I think they are deleting my google review so here it is:…read more 2-week UPDATE: Dropped from 4 stars to 2 because I got heat damage after explicitly sharing my concern and the stylish told me 'They use a great heat protectant'. I honestly should have know better when I realized no one in the shop had their natural hair showing. The damage isn't extreme but its disheartening after I trusted a salon. They also didn't give me anything special for my hydration treatment, my hair feels the same as before aside from the trim. If you don't care about your curls go right ahead and book, but if you're a curly girl, think twice. I came in for a Silk press with hydration treatment and trim. This was my first visit and I was dealing with major split ends over the past few months and know I needed a proper trim as I have been growing out a permed, pixie for about two years. Yoycelyn did the majority of my service and she was amazing!!! As a tender headed - curly girl I appreciated that she took her time sectioning, detangling, and answering my questions including how long she would leave me at the dryer. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was issues with time management. I had to wait 30 minutes to get started (I had an appointment not a walk in) with a different stylish who, after shampooing, did not section my hair when applying the hydration treatment, and, then, I was left under the dryer for 40+ minutes until I pushed the hood up on my own accord. After that, Yoycelyn took over and was a gem. However, these delays end up turning a 1hr 15 minute appointment into 3 hours. I will update my review depending on how my hair reverts. If all goes well, I would go back, but book Yoycelyn specifically!

I really really wanted this to work out. I did. I'm new to the area and when I saw the positive…read morereviews, I just KNEW I wanted to go here. But I'm not sure where these other reviewers went, but it couldn't have been the same salon! This place is AWFUL. I'm going to go into detail about what's wrong with this place. 1) Not friendly or hospitable: Zenzale (or whatever her name was, she was so secretive about it to the point where she asked me to leave the check blank so she could fill it in) was rude and brisk on the phone, and she is like that in person as well. When I arrived, I went to the front door. Instead of greeting me, she cracked the door and said "Hi, go to the other door please." And slammed it...After walking to the other door, she just opened it with no smile or introduction or anything...just loud shuffling of feet in clogs. 2.) Secretive about location: It might be because this is someone doing hair out of their HOUSE, but when I called a few days after making my appointment to find the address, I got a game of 20 questions before I got an straight answer...and not even really a straight answer. She told me she would text the address to me. Really?? 3.) License?: I don't think this lady actually has a license. It's not displayed anywhere. The "salon" is actually in an extra room in her house. I'm not one to judge that because I've had great service from salons in people's houses, but she has NO professional equipment. No barbicide, no rolling carts, no roll of shears, no set of combs...just a bunch of orange combs you can get at the Dollar Store and a chair to hold her stuff while she's doing hair. 4.) Unprofessional: Had to walk around and pick up toys and little kid's shoes before she actually got started on the hair. After shampooing, just let the excess water drip down my face and shirt before offering me a towel...she didn't even tie one around my neck to keep the water off my shirt. Just handed me a towel. 4) Doesn't know what she's doing: She has natural hair but doesn't seem to know how to style/detangle anyone else's. When I came in, I told her I brought my detangling brush (The Tangle Teezer) to help detangle. She said she would use it, but while washing, used it like a scalp massager and tangled the mess out of my hair....she also used steaming hot water. Not good for hair or scalp in these winter months, especially when I told her before starting that my scalp was dry. Immediately after shampooing, she rubbed my hair down with a towel a way that is a big no-no for naturals, instead of gently wringing it dry--- it's very obvious that it would tangle the hair. She further tangles it by mussing it with her fingers while I'm in the chair. Instead of using my detangling brush, or starting from the ends with her wide-tooth comb and working up, she very literally ripped the comb through my hair, from root to tip. I could hear my hair snapping and breaking. While two strand twisting it, she raked her finger nails through the loose sections, snatching out the tangles as she worked her way down. I'm pretty sure that I've lost most of the hair on the floor from this lazy, rough method. My scalp is sore now too. 7.) Doesn't do as requested: I clearly remember telling her over the phone before the appointment (and in the chair before she started) that I wanted a big, fluffy fro, updo or twist-out. I told her before-hand that I didn't want to keep the twists in because they look scalpy on me and I like big hair. I noticed during all this though that she kept insisting on twists. I thought it was just me. So after my twists dry I fully expect her to actually style my hair. WRONG! She says "All done!" and takes the cape off. I asked if she planned to take them down, and she offered me several excuses as to why I should leave them in, saying I'd have to get back under the dryer, that leaving them in would make a better set....then she asked if I was going home right after. I HAD PLANS THAT NIGHT. IT WAS MY BIRTHDAY. Plans= cancelled. I also asked before-hand if she could show me how much she cut off, and I told her its because some people get scissor happy. She said she would, and showed me on her finger...however, she completely turned me away from the mirror while cutting so I couldn't see what she was doing. I'm so disappointed. For the money I paid, I thought I would get such a great experience. Honestly I feel like crying. The only thing good that came out of this is the awesome smelling products she used in my hair. And also, looking at my hair now it doesn't look like she got crazy with the cutting. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO TO A REAL SALON

