I went back for my appointment on a busy Saturday morning and it was obvious that the staff knew everyone. It has a lovely atmosphere. After checking I was sure I really wanted the chop - they helped me by braiding my hair for the donation and cutting it off. I then got the usual wash and cut treatment and I totally love the style Ciara gave me. Wash, cut and blowdry is normally 35, which is great value. When I went to pay they knocked ten euro off the price to contribute to my donation, which I thought was the soundest thing. Ella Hair has all the best things about being a local hairdressers and a stylish salon.

I don't get my hair cut very often,…read moremaybe 3 times a year at most, mostly because I can't decide on one hairstyle and am forever growing it thinking I want it long then heading to the hairdresser for a right chop. Deirdre has been great in styling my hair to my needs. I decided to go natural for a few months and stop straightening my hair, she cut it for wavy and the odd straight day. She has also not been shy to advise me against certain styles and suggest others. She listens to me in the consultation and is the only hairdresser (bar one of her stylists) I have come across who actually listens to me and does what I want. Now, she is on the pricey side, €50 for a cut, which I didn't think was that bad, but friends tell me that they wouldn't pay that much. I find that the styles she has given me, though, grow out quite well and therefore I don't need to go back for months on end. My mum uses this service every 8 weeks or so for a cut and colour. My sister also goes to Deridre for a cut, only about as often as me (4 months-ish) and we have all found ourselves going back to this salon with a greater loyalty than to any other.

I was getting a good six inches off it so was very nervous going in! Deirdre was brilliant, talked me through it and then cut & sculpted my hair to perfection! I love the pink velvet flock wall paper and the girls all dressed in black and ready with clippers and/or color in hand to make you look good as you face the world! Also a simple root touch-up is only 25 euro - now who can beat that?! Color me 'blush and bashful' and wash those silvery strands away while you're at it girls!

It is not very clean (not cleaned after each cut) and everything is a bit outdated. And then the hairdresser (Amy) does not do what you ask but basically what she wants and apparently the only cut she knows. When you complain and say this is not what you wanted (despite explaining it twice before the cut), she is the one who is angry and instead of apologising that a customer did not get the service she paid for, she argues that she is the hairdresser and therefore knows how to cut hair and that she doesn't need my explanations to do her job. Disappointed by my experience…read more The staff are ok, the lady washing my hair did not smile or speak to me, the lady on reception was lovely and the lady styling my hair did curse a few times which I found unprofessional but I wouldn't have left a review if it was just based on personality. The person that washed my hair didn't actually wash it properly and by this I mean the right hand side of head was left still half dry and from the top of my head to the base of my neck all this hair was just not washed correctly. The water was tepid at best and it's like they are on a shampoo ration, I got one shampoo and I don't even think it lathered as there was so little of it. I asked for a curly blow dry with big bouncy curls and they couldn't do it, I was left with long stringy bits that were done with a flat iron (not a hairdryer and brushes) and looked like I had gotten out of bed after spending three days in bed with a fever, you know that look where your hair is kinda flat and stringy from sweating and lying on it when sick in bed, that is what I felt it looked like? This whole appointment took an hour and half nearly. It was very cheap so maybe people go here because of that but I would rather actually have my hair washed and blow dried correctly for double the money. Just awful.

The hairdressers can do or fix any hair colours, styles or cuts you might desire. I had been searching for years to find a salon that could give me the perfect blonde as my hair is so dark. These girls looked at my hair and within 5 minutes had told me what I needed and said it would not be a problem. You also do not break the bank going here and as the upkeep on my particular hairstyle requires me to visit the salon once every month I love the atmosphere along with paying a reasonable rate. The entire salon from clients and hairdressers are engaged in interesting conversation as it is a very relaxed and girly environment. Every once in a while the beautician might throw in a free treatment if you are waiting for a colour which is an added bonus. The lady that owns this place "Tish" is one of the most professional and nicest people you will meet and I love when she advises on product etc as she is always spot on with everything.
