However they gave my mother a haircut that she HATED. She had to shave her head because of how bad it is she said she looked like a white supremacist. But it wasn't really much of a problem. I would love to say this hair salon is "excellent" as I don't like writing bad reviews, however, I have been a regular customer here and have always enjoyed its proximity to Fred Meyers and other shopping outlets but it's important to warn anyone who chooses this salon! Customer service is more than lacking, but you wouldn't know it until you're experiencing it. On a busy day, you wouldn't notice it. I'll try to explain. When arriving at this Salon, it was empty, but it was open with no one to be found. I waited several minutes, only to discover that there were two barbers in the back room chatting, laughing and having a good time. I waited patiently. It took some time, but they discovered I was waiting in their lobby and walked out to tell me that I couldn't recieve a haircut today as they were fully booked. I couldn't help but feel as if that was simply an excuse to dismiss me, and instead of offering another time, rearranging another appointment, or asking if I'd like to wait for a slot to open up, I was given a blank stare with a forced smile. I apologized for my confusion (because why argue with bad customer service?) I knew the manager and of course there was no arguing. Do yourself a favor and save your money for a shop that cares about your experience. These guys could learn a few things about business and clearly your experience could matter less. Due to convenience-I have given this place several tries in hopes to get a good person but I am done with this place. DONE Customer service is horrific! "No apt necessary" is supposed to be a convenience but I have stood at the front desk waiting to check in and had to wait for such a long time I walked out. This has happened several times. When we walked in we were not greeted at all and there was one customer getting his hair cut. It took the other lady 15 min before she finally greeted us. Okay I'm not going to say that this place is the worst haircut I've ever had but it was pretty close. I'm mostly blaming it on the lady who actually cut my hair. She was older and probably didn't know how to do a disconnected undercut. I was very precise with my instructions I said I wanted a 2 on the side faded down to a 1 with a hard part. I also told her to take an inch off the top. Instead of listening to me she just used a 2 for the sides and didn't give me a fade like I had asked for. She also completely fucked the hard part and made it look off. I was charged almost 19$ for my haircut which is a pretty high price for a men's haircut. I wasn't offered to sample any product at the end of my cut, I wasn't given a warm towel on the back of my neck, or a mini massage like you get from "the barbers" barbershop a few blocks away. i came in here on a thursday night because my curly, fine hair was getting too long and out of control. after reading the reviews on yelp, i was a little nervous. but i was armed with a coupon for a $10.99 adult haircut, so i figured as long as i didn't have kids and had pictures of what my cut should look like, i should be fine. i was promptly greeted as soon as i walked in, but of course, there were no other customers in the salon, so it'd be hard to miss me! the woman who greeted me had curly hair, such an auspicious sign! i knew this was where i was meant to get my hair cut. the woman, whose name is Erica, seated me in her chair and began to discuss my hair: how curly it is, the types of curls i have, how the curls react when it's cut short, where i parted my hair, what products i used, if i flat ironed my hair. i absolutely was in awe--most of the time, no hairstylist ever asks me about my hair and i end up with weird hair cuts. this visit was off to a great start! after deciding on the length, Erica got down to business snipping away and chatting me up. she's very talkative and has some really hilarious stories! she also let me in on a tip: if you, as a customer, aren't interested in chatting it up with your hairstylist, the universal sign is to close your eyes. Erica told me how she had previously worked at great clips (or super cuts) and was really disappointed in not be able to connect to her customers because she had to give haircuts within a specific amount of time. she also said that she really liked working at hairmasters because not only was she able to connect with customers, but she could also spend the extra time working with them on creating the perfect haircut. after trimming up the back, she started to work on the sides, angling it towards the front. then, she trimmed my bangs and blended them into the sides--exactly how i wanted it! i have such a cute angled curly bob now! the haircut is great for my face shape and helps me to be more in control of my curls. Erica gets 5 gold stars in my book! if you have curly hair and are on a budget, you should definitely pay a visit to Erica! she won't even push any products on you. if you're turned off by the other reviews for this place on yelp, make an appointment with Erica--she's friendly and fabulous! she's willing to listen to you and work with you to get their haircut that you want. read more

