What an amazing experience! I attended Elizabeth's 10a Tuesday yoga class in her yurt in the middle of the rainforest. She is a master healer, nurturer and wonderful human. She first took my husband and I on a tour of her property-with adorable chickens and goats. Her love of the land and her animals was palpable. She uses a variety of yoga styles, reiki and massage techniques to create a holistic, healing experience. I found that texting her was the best way to learn specifics about the location and class. Lizzie's yoga class is more than just a yoga class, it's an experience! Deep in the rain forest, the yurt is the perfect escape for destination yoga fanatics. A combination of yoga, reiki, crystals, sound and cool mountain breezes made this one of favorite stops. Following the class we took a detoxifying infra-red sauna which combined light and color treatment. The whole experience was enriching for both the mind and the body. I don't recommend many places because sometimes it's a hit or miss but I can honestly say Lizzie is AMAZING and you're crazy if you don't make an appointment with her! I suffer from migraines, a torn rotator cuff, and sciatica among other things which have made me seek out the healing hands of massage therapists throughout the state and also the west coast. I can honestly say that Lizzie of Yogayurt is AMAZING and one of the top 3 that I've been to. She is definitely the best I've found here on Big Island and I've been to more than 10 including the spa at Mauna Lani. She listens and pays attention to what your body asks for, finding knots I didn't even know where there and using the perfect amount of pressure. I've had many masseuse do a textbook massage where they feel hard pressure works best all the time. Others will only poke and prod at the problem ares. Lizzie goes above and beyond, changing the pressure of the massage as she finds what's best for each area. For our first appointment I was a bit nervous because of the bad experiences I've had lately but after a long trip to Oahu (couldn't see my masseuse there as she was on vacation) I was in desperate need of a massage. However upon meeting Lizzie I was immediately at ease. She knows what she's doing and she takes the time to work on any and every problem she finds. A lot of other masseuse have a time clock that they watch like a hawk but she doesn't. I could tell that she genuinely cares and is passionate about her work. Her massage room is relaxing and super clean, she offers lemon infused water and also plays relaxing music to help you enjoy the session. When I left I had no pain and I was immensely relaxed. Honestly I almost fell asleep on the table but made it home to take a nap and veg on the couch. I knew I had to make a 2nd appointment! The entire experience is amazing from start to finish complete with hot rocks, deep tissue, and Reiki. It's as if she can sense exactly what my muscles need to relax! I saw her today for a 2nd appointment because the 1st was phenomenal. Seriously, I was so relaxed I even dozed off!!! My shoulder had been bothering me all day prior to seeing her and after the massage it felt like I didn't have shoulder problems at all! She also has an infrared sauna which I highly recommend! Stellar massage, awesome personality, and hard to beat prices?! Someone wake me up if I'm dreaming because I think I've officially found my new go-to masseuse/spa on the Big Island!!!!! read more

After my massage with Elizabeth I felt so serene and happy. My entire being surrendered into her touch and relaxed into the light as she moved and rubbed. The hot stones were fantastic! They got deep into the tissues that are often so tight and let me go deeper into the silence than ever before. When the stones were set on my sternum and hips I felt the grounding that allowed the work to go deeper yet. My foot is much better and I appreciate focusing on that specific healing. I feel that Elizabeth's gentle touch set the stage for the deep stone work to release the resistance left within and give me a subtle, yet profound night's sleep after. She has a powerful energy which flows freely through her hands. My daughter and I were in Volcano for a couple of days over Spring Break, hiking and relaxing. We stumbled upon Yoga Yurt Hawaii thru Yelp and found a real gem! A little out of the way, but so worth the effort to get there. All I can say is that I had a fantastic hot stone massage in the calm ambience of the Hawaiian forest.
