0 - ZERO stars! Stay away from this place. For starters this salon is so dirty! I have never been to a salon that was so filthy! It was my first getting a pedicure and manicure here. It was on Valentine's Day 2026 and my other half wanted me to have some me time. When I got home I probably sounded ungrateful because the only positive thing I could say was I liked the color I picked. It's the 17th and literally every time I washed my hands with hot water or scratched my skin or nicked my nails I could smell the nail polish (this is days later) and this is not nominal! I also left a review on Google. Stay away from this place they don't care about cleanliness! Look around for yourself on the nail side, you won't see it on the hair side. The longer I sat in the massage chair the worse it got. My pedicure and manicure was horrible! Why did the tech change the shape of my nails when all I approved was a trim. My nails grow square and now I have round nails that don't match my feet or fingers. Why did the nail techs use the filing tool to remove previous nail polish instead of nail polish remover and why did they cut and trim my nails before soaking my hands or feet. I thought the purpose of the soak was to clean the client before using shared tools on them. Granted they opened a new pack of nail clippers and other metal tools but the electric filer and callus remover is clearly community. The place I go to in Oahu uses new mini kits every time and they let you take it home! In the past I got my hair cut here three times. Never did my nails. Three times by three different people. The best cut was by Jen. She washed cut and styled my hair and only charged a cut price. I tipped her well. The second person did not wash my hair but he did an excellent cut. The third person was supposed to be done by Jen but she double booked herself. The person washed my hair even though she didn't ask not did I, cut and styled my hair even though I didn't ask to be styled and then charged me for all services. I never returned after that. The third cut sucked. The second cut was great and sadly he left but I see why. read more

Happy Valentines day everyone! I am a single mom of two who barely does anything for herself. I haven't had a pedicure in over a year! I had my hair cut 6 months ago for the first time in over a year. This info is to add a little perspective. I decided to love myself this Valentines day! I booked several services Jen's Salon and Spa in Keaau ...Pedi, wax, and hair dye to be exact. The pedi and waxing were amazing I felt like a queen! Until it came to the color..... this is where I left in tears and my entire weekend ruined. I posted a picture here ..the first photo. Is what I asked for. (I also listed a before picture for reference) I said I understand my hair isn't as long but I would like the blonde to frame my face and drop down dramatically like hers to just the tips. Just like the picture. I was told they would not be able to get it as white, but could get it to platinum blonde. I said okay cool....will it take a couple of sessions to get it white? I was met with silence and strange looks. I'm okay with platinum blonde. So no worries there. I again reference the photo frame the face dramatic drop to the tips. The lady working on my hair just didn't seem to understand how to do it. I explain several times just like the picture. She says oh like chunk highlights. I say no, just like the picture. It isn't chunked. It is a little blonde all the way to the top around the face and drops dramatically to the tips. Again saying " just like the picture." Jen...the owner explains to her to "just start with the back and I'll do the front" the lady does the back and as she is doing it Jen (the owner) keep telling her "heavy on the bottom....brush downward for a blend" she critiqued her at minimum 5 times as she was doing the back of my hair. Showing her and mocking the motion on how to do it. Now to the front. She starts to do the sides.... I'm noticing she is going a bit high. Jen comes over and critiques her and gives her instructions "diagonal, you have to go diagonal! " she continues to go straight across... layer after layer.... jens says again " diagonal motioning again where she should put the bleach" the happens for a minimum of 5 layers. I'm hoping and praying that she didn't go to high and the coverage with just blend nicely. I sit there....30 min....45 min...an hour....2 hours....almost 3 hours with the bleach on my hair! I'm thinking this seems like a long time, but I've never had my hair bleached before. While waiting I also notice the hairdresser cosmetology license had expired in Oct of 2020. We go to rinse... I'm horrified and excuse myself to the bathroom. At this point my infant daughter was dropped off to me because I was there much longer than expected. I'm holding my daughter and declining the hairdryer my hair is Naturally curly. The stylist (I didn't catch her name but she has short shaved blue hair, can't miss her) comes to me and says it will be $300 with this grimace expression I explain that the board say 150 for full highlights and that I wasn't expecting to pay anywhere near 300 for this. That is was not what I asked for and quite yellow. She goes back and forth with the owner in the back room. The owner comes to the counter. I pay for my pedi and waxing which were separate services according to her, it is owned separately. I explain what is on the board is no where near the price she is asking. She proceeds to tell me it is discounted already, that I have thick hair and that most women pay almost 500 for this service! (My hair is very fine, thin, and curly) I explain to her it looks NOTHING like the picture and I am not paying that. She proceeds to bully me into telling me I have to pay for it. She dropped the price to $200 and said it was as low as she would go and that they would not be toning the color! I settled the bill for $200 so I could leave the salon as I was holding my daughter and she was not budging any further. Not offering to fix it just letting me leave in literal tears. ...I can't even wear my hair up as the color is not consistent and chunks were missed. Brown on one side blonde on the other. It is completely unevenly dyed. Please avoid this place, tell your family, and friends. I was robbed of my hard earned money and left with broken self esteem for valentines day. Very upset, went in for pedi and nails.I had and appointment at 930am. I took a picture of what I wanted. Initially First Lady said no problem. Then she switched to another customer. To get to point: I had 5 ladies work on my feet. All said they were fixing what the lady did wrong. Somehow they cut when I asked not to, and left them crooked. I had my appointment at 1:00 p.m. left the shop at 5:30 p.m. owner Jen started with my nails then another young lady continued Jen's work and a 3rd person helped her cause she was struggling with painting them so 3 persons total worked on them. I told 2 of the ladies the colors were different colors but they said it will even out. Very disappointed cause I paid over $100.00 for acrylic nails ,pedicure and my son haircut and my nails were just not done correct besides staying there for such a long time. Was extremely disappointed with the customer service from the owner who set up my appointment and as I came in and she started my nails I said how are you doing today? No answer at all. I asked how her day was and got nothing either. She did my nails and never said a word to me the whole hour she was doing my nails. I find myself not wanting to return again. The lady went to the side to ask. she comes back to tell me it would be a 10 min wait which I was okay with that. I sat outside to wait. 10 mins goes by then another, so I decided to go in and ask. Felt need to update my review based on 3rd visit for pedicure. Hubby and I walked in not recognizing either of the gals assigned for our pedi's. Instantly noticed the nice massage/pedi chairs were GONE!! They were replaced with frumpy overstuffed recliner chairs you'd see in someone's outdated home. What??? We were puzzled by this odd change. The chairs did have massage remote but were very weak, no comparison. Then instead of having the nice bubbly foot spa tub they are just using a bucket type container to carry back and forth to bathroom to fill/empty. Then to make it uncomfortable the stool they use to do the service is up higher than the chair so it was a strain to have my leg/foot propped up in that position for several minutes. My gal was a bit rough with filing and cleaning under the nail, I flinched a couple times. My husband started couple minutes before me and even though I had nails painted his gal was still massaging his legs. My gal rushed right thru it. I'm used to having a nice leg scrub then decent lotion massage and places in home state of WA. This gal spent about 3-4 mins. massaging just lotion, no scrub. I know the previous visits with other gals they didn't take a nice amount of time either but this was just rushed feeling. While experience was disappointing other than having fresh painted toes. I had told her initially I was overdue and needed extra foot filing but she didn't seem to wanna do anything more than minimal effort. Saw the sweet owner so all the changes weren't due to new ownership, just poor choices with chairs. And missed the staff we'd had before that were personable and at least put some effort into it. My hubbys gal was good this last visit but never spoke or smiled. Now with crappy chairs and set up I doubt we'll revisit. Too bad, convenient to our home. read more

