I'll keep it simple and i'll keep it honest. I don't normally come in here to get my hair cut or done. I have a stylist that i've stuck with RELIGIOUSLY for the better part of 18 years. But I couldn't get in with her and I had an event to attend in 24 hours. So, I figured... all I want is a trim, it shouldn't be that bad. What could go wrong? ... Little did I know.... Although the atmosphere inside the shop was warm and welcoming, I felt nothing but rushed from the moment I took a seat in the chair. I asked for a trim of dead ends, with layers, a loss of no more than 2 inches... and what I ended up with was an excessively short, unevenly layered MESS. My hair is going to take a lot of time to recover and to say i'm fuming is an understatement. I have learned my lesson, however and I will never go to anyone else but my standard stylist again. I need a haircut before leaving on a trip, my regular place was close. I went here, big mistake. Worst haircut ever. They only take cash.

At first I was nervous about another stylist to cut my hair, but I decided to take a chance. Keep in mind I'm very picky about my cut. I walked in and was greeted by a young woman by the name of Angelica. I looked around and it was very clean inside. Angelica called my name and I sat in the chair. Still kinda nervous but I began to conversation which ease the tension. She began to cut my hair and to may surprise it was done in a timely manner. Once Angelica was done I was in shock. The hair cut was by far better than my old hair stylist which I've gone for 15 years. I thanked her and praised her for the awesome experience. The price was relatively fair, so I gave her a nice tip. I highly recommend this place neverthelessless my new hair stylist "Angelica". read more

The girls were super nice with my son and me I loved how they received walk ins. The girls were super fast and friendly. I was satisfied with my sons hair cut and got one myself. IF you choose to go here, and you don't already know who you want to cut your hair, make sure to ask for one of the Cindy's. There are two people there who's name is Cindy and they are both great. You will get an accurate hair cut. There may be other accurate and talented hair cutters there, but I can only report on what I know. I'm not going to bash or slander any particular person, but the problem is we've had 2 extremely crooked hair cuts by 2 different people. Then when I said something, I was dismayed at the way it was handled both times. I think the owner, Sal, is very diplomatic and professional, but that doesn't help when he is never on site and his employees are being rude and obnoxious. I personally will not step foot in that establishment again if I can help it. My children might go, and if they do they will make sure to ask for one of the nice, talented ladies named CINDY! read more

I went here for at least ten years, and always came away satisfied. The wait has never been unbearably long, the staff is friendly and helpful, and I've always liked the cut I've gotten. The price is especially good if you snag one of the coupons from the back of a local grocery store receipt. :) I personally recommend asking for Cindy if you go. She was my favorite, and apparently quite a few other people's, too, as when I wrote "Aubree (Cindy)" down on the waiting list, there were always at least five other names with the same request. read more

I have gone here several times now. I go to see Angelica. She was fantastic when I tried, on my own to go from blonde to box red and came in to see her with pink hair. She made me the gorgeous red I was wanting. That was my very first visit to see her. Then after about 6 months as a redhead I decided I wanted to go back to blonde and she did an incredible job. What happened to this place? We used to come frequently and never had an issue. This last time I brought my kids it was like a chop shop cut for both of them!!! The WORST haircuts we've ever experienced. My daughter looked worse after her cut than when we went in. Totally uneven, asked for layers and the top layer was longer on top! What in the world? I My other kids haircut was very choppy and uneven. I took elsewhere to fix it. Awful and we will not be back. Also, cash or check only. read more

My last 3 haircuts from here by chance have been with the same lady and I don't know her name. All 3 times there have been big mistakes made. The haircut was simply to shave the sides of my head as short as possible and leave the long hair on top untouched (the long hair is a cultural thing) today after my hair cut I run my finger through my hair and a big chunk of my long hair falls out! I was 3/4 the way home so I did not go back to address it. Once home even more came out and there is a noticeable dent in my hair line on the back of my head where the chunk was. My father went in for a haircut here recently, he said his haircut wasn't clean on the back of his head. This review is for Cindy Gilroy. She has worked there for MANY years. She is very good, accurate and can make recommendations if you ask. I only lived in Hollister while I was going to high school but didn't start going to her til after I graduated. So since then, whenever I go to town to visit my family my daughter and I go for our trims. The only other person who cut my hair well was Joey Stevenson in SF, but I don't travel there anymore. Other places I have tried in the towns I've lived in botch up my hair. Cindy notices. She says "who cut your hair?!". So I've learned my lesson and will only go to her. She is an expert at haircuts and you can't beat $14 for a woman's haircut ($4 more if you want a shampoo). This is not a high end salon, but you will get a great cut with Cindy Gilroy! read more

I've been going here for the past few months since I moved to Hollister. I haven't had a problem with any of my haircuts and I have had a different person cut my hair each time. I have never had to wait longer than 5 mins and everyone there is friendly. Prices are not expensive and I would recommend anyone if there are in need of a haircut. read more

Clean. Clean. Clean. I love this place. I take my 3 boys here. The stylists are all great. Towards the back are bins filled with quats. All are clearly labeled to indicate dirty, sanitizing & sanitized. I appreciate that combs, brushes, etc. are not reused before being cleaned. The prices a great. We keep an eye out for the coupons that come in the mail. The boys have had many styles from classic cut to Mohawks and all turned out great. read more

Not coming back here the one girl with the platinum blond hair with the straight cut bangs that looks like a creepy china doll gave me an attitude. Wouldn't even bother conversing she just seemed like she was doing her job to make money. She asked me what I wanted and laughed and said "Ok..." Also she cut my sideburns uneven so I had to go home and do it myself and didn't show the back of my neck with a mirror when finished like most do. She just wiped me off and "You're done" wow great service lady... I have been going here monthly for about a year for both me and my son. I have had mixed results, but most have been good. (naturally some are better than others) The last time I went in, there was a new lady there who apparently speaks little to no English. (pretty much no english) I asked for a particular haircut for my son (a razor cut) and after about 40 minutes (i got the same haircut as my son from another lady there and was done for at least 25 minutes when he was finally done) of her cutting his hair, his hair cut was incorrect. I asked for a #3 razor cut on top and she scissor cut it, too long, and spiked it. When I asked about it, she told me in broken English, "no, this looks better." She recut it at my demand and it was still just a poor haircut. when I expressed displeasure in the haircut, nothing was done. I was still charged full price and was questioned as to why I didn't tip. I had to take him somewhere to get the haircut corrected after paying them for the bad haircut. Now I understand that this was apparently a new lady there, but no one else intervened, including the manager who stood at a distance and listened to the whole ordeal. I will say that Gwen is a sweetheart and has always given a good haircut. Unfortunately, on most days, like the day mentioned above, she has at least a couple of people waiting for her. This can make the wait time very long. If you choose to go here, wait for Gwen or one of the reputable ladies and don't be tempted by the ones without a wait. read more