She listened to my concerns and I didn't feel rushed . I expressed to Valencia , the concerns of the braider being child friendly and that I could bring my own braiding hair . She stated that bringing my own hair was absolutely acceptable. Since the makeup of her clientele is children ages 3-18, she assured me the staff would be understanding of my nieces needs. She was so nice over the phone and answered all of my questions. It was very simple to book the appointment with a 25.00 deposit to hold her spot . As the appointment time was near I received reminder text messages until the last 30 minutes to the appointment time. If you set an appointment with Kiddos and forget the date and time , it's definitely your fault . The text messages may have been automated possibly, but regardless it will be your fault for sure . There is an open parking lot and it's relatively small but It wasn't difficult to find parking . The shop is located on a one way street. Therefore beware that same way you came will not be the same direction you will leave . Just for your information ( during this time period) the road adjacent to the shop is under construction as well . I can imagine that causing frustration on a busy time of day . Thankfully , appointment wasn't on a very busy day . When I arrived , there were only two clients which were children of course . I don't think I've ever been to a salon where it's child based. The braiders acknowledge our presence when we walked in and advised me to sign in at the front desk upon arrival. The manager informed me that the assigned braider was on her way . Once she arrived she walked right over to us with a smile . She introduced jerked as Alexis and she took my niece to the back for a shampoo . Typically she's afraid to get her hair shampooed but she was calm and excited to get her hair done. Ms. Alexis , was very nice to her and talked to her the way anyone that's experienced with children should . She addressed me as Auntie since I told her I was her aunt . Which was perfect , so that my niece wouldn't address me by my first name , later on. As a content creator I took video of the experience ( no other kids were recorded ) In fact my nieces face wasn't exposed as well. I asked Ms. Alexis if she was ok with being on film . She obliged. It was an over all great experience! Ms. Alexis was so nice and friendly as the other braiders . We all laughed together and told a few jokes . It was all appropriate around children . They made me feel like we'd been attending the salon for years . I fact there were children who had been coming for hair services for years . The children were so cute . I love children and I think it's nice to have a salon catered just for them . It should be a barber shop only for children . When Ms. Alexis finished her hair. It was so beautiful. She had a pretty blue bow in her hair which was free with a hairstyle. She was photo ready for sure ! She smiled and loved her hair . As we left the other braiders assured her she was pretty in her new hairstyle. I thought that was so nice of them . All of the ladies there who were braiding hair that day were so talented . They really knew their stuff! What touched me the most is seeing fathers bringing their daughters in for hair services. Some carried their little princess in their arms . As a society , we don't give fathers their flowers enough. There's some great dads out there. Shout out to the dads who bring their girls to kiddos !! It was so nice to see. I will be bringing my niece back !!

Of the three previous ones I visited, one didn't have the color I wanted, one did not have a qualified colorist, and the last one required a consultation then a week to two week before an available appointment even though a sign posted states that walkins were welcomed. I walked into Egyptian Hair Styles on Saturday, spoke with the owner, told her what I wanted, and she informed me that any of the stylists could do what I wanted and assured me they have the color I wanted. The next day, Sunday, I did a walkin and was able to get exactly what I wanted. Both days I went, the employees greeted me promptly and was pleasant throughout my entire visit. I was seated in a chair quickly and the stylist began working on my hair. She asked what I wanted and delivered just that. To top it off, the price was reasonable. Parking is shared with other stores in the plaza, but there was plenty space available. I would definitely recommend the team here and would definitely return for and service I need.

BEWARE! CHEMICALS ADDED AT SHAMPOO BOWL!…read more I was referred to George by a very close friend who has a head full of long, natural, color-treated hair just as I do! Upon visiting, we were both thrilled at how quickly we got in and out (less than an hour) for a wash, dry, and style. We both even took our teenage daughters, too. My girlfriend first realized that something wasn't right upon washing her daughter's hair after only going to George a couple of times. She noticed the texture was straight n stringy n the back and it just didn't feel right. When washing her own hair, she also noticed the same thing and told me about it. Needless to say, when I washed my own head later (in preparation for summer knotless braids), I realized that my hair felt thinner and lighter towards the ends. So, I decided to give it a break from the heat this summer. Upon going to my main stylist, today, she initially felt my hair was ok, but would know for sure once she washed it. Upon washing it, she was upset and stated "my head is not the same head!" She informed me that they were using chemicals on our hair (e.g. relaxer) and we didn't even know it. I have been natural for over 14 years. Apparently, they add chemicals to make our natural hair more manageable, so they can quickly get us in and out. However, it totally destroys our once healthy full head of hair. I will NOT be going back, but definitely felt that I needed to provide this review to inform others as I was once sending George very high praises! Not anymore...