Came to get a refill on my nails. I was checked in as soon as I walked in & it was less than 5 minutes before Robert took me. I decided to get my nails re done instead of a refill. The process to take them off was long but it was only because the previous place thickly coated my nails. Once Robert got them off, it was smooth from there. I liked how he checked to make sure his tools weren't hurting me when he was trying to take off my old nails. I decided on coffin shaped nails with a nude matte color. Love it! Will be back again! This is the worst and most awkward pedicure and manicure I've had! When this young guy was told he has a pedicure to do he started huffing and banging things around prepping the foot spa. I asked him if he could remove the gel on my toes. He huffed then shouted he was removing gel. His mom worked on my hands while the son worked on the feet. They were arguing with each other in another language while working. It meant for a very rough leg rub from the son. The pedicure didn't include any callus removal. The son even huffed after I asked him where I could give him a tip. The spa chair was visibly dirty. The chairs table had crumbs and a used cup. This service was brief and perfunctory. I had a perm done a week ago. Didn't turn out the way I wanted. After a few days trying different things to help, I called Jen. She did not hesitate to ask me to come back so she could fix it. Originally, Myra did the perm and I told Jen I wouldn't mind her doing it again as I suspected the product not Myra. Well, today I had my redo and it looks perfect. Using a different product. Another great appointment with Laura. Laura helped me transition from a long time acrylic nails client to a gel client. Love the flexibility of gels. Easy to maintain and keeps my nails looking professional. Although the salon is changing the interior, it's still welcoming. Love all of the ladies who work here, but wish there was a receptionist who could handle the many phone calls and walk-ins. They offer gift certificates which I used to spoil my friends. read more

