Not so much my cut, as I have long straight hair that's fairly simple to style. I spent a few weeks just asking around and honestly I didn't get many leads! I think it's crazy for an area (Henry Co.) this big, not to have more classy salons, but then again, we don't even have a proper mall, or a free standing 'avenue type' place to shop! My next step was to think WAY back to when I used to go to this cute, little salon just off the square in McDonough, called Hair Smithsonian. It turns out, it's under new ownership and it's moved to a quiet little street, just off the main drag in (old town) Locust Grove. I called them up and Kelly (y'all, she does hair now, and she's awesome) answered. I ran my story by her, and she thought it best if I came in to see Kristin. Kristin the owner...not to be confused with the lovely Krystin M. whom is also a stylist there. : ) I take my boys to Krystin M. They sit super still for her. I think because she's drop dead gorgeous, and they're in a trance. : ) Anyway, by the time my appointment rolled around (only a few days after I called them), my hair was a mess. It was summertime, so it was damaged and my roots were so grown out that it looked like an oil spill with traces of gray all mixed in. Not my best look. ; ) I brought Kristin one pic of my hair on a good day, that showed what my color was supposed to look like. We chatted for a minute, and she was off to mix up some color. When she was done with my hair, I almost cried. I couldn't believe how well she matched up my colors (yes, I have to have two!) and how good my hair looked! Even now, two years later, I still leave there in total awe of her work. My hair takes forever (2 1/2 hrs.) even with someone as skilled as Kristin doing it, so she blocks extra time for my appointment. You would think with my coloring taking up so much time, her having to do two colors, her cutting my hair and blowing it out, that it would cost me a fortune, every 9 weeks. Nope!! I've been getting the same thing done to my hair for years and I've been to a lot of different salons, including Van Michael's. The only time it's ever been cheaper than Hair Smith's, is when my friend (she was an Aveda grad) used to come to my house and color it! I always feel like I'm getting the most ridiculous bargain, because if I went anywhere else, to get that kind of service (includes high end products), it would cost me twice as much, easily! I just love the fact that I don't have to fight the madness of the city and drive way out of my way. I get better a better price, better atmosphere and better quality right around the corner! Also, as if the place isn't already awesome, Kristin has great 'business sense'. She's always brainstorming about different ways to make the place better! No doubt I'll stick with this little, hidden gem forever! read more

What an amazing salon! I had Ashleigh and she is absolutely unbelievable! So professional and she knows exactly what she is doing. I have had many different stylist over the years but nobody ever seemed to get it right. But Ashleigh knew exactly what I wanted. The salon was very inviting and they do not make you wait and make you feel so welcomed. It is very clean and a place that you definitely need to make as your permanent salon. The prices are right in line and most importantly the service you receive is outstanding. I wish I could give more than 5 stars because they and Ashleigh definitely deserve it. I was truly excited for this appointment and walked out upset with dishwater hair and no one cared. Just wanted the money. In fact when I was visibly upset they walked out of the room. First, it took 3.5 hours for a service which usually takes about an hour-1.15. Why? They ran 40' late when I got there. No acknowledgment nor telling me what is happening. Then the consult. And I was very specific with exactly what I wanted. Which was completely ignored. In the end, she listed to nothing, did not blend, and the color I was excited about... she did a dirt water dull gloss. A gloss. Which will be gone shortly. Together with roots managed to charge 170 which is asinine and not even slightly blended contrary to the "plan". I was left at a sink with my head back for 35 m. I have only one other time left a salon in tears and looking worse than when I walked in. This is number 2. The OWNER stood there when I was in tears and she said nothing and walked out. Horrible customer service. No one said a word but took the money. I have rarely yelped but I will tell everyone I can because they were that uncaring and not listening. This felt more like a hair school I went to in high school in the city than a salon. read more
