This place is located in the middle of industrial area and we would have never found it without Yelpers reviews. Thank you! This place was exactly what we hoped to find for lunch on our first day in Cochrane. We sat on the back porch overlooking the busy road with lots of excavating going on across the street but it added to the experience. Our server was incredibly efficient and made the meal even better. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich with fries and the honey garlic wings with onion rings. The guys ordered beers of choice and we girls had club soda with lime - a $3.00 charge. Some places it's free. The food was so much we didn't finish even though we split a meal. Outside there is a rock garden where you are encouraged to take one and leave it somewhere else to bless someone. I will take mine home to FL. So glad we came here! read more

We went based on the recommendation of a friend. Cool looking place, lots of kids! Got sat on the patio very quickly for a Saturday afternoon which was great. Our server was ok. He took our drink order fairly quickly but sort of forgot to come back for our food order after his return with our drinks when one of our group was in the bathroom. I tried 2 different beers and both were very tasty. I ordered the Cochrane Club and was super disappointed with the lack of chicken on it (pic attached). The tomato slice and the chicken are relatively the same thickness. The sauce on the club was good so it helped but not worth the $18.95 I paid for it. Even more disappointing was that someone in our group ordered the Chicken, Bacon & Swiss and he got an actual chicken breast on his. Great beer, awesome service and delicious burgs. I had a chocolate porter and man it was smooth. Chocolate forward so if that's not your jam then don't bother but I loved it. Hubby got an ale (don't remember which one) and it was also good. We had the black and blue burger and it was so delicious! Highly recommend. The blue cheese isn't too strong, just a hint of it! This is probably my favourite Brewing in Cochrane. The style is pretty cool and the patio is amazing. Even the washroom is awesome!!! Lol If you are looking for local beer, you will find some good options like farmers daughter... that's really good!!! And if you are not into beers they have some good options for drinks like blueberry mojito, half hitch ceaser and so on... the food is good too... I ordered chicken wings, waffle chicken burger and cheeseburger... the flavour is amazing... you should try guys... and if you have any question, just ask for help!!! We were there for Canada Day, a group of 4 of us.. The place wasn't busy at all. Yet it took 15- 20 minutes before we got acknowledge at the front door. Got there around 7pm and didn't get our food until 845pm. Our server Amanda didn't come by to check in until the very end and brought out our cold food. The food was cold and took almost 2 complete hours to get NACHOS, wings and one burger. When we left the server Amanda followed us to the parking lot to tell us that we didn't tip enough and then stormed away. Super unprofessional. Don't waste your time. Beautiful building and the rustic charm is evident throughout. Seating on the second floor got hot fast and the waitress said she wasn't allowed to open the door for fresh air. When I stopped in on a Friday night, there weren't too many there, but a couple large parties and that backed up the kitchen. The waitress was friendly and told us the expected wait was 20 mins for our appetizer. Order: hot wings which were dry and smaller than usual. The lobster dip was good and a large portion, but could was more "layered" than mixed. The fish tacos were fried, but still good. The beer was good as well and there were plenty of cocktail options. Found this hidden gem almost by fluke and it was a wonderful surprise. It offers a nice selection of food and drink options that can enjoyed indoors or on the pet-friendly outdoor patio. There is something for everyone, including the kids. Portion sizes are decent and prices are reasonable. The serving staff is attentive, friendly and knowledgeable about the food and drink menu. What a great addition to Cochrane! The brewery has been around for a while but the restaurant just opened a few weeks ago and is tucked away in an industrial area. At the moment the brewery is hidden behind a wall but there`s plans to put in windows down the track so that you can see the beer that you`re drinking being made. We visited on a Saturday afternoon and it was busy! They took our name down and we were able to get a table within 5-10 minutes. Our server was wonderful, very enthusiastic and knowledgeable, as well as finding out information on growlers for me when I expressed an interest in the one beer on tap that`s not available in a six pack. There`s currently four house beers on tap, a pale ale, red ale, brown ale and a `Dubble Trouble` IPA that was amazing! 16 oz pints are all $6.67 each and they have a bunch of options from other Alberta breweries too, which was impressive (not sure of their pricing though), including Fallentimber and Cold Garden. We shared a Hula Girl Flatbread ($14) which was really so tasty with generous toppings and thick bread. You can grab any of their 6-packs (Pale, Red or Brown Ale) for $15, or a growler refill for $15 ($20 if you also need the growler, or more for the IPA). There`s different daily specials, Saturdays is 10% off the Brown Ale. PS I highly recommend tying this in with a visit to the Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary beforehand... read more

