I had arrived a little early and waited for my time in the barber chair. Eventually, Shawnda called me to the back of the room to the barber chair. I sat down, and did my usual greeting. She knew what type of haircut I wanted, draped me in a black cover, and went to work cutting my hair. In the past I had told her "Caesar" (short cut), "1 and a half" (clipper attachment), "Round in the back" ( back of my neck), and "Keep my sides" (Sideburns on my face) is the haircut I always want. While she was cutting my hair there was some small talk and eventually she was done. Then I looked at my hair in the mirror. I was pleased and felt good about my new look. Thank you Shawnda. She reeked of cigarette smoke, didn't have any inspiration for how to cut my hair and ended up trimming it a tiny amount and then let it dry "naturally". I could have done a better job myself at home. It took 15mins in total and i have never felt less attractive - the shampoo was more worth the cost! The whole purpose of the appointment was for me the way she said it was very rude. Made me feel uncomfortable that if I said, yes, she would be upset and I didn't want someone upset doing my hair and if I said no, she was happy to take the boys then in the middle, so she cut all three boys hair she had text messaged me a price I go up to pay the girl at the desk says to me that's two little boys haircuts an adult male men's haircut and a partial highlight. It was all I could do not to say do I look like I got my hair highlighted when we were only there in an hour and a half.. the price was way more then she had text me . She did not wash or dry the boys hair. on top of it, she says to me well we could've done your highlights but I need to finish the other customer firsts seriously I am going to wait an hour while she finished her. I don't have the time and she knew how hard it is for me to come on weekdays. she still had a customer that just had her foils removed and was just washed by "an assistant who still was getting a cut and blowout. I think it was rude. It was disrespectful and she owes me an apology. I will never go there again. She kept offering to reschedule me well again my time is very limited once baseball season starts for the boys. I don't get any time that's why this Saturday was so important February 14. I visited this salon for the first time tonight and I literally feel like my life has changed. I…read morehave very curly natural hair and getting it straight has always been a challenge. Typically when someone tries to straighten it, the ends never lay flat and it gets really frizzy. I got it washed and deep conditioned, blow dried and straightened and everything took less than 2 hours. I will definitely be returning! I will add a picture of what my hair looks like normally and how it looked when Shakira was done. Forewarning I do need a trim and she told me that but I wasn't ready to say goodbye to any length tonight.
