The Salon, which opened about two years ago, is situated right across the road from Scoil Mochua Aghards Primary School and has lots of easy parking both in front of the Salon and across the road near the school. It is relatively bright and airy but certainly with chirpy bright staff. I had made my appointment earlier in the morning and was greeting almost immediately on arrival by my charming stylist and colourist, Iseult, but better know in the Salon as 'Issy". There was no delay and she spent a lot of time discussing my colour and what she thought would be best suited to my hair type - it was an extra bonus that the Salon happens to use the same brand of colour that I usually get. Colour on.....getting lost in up todate magazines..texting...usual relaxation mode when having a hair do...then I was taken to the basin to wash off the colour and have a good conditioning treatment, then Iseult discussed the cut that she proposed and gave my tresses ample attention before blow drying in a lovely new shorter style. I was delighted with the overall look and think Iseult did an amazing job - a warm, friendly and helpful stylist that I would highly recommend - especially for her total professionalism. I was also delighted with the price €55 for a cut, colour and blow dry - now who could argue with that! But of course I did spend about €28 extra on a bottle each of Joico shampoo and conditioner which Iseult highly recommended to keep my hair in condition and retain the colour. They also do a touch up colour, or masking as it's known, for the good value price of €30 which would do a grand job in hiding those dreaded grey hairs for a few more weeks in between main colour treatments. Better still they appear to do a roaring trade in wash and blow drys - but is it any wonder - total cost €15. Will I be changing Hair Salons?....I just think I might.....but I will wait and see how my colour lasts and if the new shampoo and conditioner were worth the extra few bob! Top marks to Iseult though for her professionalism and attention to detail - I hope the management value her as an employee.

While I found that Lauren is an incredibly busy woman and sometimes hard to get a hold of (because she's so good at what she does) when it comes to crunch time, she does a beautiful job, is a delight to work with and goes above and beyond at making sure you are happy with the end result. She listened to what I wanted and worked with me until we got it right and even gave me great ideas for my bridal party. I highly recommend her and her staff. She's phenomenal.

I went back for my appointment on a busy Saturday morning and it was obvious that the staff knew everyone. It has a lovely atmosphere. After checking I was sure I really wanted the chop - they helped me by braiding my hair for the donation and cutting it off. I then got the usual wash and cut treatment and I totally love the style Ciara gave me. Wash, cut and blowdry is normally 35, which is great value. When I went to pay they knocked ten euro off the price to contribute to my donation, which I thought was the soundest thing. Ella Hair has all the best things about being a local hairdressers and a stylish salon.

Its busy and sometimes their time keeping is bad as they overbook. Maybe trying not to disappoint customers but sitting for 45 mins waiting for an appointment to start is annoying, especially if your colour and blow-dry will take up to 4 hours. Adding anther 45 minutes on top means your day is gone. Parking is premimum and expensive with not enough spaces and they clamp so be careful.

When you get your hair washed the seat reclines back and give you a message all while listening to nice relaxing music. On top of that they even offer a head massage! Amy was great because I wasn't sure what I wanted and talked me through a few different styles. She really took her time with the cut and was meticulous with my fringe, chopping tiny sections after it was blow dried. My hair was too long to hold the curl properly and was a style that didn't really suit me. After the wedding, I just decided to continue to grow my hair. I had gone this far, I decided I wanted to donate it. I went to one hairdresser and excitedly told them that I would be donating my hair and just wanted a trim. She cut layers into it. I was devastated, but decided to persevere. So, when I finally got to the length I wanted (on my longest layer), I put out the call on facebook to my friends. Who knew a hairdresser that I could trust? Two of my friends, who's hair I always admired said they went to the same hairdresser. So I took myself along to Hair Therapy in Maynooth and met with Emma. I told her I wanted to donate my hair and showed her some photos of Emma Stone, who's short cut I loved. Well. Emma is a hero. She has the hands of an artist. I've never received so many compliments on my hair. Straight, curly, just out of the shower, wind-blown, whatever, 2 months later, the cut hasn't lost it's shape and it is so easy to style. The salon staff made a huge deal out of me, took photos and were so friendly. They even gave me a rose as it was Valentines weekend. Emma and Joan are so delicious, I could eat them up!! I'm trying to grow my hair out and also decided that since I'm in Ireland, I needed to go red. Emma eased me into the colour with a lovely auburn. Then she gave me this amazing cut that needs very little daily maintenance. I also bought some Sebastian Hydre shampoo and conditioner and I swear, my hair has never been this soft. Joan just trimmed and thinned out any weighty hair on my second visit and gave me this cute pixie detail on one side of my bangs. Love it! Then she told me not to cut it for four months so it will grow out. She also convinced me to go with a more vibrant shade of red. I'm not gonna lie, I was a kinda terrified, but both these ladies understand colour so well, that I was thrilled with the result. Not only are Emma and Joan adept at what they do, they make the whole experience fun. We had some really good conversations and lots of laughs. Oh, and you get tea and cookies!!!