THE WORST customer service experience has happened to me at this salon in Corvallis!!! The lady was so RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL!!! THE WORST GREETING Ive had in our nice little town!! I get my hair done at a salon every couple months or so, and since I got some free time I didn't want to wait and decided to come in and get a full all over highlights to refresh the blonde that I already have. So I came in smiling and started asking this Slavic lady at the front desk about the products that they use and what I would like to get done that day. Then I stopped noticing that this lady doesnt want me to continue speaking by the way she was looking at me with a weird smile on her face. I asked what is wrong and she said that they don't sell products??!!! Umm what??? Did I ask to sell me their products?? She didn't pay any attention on what I was telling her. So having that spiteful look on her face she asked like she was almost disgusted by my hair or smth "what is that?" pointing at my hair that has a pink vivid color that I didnt want to be touched that day. So without even properly greeting me I had to get every single word out of her like I am the one providing services. I totally understand why there was no clients there at all. After couple minutes of total disrespect I just smiled at her, said thanks nevermind and left. She just kind of laughed back at me while I was heading out. I couldn't believe the way I was treated by her!!!! I came in to spend my money, and enjoy my time away from school and work but instead I left with this horrible feeling of being disrespected! I had a good experience a while ago by another girl who did my hair and sold me their products. However, even back then I noticed that lady and the way she treated some of her customers that were younger looking than her. I don't know what is her problem but she ruins the reputation of this place! Many people complain about her attitude and that resting "****" look on her face that tells she has no interest or desire to talk to new customers or even be there! I just don't understand why people work this kind of jobs that require a good communication and customer service skills! It's just terrible the way she made me feel !! When I called and asked to speak with her I was told that she was with another customer which I really doubt. When I explained what happened to another person on the phone she didn't even apologize. I can't argue with any others' experiences, but in my case, I have never seen or experienced anything but good service at Hairmasters. Both my mother and I have Shannon cut our hair. She is always sweet and professional, and gives a good cut for a VERY reasonable price. My hair gives me grief so in search of a miraculous, life-transforming cut, I have occasionally gone elsewhere -- only to return and have Shannon repair the damage. read more

I have never given an online review before, but thought some balance was needed here. My whole family has been going to Hair Masters in Corvallis for several years and find it friendly and professional. I have never been treated rudely, nor have I seen other customers being treated rudely. I have a child who is difficult when getting his haircut, and the staff has always been respectful and worked hard to help him through his hair cuts. My husband, daughter, and myself have always been engaged in conversation by the stylists while having our hair cuts. Between the lot of us, we've had experiences with all the stylists and they are all really nice, good and hard working people. This is not a high end salon and the prices reflect that. The hair cuts are adequate to good, considering what they charge and allowing walk-ins. If you want a really good hair cut, you wouldn't be going to a cheaper, walk-in place, right? For those pp who are not aware: you are allowed to sign yourself in when no one is available to write your name for you on the sign-up sheet. They keep the costs down by not having a receptionist. Instead, the hair stylists take turns answering the phone and putting names on the sign up sheet. Again, it's not a hand-holding, posh salon here, but you knew that. It's a good idea to remember that our own behavior does affect how others treat us. Our children will be perceptive about how we feel and behave toward others, and their behavior may be a reflection of our own attitudes and behaviors. read more

Here is the story: I went there first in the morning 9am. There was only one customer behind me. She did not greet me whatsoever, that's fine. Then she asked me what hair style that I want, and I showed her the pic, then she started to doing her thing, rush within 10 min. Honestly that was the worst haircut that I ever had. She did not clean up at all, and trying to charge me 18.75 which is the full cut&shampoo price. After I questioned about it, she said no matter what, it's gonna be 18.75. I was like ARE YOU kIDDING? When I called HairMasters I wanted to get my eyebrows threaded she said they did have someone. I said ok and told her to let me call around and see if anybody else had a better price. Nobody did. So I called back the woman answered and I made an appointment for eyebrow threading. I showed up and the woman at the desk in a snotty tone sai they only did eyebrow waxing. I told her the woman on the phone said that she had me for eyebrow threading but the woman kept telling me that they only waxing but she was extremely rude and disrespectful. read more

My son has been getting hair cuts here since he was 2. They were very helpful with video tapes and a cool chair. He is now 18 and has been getting his cuts from Kathy for the past many years. The guys in the family have been going here for years - lately every time we call up to make an appointment they claim they don't have any openings. They do not offer another time/date/stylist. This seems strange - so I have the guys go over for a walk in, all four come home with new cuts. You tell me. Prices have gone up recently, but you can often find some 2 buck coupons. I tip Kathleen huge - she is fantastic (always wondering why she hasn't opened up her own store).
