Scheduling was easy, with a simple phone call. A couple of days before the appointment, Cindy called to apologize for a scheduling issue and asked if we could arrive earlier. That actually worked out better for us, as we had a luau that evening! The kind folks at Mamalahoa accommodated us by opening an hour early. Mahalo! This is the kind of special place that you see on those reality tv dating shows, that provides the perfect romantic atmosphere. From the second you step on the grounds, you see how everything is beautifully maintained, with plenty of foliage and bamboo walls for privacy between the hot tubs, walking paths, and buildings. Ron, our host, gave us a tour to show us the hot tub and orient us to the outdoor shower. He provided lots of information about the trees and flora that are flourishing on the property. He was extremely knowledgeable and felt like a botanical garden tour! He also gave us robes and towels for the duration of our stay, nice touch. The massage room was fantastic. It was complete with calming music, comfortable beds, awesome aromatherapy scents, and nice open air feel. Lauren and Janaki were our masseuses. We chatted with them at the onset to talk about sore points for them to focus on, and preffered amount of pressure. They both did a phenomenal job of soothing our tired muscles, and working out the knots. I have to say, this was the best massage I have ever had! After the massage, we made our way to the hot tub to finish off our romantic day date. Normally the hot tub part is first to losen up the muscles prior to the massage, however, we did it the other way around. It felt more romantic! We were both fortunate to get appointments with just a couple days notice and we are so grateful! Before starting she took time to ask where we might be hurting and said to please let her know if we needed any changes to how much pressure she was using. This was so refreshing that she really listened and cared about our health and well being. From start to finish she amazingly tended to all of our sore areas, and my boyfriend and I were both long overdue for massages with lots of aches. She is truly skilled with fabulous technique. The office location is tucked off of Alii Drive in a cute corner adorned with plants, a trickling pond with fish, and there happened to be lots of butterflies fluttering about. She has soothing and enjoyable music playing, and the space was comfortable and quaint. I strolled the adjacent shops while my boyfriend had his massage, and after we were both done we walked to a nearby restaurant for lunch. Convenient!
