She stated that bringing my own hair was absolutely acceptable. Since the makeup of her clientele is children ages 3-18, she assured me the staff would be understanding of my nieces needs. She was so nice over the phone and answered all of my questions. It was very simple to book the appointment with a 25.00 deposit to hold her spot . As the appointment time was near I received reminder text messages until the last 30 minutes to the appointment time. If you set an appointment with Kiddos and forget the date and time , it's definitely your fault . The text messages may have been automated possibly, but regardless it will be your fault for sure . There is an open parking lot and it's relatively small but It wasn't difficult to find parking . The shop is located on a one way street. Therefore beware that same way you came will not be the same direction you will leave . Just for your information ( during this time period) the road adjacent to the shop is under construction as well . I can imagine that causing frustration on a busy time of day . Thankfully , appointment wasn't on a very busy day . When I arrived , there were only two clients which were children of course . I don't think I've ever been to a salon where it's child based. The braiders acknowledge our presence when we walked in and advised me to sign in at the front desk upon arrival. The manager informed me that the assigned braider was on her way . Once she arrived she walked right over to us with a smile . She introduced jerked as Alexis and she took my niece to the back for a shampoo . Typically she's afraid to get her hair shampooed but she was calm and excited to get her hair done. Ms. Alexis , was very nice to her and talked to her the way anyone that's experienced with children should . She addressed me as Auntie since I told her I was her aunt . Which was perfect , so that my niece wouldn't address me by my first name , later on. As a content creator I took video of the experience ( no other kids were recorded ) In fact my nieces face wasn't exposed as well. I asked Ms. Alexis if she was ok with being on film . She obliged. It was an over all great experience! Ms. Alexis was so nice and friendly as the other braiders . We all laughed together and told a few jokes . It was all appropriate around children . They made me feel like we'd been attending the salon for years . I fact there were children who had been coming for hair services for years . The children were so cute . I love children and I think it's nice to have a salon catered just for them . It should be a barber shop only for children . When Ms. Alexis finished her hair. It was so beautiful. She had a pretty blue bow in her hair which was free with a hairstyle. She was photo ready for sure ! She smiled and loved her hair . As we left the other braiders assured her she was pretty in her new hairstyle. I thought that was so nice of them . All of the ladies there who were braiding hair that day were so talented . They really knew their stuff! What touched me the most is seeing fathers bringing their daughters in for hair services. Some carried their little princess in their arms . And she was done in 2.5hrs which is more than responsible. My kid and stylist decided on style of braids. The total look and experience was beyond my expectations. Braids neat. So I simply apologize for the time I might have wasted time by having the stylist wait. I was also prepared to forfeit my deposit because the stylist should be paid for their time. Mimi looked for ways to accommodate me as I prepared to schedule and leave. Up walks the stylists (Chrissy and Diamond) each taking one of my girls and doing their hair. I do understand that I got lucky that maybe the style was quick or that a cancellation may have come through but either way I was filled with gratitude. I was filled with even more as the did the girls hair with any noise or whimpering. Even when the tablet died, they simply sat there and enjoyed the pampering. I booked an appointment with Dimee for child for scalp braids no added hair. After she washed my child's hair she began to comb her hair. She was combing her hair extremely hard from the root. Pulling at her hair. My child was crying with tears coming down her eyes. When I saw this I said to her " You are combing too hard" Her response was" Well, she has a lot a hair and she needs a trim". She then proceeds to tell me "She has a lot more hair than her sisters". This does not justify you to comb her hair so hair that she is crying! Especially with a hot blow dryer. Her response to me, her attitude and her demeanor was very mean spirited and didn't make me or my child feel good. If the issue was that her hair was too thick or needed to be detangle then why was she not offered any treatments like a detangling spray or even a conditioner to help with the detangling? The only option was to comb it hard? She is 11 years old and has never cried at any hair appointment and she was crying because she was in pain! That speaks volume. At the end of the appointment I was charged $20 for an "intricate hair design". I was told this is because her style had more than 3 designs in it. She had 2 hearts in the front and the 2 hearts on the side and then the hair was braided up. I already paid $90 for mid back length now and extra $20 for a style that I actually found on the hair salons instagram page. My daughters have gotten this same style at the Cumberland location and I was never charged an extra $20? If this style was an extra $20 then why was I not informed this when I showed her the picture before we started? I really do believe I was charged extra out of spite for speaking up when I told Dimee she was combing too hard. This felt personal. I'm already paying $90 for a style so why charge me an extra $20? It's sad, I have been coming here for almost 3 years with all my 3 girls faithfully, once a month and never have I left feeling so bad like this.

I spoke with the stylist about it and asked that she wash her hands before touching my daughters head again. I get there at 3:30 and she has a client in her chair that is 3/4 complete. I then ask if she was sure 3:30 was a good time, she said yes because she has someone else washing my daughters hair. I said okay and leave to run an errand. I get back 2 hours later and a girl which I later found out is Keisha's daughter is braiding my daughters hair and she is just getting started. Keisha is braiding another clients hair. Once I arrive, Keisha switches to my daughters hair and is not done until 7:30PM!!!I express my frustration to Keisha and she says this is how it always is at the beginning of the school year as if 4 hours is the standard. Of the three previous ones I visited, one didn't have the color I wanted, one did not have a qualified colorist, and the last one required a consultation then a week to two week before an available appointment even though a sign posted states that walkins were welcomed. I walked into Egyptian Hair Styles on Saturday, spoke with the owner, told her what I wanted, and she informed me that any of the stylists could do what I wanted and assured me they have the color I wanted. The next day, Sunday, I did a walkin and was able to get exactly what I wanted. Both days I went, the employees greeted me promptly and was pleasant throughout my entire visit. I was seated in a chair quickly and the stylist began working on my hair. She asked what I wanted and delivered just that. To top it off, the price was reasonable. Parking is shared with other stores in the plaza, but there was plenty space available. I would definitely recommend the team here and would definitely return for and service I need.

My girlfriend first realized that something wasn't right upon washing her daughter's hair after only going to George a couple of times. She noticed the texture was straight n stringy n the back and it just didn't feel right. When washing her own hair, she also noticed the same thing and told me about it. Needless to say, when I washed my own head later (in preparation for summer knotless braids), I realized that my hair felt thinner and lighter towards the ends. So, I decided to give it a break from the heat this summer. Upon going to my main stylist, today, she initially felt my hair was ok, but would know for sure once she washed it. Upon washing it, she was upset and stated "my head is not the same head!" She informed me that they were using chemicals on our hair (e.g. relaxer) and we didn't even know it. I have been natural for over 14 years. Apparently, they add chemicals to make our natural hair more manageable, so they can quickly get us in and out. However, it totally destroys our once healthy full head of hair. I will NOT be going back, but definitely felt that I needed to provide this review to inform others as I was once sending George very high praises! Not anymore...

I was paired with Shayla and let me tell you. I loved her energy and efficiency. I got a wash and 6 stitch braids. She did her thing! These braids are CRISPYYY!! & the wash was relaxing. She was gentle with blow drying my hair and the overall braids don't feel tight at all. I'll definitely be back in a few weeks.
