I visited this salon for the first time tonight and I literally feel like my life has changed. I…read morehave very curly natural hair and getting it straight has always been a challenge. Typically when someone tries to straighten it, the ends never lay flat and it gets really frizzy. I got it washed and deep conditioned, blow dried and straightened and everything took less than 2 hours. I will definitely be returning! I will add a picture of what my hair looks like normally and how it looked when Shakira was done. Forewarning I do need a trim and she told me that but I wasn't ready to say goodbye to any length tonight.

Fui solamente a estirarme la raíz después de habérmelo lavado, puesto los rolos y secado en casa. Le expliqué más de una vez que solo quería que me bajaran únicamente la raíz. Cuando me di cuenta de que estaba pasando el secador por todo el largo del cabello, le recordé nuevamente que era solo la raíz y que no tenía protector de calor. Me cobraron $45 por un servicio que era únicamente para la raíz, y salí con el cabello pajoso y con un fuerte olor a quemado por el blower. No quedé satisfecha con la experiencia. Les importa el dinero, pero no el cuidado ni la salud del cabello. Si van a dar tanto calor por lo menos les deberia de importar protejer el cabello. Y tambien deberia de importar lo que la cliente pida y no hacer lo que les de la gana. Fue dinero perdido, porque ahora tengo que volver a lavarme el pelo por lo pajoso que quedó y el olor a quemado.

I had arrived a little early and waited for my time in the barber chair. Eventually, Shawnda called me to the back of the room to the barber chair. I sat down, and did my usual greeting. She knew what type of haircut I wanted, draped me in a black cover, and went to work cutting my hair. In the past I had told her "Caesar" (short cut), "1 and a half" (clipper attachment), "Round in the back" ( back of my neck), and "Keep my sides" (Sideburns on my face) is the haircut I always want. While she was cutting my hair there was some small talk and eventually she was done. Then I looked at my hair in the mirror. I was pleased and felt good about my new look. Thank you Shawnda. That's fine. I still have paid just around $150ish, even when I started and restarted the highlighting process. My hair is mid length, just below shoulders and looked "puffy" (Caucasian / Hispanic frizz) bc I washed, brushed and didn't straighten beforehand. I have been going to similar salon/spa in yorktown to get my hair done at a salon that is gorgeous inside and out. Same at my old Virginia Beach salon. Average pay is around $150ish for cut and full highlight! (I had to Google what the common costs were bc the owner was a bit snarky on my review. I'm not crazy! $350 is like NYC 2022 highlight prices or high end. Toner is only supposed to add a small amount extra.) I would understand if charged more for a super cute spa facility (see outside photos - it's in the corner of a big lots shopping center), or if the prices listed online would've given me any heads up, but what a waste of time to get a consultation at a seemingly hole-in-the-wall facility at such an excessive cost. (The inside was way cuter than the outside, but I wouldn't be comfortable walking around the area at night...)

I didn't notice it until I got to the car and looked in the mirror and thought omg I have somewhere else to go looking like this. My hair looked great though. She did a great job. Reason for a less star is when I called to ask about prices, I was given one price. I wasn't told blow dry was an additional cost. So I'm going in thinking I'm going to spend $100 after tip. $80 for roots and $20 tip. I was offered one other service which I figured there would be a fee and took it. When I got the total owed at end I was floored it was approx $180. It was $40 or $45 for blow dry. I wasn't told that on the phone. I wasn't asked if I wanted my hair blow dryer. I would've said yes but I should've been told it is an extra fee when I called about price. I do not blame he lady who did my hair as she wasn't part of the phone conversation. So even with the added service I thought was going to pay $150 after tip. Nope. Thanks to the blow dry fee it was over $200! When people call and ask for price for roots and full dye, let customers know blow dry is an added charge. I'm new to the area and not use to that. You can't just assume people know. I never thought to ask about that be an arrival charge because I've never heard of it before.

The salon is clean and beautiful We went in for a consult, my daughter's birthday was that week and we also wanted to pamper her a bit we were able to get an appt the next day but as we went to drive away John came out and asked if we could work with him, and he would do it today if we could be flexible with the time frame which actually did not seem to be an issue My daughter's hair came out beautifully. He listened to exactly what she wanted, he cut and then dyed it, washed it, styled it straitened it he was so kind with her as she a bit shy.