I've had better. Frequently. After seating ourselves, we went unnoticed for ten minutes. The brisket sandwich had good flavor, but the meat was tough, fatty, and too thickly sliced. The chili tasted like out of a can. They were paving the parking lot. The air inside smelled a mix of bbq smoke and tar. And the only ice tea was sweetened. With "testers" to try their home brewed beer, the staff were friendly with advising on flavours and their recommendations on the menu. The good... We finally decided it was time to return to this place. We've visited once a week for the last 2 weeks in a row and it was on point! The service was great, prompt at the door, prompt with seating, prompt with initial drink orders, prompt, prompt, prompt! And nothing resembling our previous experiences, phewf! Being on edge about service quality when I'm hungry is usually a disaster for me ;) In both visits the servers were very welcoming and attentive. It looks like prior problems were nipped in the bud :) The burgers are excellently done, great portion and super hot fries. Try the chicheron, these are my current craving! A pint, by the way, is a real pint here, not a baby pint like what you get at BP's. The smaller pint here is a 16oz glass, and the pint is truly an 18oz pint. Thank goodness for common sense. The bad... On one visit, the server forgot one of our appetizers on the order. No matter, we had plenty of food and didn't need it. It was a genuine mistake that worked out for us anyway. Pricing is high, I think it competes with Mr. Mikes down the road, but Mr. Mikes wins out with larger portions, slightly better prices. The quality is there at Half Hitch, and the portions are reasonable, so it's hard to say it isn't worth it because it is. This is especially with the quality of service we've been experiencing, but I think this place could offer some discount or happy hour nights like Mr. Mikes, and celebrate customer appreciation with the locals. The ugly... I like that there are no TVs in the place with sports... the idea is supposed to get people to concentrate on the people they're with. My other half disagrees... perhaps the disagreement is more uglier than the fact that there are no sports playing on TVs. What we ordered... The first we we ordered a BBMS Burger with fries and gravy, a brisket sandwich and fries, chicheron, and 2 pints of Papa Bear brews. The second week turned up only on difference, and it was just a Half Hitch Burger with fries a d gravy. We looove their burgers! The patties taste fresh and the brisket combination with ground chuck really works for flavour! The bill averages around $75 for 1 appetizer, 2 sandwiches and 2 pints. It's certainly high, but there is value, only, they could probably work on this a bit more to make price points easier. Favourites... the fried pickles and chicheron. We have a date with these and a couple of pints coming up! Will we return? Yes! Finally, it the place we wanted to love in the first place. read more

We always enjoy trying out the local craft beers when we travel, so we were excited to go to Half Hitch Brewing Company, which was just down the road from where we were staying. We walked in the door to a large rustic wood paneled room with farmhouse lights and fixtures. The atmosphere was casual and friendly and our waitress was personable. She took our beer sampler order, which included all of Half Hitches home brews: Papa Bear prairie Ale, Outlaw Cascadian dark ale, The Farmer's Daughter Pale Ale, the Fire & Fury Red Ale. We enjoyed all of the beers, but we like the Papa Bear Ale the best. After sampling the beer, we ordered a full rack of ribs to split between the dear hubby and myself since I wasn't very hungry. Ribs should be cooked to the point where the meat is sweet, very tender, and moist, but unfortunately these ribs were cooked a bit too long and the meat was rather dry, almost jerky-like. The rib meal came with fries and coleslaw, which tasted fresh, although the portion was rather small. The fries had a light Cajun-like seasoning on them, which we enjoyed. The "manager-in-training" came to our table shortly after we started eating to ask us how we were enjoying our meal. We mentioned that the ribs were really dry, and not very good, and we thought he would go back to the kitchen and bring us a different rack of ribs. But we just sat at the table with our plates pushed away from us, since the ribs were inedible, and he finally came over and said he would take 50% off the price of the ribs ($27 Canadian) Considering we only ate 2 ribs from a full rack, it was disappointing to spend $13.50 on a meal we didn't even eat. Again, we were really surprised he didn't just swap out our rib plate for another rack of ribs. On our way out the door, the full-time manager stopped us to apologize about the ribs and explained that the manager we dealt with was in training and encouraged us to come back and give them another try. He was very friendly and expressed his concern that we we're not satisfied, which was great customer relations. We are staying in a Cochrane for 5 more days, so maybe we'll come back for a beer and give this place another try. If we do, I'll be sure to write an update to this post. read more

Food is decently priced, even if you don't like beer they have amazing cocktails, served in little mason Jars.
