Haley did a great job cutting my hair. She listened and asked a few questions, then did it exactly right! She's only there one more week, then she graduates. I just discovered Hair's How. If you have been getting color at a full service salon, you might hesitate before going to a beauty school, and I was nervous. But I had a wonderful surprise. The student assigned to me, Cassidy, gave me wonderful color. My hair looked as good as it does when done at a full service salon. Her supervisor kept checking her work, and made suggestions when necessary. Cassidy was very sweet and very nice, and I made an appointment to see her in 6 weeks. I am very happy with my hair and the way I was treated at Hair's How. Everybody there is so nice. I am eagerly anticipating my next visit. read more

This salon is fantastic. I have brought my elderly mom with dementia here as it is with such ease that the staff and students are used to this type of client. Everyone is so nice, and they have done a great job with my moms hair--she has had a perm and a cut and the prices are so affordable. The students are very lucky as the two women who run the school are great leaders and know their stuff! I recommend this salon for everyone. I HAVE NOTHING BUT AMAZING THINGS TO SAY ABOUT THIS HAIR SCHOOL/ HAIR SALON THE STUDENTS AND TEACHERS ARE AMAZING AND THE STUDENTS ARE AT THE POINT WHERE THEY NEED TO DO REAL HEADS OF HAIR NOT FAKE HEADS. NOW BEFORE U get scared and think student remember that they are at the end of their training they most likely are already working at a salon they just need hours on a real head and the thing that really I think it's great they don't make a move and less and instructor comes over and tells them to go forward. Each step the teacher comes over and ensures things are perfect. They are watched like Hawks the teachers are amazing and I go there knowing they would never mess up my hair I have gone to high end salons and they've destroyed my hair These girls are eager to learn the informations fresh the teachers are on them they are not going to let them make a mistake But you go to a salon where you don't know last time they've had a training and they destroy your hair and you just paid $200 for them to destroy your hair Point being is that not only do these girls do an amazing job the teachers make sure they are not going to screw up The prices unreal! It's totally worth checking out. I got an all over color change(dye) by a girl who works at Interlocks n Newburyport (I think her name is Mckayla). Both she and her instructors took their time concocting the perfect color to get it just how I wanted even though my thick, balayaged hair is difficult to make one tone. This a cosmetology school that provides salon services at incredible prices! A friend of mine told me about this place after I started complaining about the prices in most salons. At most salons you will pay $40+ for a cut and $75 for a partial foil and over $100 for a full foil. I got a full foil and a cut and it cost me $48! Can you believe it?! And the student who did my hair did an awesome job! They also have the teachers check their work and who walk around making sure that students are using the correct techniques for coloring and cutting. I felt confident the entire time that my hair would come out well. I left there very happy! I'll definitely be returning! read more

I just graduated in October 2019 i had the best experience, never would I have thought I liked school as much as I loved this school, I don't even know where to start, the teachers we're just so awesome and so helpful and made learning so fun, they become practically family! What a great surprise! First time visit and will be back. The student assigned to me was a pleasure and will be making my future appts with her. LOVED her own hair cut and would have loved that style but my hair is not the same texture as hers (or we'd definitely be twins!) No frills as it is a school, but do know that the instructors watch the students and help when they feel they need to assist or make a suggestion. Worth the drive to Wakefield. Easy to locate. This review is really for the girls looking to go into the cosmetology industry. You have found your place! From the moment I walked into Hair's How I knew I had found a place that would only make my dreams of becoming a hairdresser a reality. Growing up with 4 sisters and with two hobbies of cheering and dancing that took over my life, hair and makeup was my everything. I grew a passion for doing my teammates and as I got older I found myself getting my best friends ready for big events, proms, weddings, banquets, etc. High-school was not really my thing. I wasn't interested in learning about world war 2, or reading about Ulysses, or doing math equations all day. The best thing I ever did for myself was follow what I do love to do and that was apply to Hair's How days after my high school graduation. The teachers, the students, the atmosphere, there couldn't of been anything better about this place. I was begging to sit in class longer, I was asking to stay late, I wanted to be there even at 9 in the morning. I was participating in class without even realizing, Linda makes every theory class SUPER interesting. You'll never ever forget some of the stories she tells you. As I got closer to finishing my 1000 hours I knew I was BEYOND ready for my state board exam, BUT I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE. This place was my home away from home. The teachers became my mentors, my back bone, and they gave me the opportunity to become the best possible hairdresser I could be. They believed in me, even when I didn't. They pushed me into things I didn't think I could do and gave me the confidence to do so. This place gave me some of my best friends, some of the best times of my life, memories I'll remember forever, and gave me the knowledge for a career I'll love for the rest of my life. I couldn't recommend a place more. I'm almost two years in a salon. I have a great clientele. I feel knowledgeable beyond my years. And I couldn't thank Hair's How enough for that. Super results for super value! Had a full foil to gradually lighten my whole head to ash blonde so grays wouldn't announce themselves at my hairline and crown so quickly. (Not ready to take the natural gray plunge yet.) Anyway, before this the grays would show in 9 days or so, but now it is well over 3 weeks. Such an immediate bonus and have just begun phasing in the lighter shade! The instructors are meticulous in overseeing what the students do. It will take a little longer than a regular salon but after all it is a school. Foils are usually done in the mornings. The shade of my hair and the gray coverage were superb. Returned for expected root maintenance and again an excellent result. Cost is about 50% of what I have paid in the past for foils. Used to do my own root touch-ups but now with cost decreased (and a much more thorough job) I will just go here to have it done. The only difference between here and regular salon is to plan that it may take longer depending on learning stage of student. Also , no hair product sales or sales talk which I consider an added value! read more

The staff is unbelievably sweet and extremely dedicated to teaching the kids that come through there and making them the best they can be. It is a phenomenal program and Deb did so good at prepping me for my state board and making sure i knew everything that was going to happen. I love Hair's How! I am new to the area and came in for a cut and a color. It came out GREAT. it's always a little nerve wracking going to a new location for the first time but I'm so glad I did. I get my hair cut there frequently. $8 for a men's haircut, and I usually leave a $2 tip. They cut it exactly as I want it, and the teachers and students are all very polite and professional. The only downside would be the parking; 3 spaces, but I park in Shaw's and walk there. Keep up the good work! read more

okay i went to this school at the begging of march and i never thought it would impact my life so much.And i promised them i would give them some sort of review cause when i was in high school looking for a beauty school i was a little weary of picking some.Most schools will try to sell you buy telling you "oh heres a new ipad" or "look at all the fancy stuff well give you!".That's not hairs how if your looking for a fancy kit or an ipad that's not this school :) and im glad it wasn't.If you want an education and i mean a good one that when you leave your not half as scared and more confident then the other girls or guys starting in the beauty industry then go here.I would rather spend less not get such a fancy kit and be taught what i learned from them then go to another school where they just sell me things and not teach me anything with the fancy tools they gave me.this school will become like a family to you a very weird goofy family but one that when you leave you'll still talk about.Not everyday was easy and i want to stress that but without them pushing you to be the best you can be i don't think i would be still doing the career im doing cause it is going to get ruff and your not going to make the most some days But hairs how gets you prepared they over prepare you for state board and real life situations.They are loud funny and full of energy the best teachers you could have.i know its a small school but trust me its worth every penny i saved up to go here.I have so many good memorys from this place in such a short time.What im trying to put into words is i couldn't have picked a better school to have gone to and if you go here you'll understand why its so hard to even describe the experience you get learning here :) but i loved every good and stressful moment i had and if i had to do it all over again i would go back to here .miss all of the teachers. ....p.s but you love me Linda ;) lol read more
