My stepdad lost his wife to cancer. He's legally blind, and while living lone for a month during the short battle with cancer, he didn't have a beard trim. The stylist cleaned him up quite nicely, sculpting the facial hair deftly, and bringing better definition to what had become rather rough. It was nice, quiet, efficient, and fast. Full highlights quoted $350. Mind blown. Half highlights quoted $200. I asked for light highlights. She said she would have to restart on my already highlighted (with roots) hair. That's fine. I still have paid just around $150ish, even when I started and restarted the highlighting process. My hair is mid length, just below shoulders and looked "puffy" (Caucasian / Hispanic frizz) bc I washed, brushed and didn't straighten beforehand. I have been going to similar salon/spa in yorktown to get my hair done at a salon that is gorgeous inside and out. Same at my old Virginia Beach salon. Average pay is around $150ish for cut and full highlight! (I had to Google what the common costs were bc the owner was a bit snarky on my review. I'm not crazy! $350 is like NYC 2022 highlight prices or high end. Toner is only supposed to add a small amount extra.) I would understand if charged more for a super cute spa facility (see outside photos - it's in the corner of a big lots shopping center), or if the prices listed online would've given me any heads up, but what a waste of time to get a consultation at a seemingly hole-in-the-wall facility at such an excessive cost. I called for an appointment and they scheduled me the very next day! My stylist was Glenda, and she was super friendly and really good at her job. I showed her a photo of the style I was going for and she went over it with me in detail to make sure she understood what I wanted. My hair cut turned out fabulous! She cut off all my fried ends and my hair has never looked healthier! Glenda was also extremely knowledgeable about the Aveda line of hair products, but I never felt like she was pushing me to buy anything I didn't need. I want to preface my review by stating I went here with a mess of a head. I have been working on growing out bleach damage and a bad haircut, and it had been a year since my last cut. I went in for a cut and a B3 treatment. My stylist, Bethany, was running a bit late for my appt. I was ok with this, things happen. Someone else helped out by starting me - getting my hair shampooed and put the B3 treatment in my hair. This is the part of my appt I was disappointed with. My hair was scrubbed into a rats nest with what smelled/felt like a clarifying shampoo (or maybe just a tea tree blend of some sort). My already easily tangled and damaged hair was very matted so she couldn't comb the treatment through my hair to make it evenly distributed. It was sort of smoothed on the top layer and she eventually gave up trying to comb it and just clipped it up and put me under the steamer - with a plastic cap on my hair which was odd. But I'm sure the heat helped anyway. The haircut part of my appt I am very satisfied with. I had very crooked layers and my hair is long. Cutting layers in long hair can be a challenge to make straight. But fixing a bad layered cut is a bugger challenge I know. Bethany was very patient about me asking her 4 times to fix areas and blend the layers for me. She made sure I walked out feeling confident with my fixed cut. Altogether I am pleased with my hair, and for the price along with the friendliness of the staff there, I'll likely go back when I'm ready for a trim and another conditioning treatment as I grow out more of this damaged hair. read more

When I first came to this salon I asked my stylist Mickala to make me blonde, my hair was black and had previously been through multiple stylists in texas that disappointed me. Not this salon however! After some sessions I finally got my dream hair, and even the inbetween color was a gorgeous look. Naturally, when people with dark hair like mine go blonde, it damages and makes hair frizzy. Mine however is healthy as ever thanks to the educated and careful stylists here-they know what they're doing and do it well! 10/10 would recommend this place to anyone. Not to mention, the staff is very kind and friendly and listens to what you want. I found this place on Yelp (thanks Yelp!) looking for a good place to get my hair done. My hair is not easy to deal with. I have a lot of it and it's very thick and long. I rarely have a good haircut so I was really taking a risk on this place by getting not only my hair cut but getting a Brazilian Blowout as well. This was my first BB too so I was dubious as to how well it would work in my hair. My hair is insanely kinky and frizzy and causes me an immense amount of distress. I'll have to report back after a wash or two, your hair always looks amazing after a salon visit, but so far my hair looks and feels amazing! So much less frizz! My hair stylist was Crystal and she was great. Professional and courteous definitely but friendly and personable as well. She wasn't pushy about trying to sell me things or tell me I needed a bunch of garbage for my hair I know I don't need. She talked me through the whole process and was very gentle. I have a disease that makes any contact with my face or scalp hurt like hell and she was very understanding and did everything she could to minimize my pain. I really appreciated that. I got my eyebrows waxed here as well. This is really one stop shopping for salon needs. Now my whole head looks great! Really love this place and very happy to have finally found a salon for me. **update** So I had to post this update because who's hair doesn't look amazing right after leaving the salon? That's kind of the point! Happy to report I have washed my hair twice and it STILL looks amazing! As good as when Crystal did it? No, but I'm no pro. The first time I washed it I let it air dry and I was shocked at how straight and frizz free my hair was. This treatment completely changed the texture of my hair! Second time I blow dried it and took a flat iron to some parts and with all that work it looked no better than letting it air dry so happy to report I won't have to do that again! I will hopefully remember to report back on how long it lasts. **update** So, it's been a month since my blowout and I'm devastated. My hair