A teen age boy did my pedicure and it was the worst one I have ever received. He cut my nails so short and rounded the corners so that my toes are stinging and an ingrown toenail is inevitable. His mom was scolding him about it in another language, and explained to me he's just helping out for his summer vacation. It is my understanding that you need a license and training to do this job. It was awkward enough to have a pedicure by a sulky teenage boy who clearly did not want to be there, but the fact that he screwed up so bad that I now have to tend to my feet as if I was wounded is icing on the cake. The place was dirty and I fear infection. I have been putting neosporin on my mangled toes. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! Not worth it. read more

Jen did my hair. Charged me $260 for very minimal change. My husband said he could barely see a difference. She was lazy in wrapping my hair all the way up when she did my highlights because I have long hair. While waiting for the highlights to set, the foil was literally falling off on to the ground and she had no clue where they were falling from. Very sloppy. At one point, my eyes were burning because she was just flying my wet dyed hair into my face. The whole time, I felt like she was rushing it. She charged me extra for conditioning that I never asked for. At the end of it all, I could barely see a change and when I walked out of the store, I noticed that in the sunlight, my hair looked GRAY. I walked back in and told them my problem. She said she'd fix it since it was my birthday but I would have to come back in a week and on Top of that, I'd have to walk out with wet hair because "Blow drying costs Extra." HER WORDS! Of course I never went back because I'm scared she'll make it worse and charge me again. read more

This review has two parts: 1) The Pedicure, and 2) The Management of the Salon. 1) Today, I went to Jen's Salon & Spa for a pedicure with Saifon. This is my third pedicure with her, and I think she's great! She does a good job with cuticle & callus removal, nail shaping, and polishing. I've had some really great pedicures on Oahu and the maInland, and Saifon really measures up. She's also very friendly and takes great pride in her work. The cost of a basic pedicure is $26.04 including tax. 2) Unfortunately, I had to wait an hour for the pedicure. I called in the morning to schedule a 1pm appointment. The owner's boyfriend took the call and made the appointment. When I arrived at the salon at 1pm, he told me that Saifon would not be in until 2pm. Why did the owner's boyfriend schedule me at 1pm then? He responded that Saifon was supposed to have arrived at 1pm but called to say that she wouldn't be able to come in until 2pm that day. Why didn't the owner's boyfriend tell Saifon that she already had a 1pm appointment scheduled (as well as a 2pm who learned when he arrived at the salon that he would also have to wait an hour for his appointment)? I didn't ask that question but I can only assume that it didn't occur to the owner's boyfriend that he should make an effort to manage the salon's appointments in a professional manner. At the very least, he should have requested my phone number at the time of booking and then called me to let me know of the change in appointment time. When I arrived at the salon, I noted that it was very quiet, so it's not like he was busy and couldn't focus on appointments. I want to end this review by saying that I have visited this salon three times, and the previous two visits took place on time. read more

Don't. Just save yourself the irritation and don't use their waxing services. I've used 5 different girls, you're never offered the same person. The closest I got to a good waxing job was with the owner. I only do 1/2 leg but I come home with noticeable strip that they completely missed. They change out people all the time it seems so consistency is hard to come by. I've had pedicures here and most of the time they are a good value but, once again, not always. If you need convenience then it's your place. If you need quality then make the drive into Hilo. read more

I am reviewing the hair salon, not the nail or waxing service. To me, Jen's salon is a god-send! My husband (fiancé back then) and I were adventurous enough to pick a treehouse in Hawaii as our wedding location. After the arrival we realized there's no electricity and we had scheduled for a photoshoot! As I was panicking (with bug bites and lack of electricity), I looked for hair salon on Yelp and Jen's Salon happens to be the closest Salon in the area (still 15 miles away). I called 2 days ahead and asked for the earliest appointment on my wedding day. They scheduled it but later received a call saying the hair stylist can't come in that early and asking if I can come in later. My brain couldn't process at that time and I simply said "no" The lady on phone told me that's fine, she will ask Jen, the owner, to come in early to do it. So on my wedding day, I followed the directions on Yelp and I was first led to a private residence which was not correct. I called and the lady on phone told me it's actually in the Keaau shopping plaza. I arrived 10 minutes late but Jen greeted me with her friendly smile. I told her the emergency situation, showed her some pictures with what I want and my hair accessories I am having. Jen quickly grasped the idea and she just worked her magic with ease. She is clearly experienced, and know what she is doing. Just an hour later, my husband and my hair become picture-ready! Pro: -flexible schedule; able to deal with emergency situation -committed to the service -skillful; would do their best for you -friendly cozy environment I've lived in Hawaii for years and I know how people on the island behave. They might not dress fancy or hustle bustle, but they really put their heart and time and take pride of what they do. I am so impressed with Jen's skill and she is truly a life saver (it's pretty "scary" to get married in a place where you are not familiar with the businesses) i got complements from people telling how cute my hair was. I am so grateful I was able to find Jen on this occasion and I would love to recommend her. :) read more