stylist was very nice, but the issue was with my cut. I asked to leave longest layers and to cut several layers so as to have a waterfall look as I've gotten several times before. Before I left the first time, as I was walking out, a coworker pointed out to my stylist that was hair was uneven at a certain spot so we went back to the chair to cut it where it was uneven. I noticed at home that, whether straightened or curly, my hair was very uneven on one side vs the other and was a lot shorter than asked for, looked like a good 3inch was cut off. I called, told them about my cut, and was booked back the same day I called to check it. It was so uneven that one side of my ponytail was clearly and obviously longer than the other and it looked very odd. I've always had my hair cut in layers and never come across this issue. This is where I'm forever LOST AS A CUSTOMER and won't be going back. I WAS CHARGED for my cut the 2nd time even though I told them and my stylist it was uneven the first time and needed to be fixed and I had called within a 5 day window of the original cut. read more

Mikayla is AMAZING!!! Cut my daughter and My hair last Thursday and it turned out exactly how I wanted for both of us. My daughters hair is super thick and has a mind of its own she had gotten it cut somewhere else and it looked dull. But Mikayla made it so much lighter and gave it the movement she wanted. On to my hair, it's curly and it's hard to get a good cut. Went to her in December she did great at fixing another salons mess up. 6 months later we went even shorter and it's even better!! I was growing out weird layers from a bad haircut so I saw Crystal, for the first time, in September. She did a decent job considering what she had to work with. Went back to Crystal recently for another trim and now I have more weird layers. I asked, both times, for a blunt cut with no layers and a slight angle in the front. My daughter also came with me to get a trim and also get her ends dyed (Teal). The Stylist: I went for my consultation with Crystal, and she was very honest with me as far as my expectations , she said because of my very dark roots that she would get as close as possible to the color I wanted (I have been trying to get this color (bright copper orange) for yeeears). I set up the appt for the next day. She was all ready for me and my daughter. She was amazing! She was sweet , she took her time, you can tell that this is something she was confident about and really enjoyed. You know how some stylists are kind of rough with your hair? You could tell that they were "A team". They helped one another out (I don't mean like they didn't know what they were doing) I mean in the way, that there were no "egos" and they know how precious time is for their customers . When one wasn't busy with another customer they helped out with whatever needed attention, whether that was sweeping, cleaning, or helping out with a customer ( example: while I was getting my hair dyed , another stylist wasn't busy so she washed my daughters hair, so she wasn't just waiting around). You can tell they had great comradery and genuinely wanted to help one another. The environment: very clean, organized was peaceful. They had soft mellow music but also had a tv (that wasn't blasting) so u could keep entertained lol That may seem confusing but somehow it works lol! Basically whatever you chose to listen to, you heard lol Overall: great experience!! I wasn't in there all day, it took about 3 1/2 hours all together for both me and my daughters hair. I received a service from them on Friday. It was supposed to be a balayage but I left with streaky highlights. I sent them a message via yelp letting them know I wasn't happy and that I wanted to have some fix my hair. Kylie called me this morning and said that the earliest they could get me in was next Wednesday. I questioned this as I couldn't believe I was going to have to walk around not feeling my best for over a week. I let her know I would be going somewhere else and as I hung up I could hear her laugh and say "okay". I now understand why they have you sign a disclaimer at the beginning of your service saying no refunds are offered, because they can't guarantee their employees work. I am in and out in less than an hour and my hair is silky straight and healthy looking. I have long hair and it is natural and again I am in and out in under an hour looking and feeling fabulous. The staff is very professional and polite. Stylists concentrate on you and your needs while you are there. No answering personal cell phone calls and talking to someone on the line while doing your hair. Tea or coffee is available while you are being styled. This girl place has terrible service I had Glenda (who keep in mind is the manager) she decided to do my makeup first and she used this cheesy nock Off of a naked pallet which was okay I suppose but she used the black eyeshadow as liner and my eyebrows and used it for my eyes which she took a bright whiteish color and put it all the way up to my brows( also keep in mind I am mixed and am tan but do not have black eyebrows) so I looked crazy! Then she attempted to put lashes on me and glued my eyes shut! Then had the audacity to laugh in my face! After reading the reviews on yelp I was very excited to come and get my hair cut. Overall I loved how they cut my hair. I signed up for there points system and left. Once I was home I looked over my receipt sent to my text and saw their was a $10 charge for a flat iron I never received or asked for. I am new to Virginia and searching for a great salon. Bobbie Glen looked great online, so I gave it a try. The cut I got from Glenda was good, she did exactly what I asked for. The problem is, she didn't talk to me at all! I tried to start up conversation several times, but she didn't take the bait. I left feeling very uncomfortable and unwelcome. Glenda did a good job on foil highlights, but made me stay in the chair an extra 40 minutes after she forgot to touch up my roots. I was a new client, and I've never been to a salon that did not AUTOMATICALLY color tour roots. The shock of $190 For my short hair, well substantially shorter hair now was completely unexpected for the Hampton area. Inside the beltline of DC, yes; but not for a strip mall setting in Hampton.
