Departing from SFO was a great experience from start to finish. The terminal had a steady stream of…read moretravelers, yet it never felt chaotic or overwhelming. Clear, easy-to-follow signage made navigating from check-in through security and to our gate effortless. The entire process was efficient and well-organized, setting the tone for a relaxed and stress-free start to our trip. One thing I always appreciate about SFO is how clean, quiet, and well-maintained the terminals are. Even with a steady flow of travelers, the airport feels organized, comfortable, and easy to get around. Before our flight, we stopped at Lark Creek Grill, and it was an excellent choice. The food was fresh and delicious, the service was friendly and attentive, and it was the perfect place to relax before boarding. Just be prepared--it's definitely not cheap. Like many airport restaurants, you'll pay a premium, but the quality of the food, service, and overall experience made it worth it. I also love that SFO features outstanding local Bay Area restaurants instead of the typical airport chain options--it gives the airport a much more authentic feel. SFO continues to be one of my favorite airports to travel through thanks to its cleanliness, efficient layout, excellent dining options, and overall passenger experience. It's always a pleasure flying out of San Francisco.

It has been more than a decade since my last visit to SFO and honestly I still think this is one of…read morethe best airports in the United States. [Pros] * Convenient AirTrain (automated people mover) that takes travelers from the terminals to BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) & the Rental Car Center. The ride time between stations is approximately 3 minutes and it was a fairly accurate estimate. Our party dropped off the rental car at 6:15 PM and arrived at Terminal 1 approximately 20 minutes later. * Easy TSA process - I was able to complete the TSA screening in 10 minutes on Sunday at 6:45 PM. * Really nice food and drink options in Terminal 1 like Tony's Pizza Napoletana (SF Eats Food Hall), Napa Farms Market (SF Eats Food Hall), Starbird (Gate B13), and Mama Go's Filipino Cuisine (Gate B18). * Heck there is even a small museum exhibit (SFO Museum) and a bookstore (Green Apple) in Terminal 1. * Top-notch retail options like the LEGO Store in Terminal 1. * There is a dressing room inside the men's restroom as well as a children's playground (between Gate B18 and Gate B19) & a yoga room (near Gate C2) in Terminal 1. [Cons] * Slightly confusing layout for TSA PreCheck (Level 3 - the upper level) vs regular TSA screening (Level 2 - the lower level). * I am not a fan of the extra AirTrain stop at West Field Road (no one got on or off at this stop). [Terminals] * Terminal 1 = Aer Lingus, Alaska, American, Delta, Frontier, Hawaiian, JetBlue, and Sun Country * Terminals 2 & 3 = Air Canada, Breeze, Southwest, United (Domestic), and WestJet * International Terminal = United (International) and all other international airlines [Conclusion]: This airport has all the amenities travelers can think of & this airport also has some of the best food and souvenir shop options travelers can find at airports in the United States.

That's because we like to fly Delta, specifically non-stop between Atlanta and SFO; most ATL-SFO flights arrive at and depart from the C gates in Terminal 1. This terminal is fine. The terminals at SFO have the following gates: Terminal 1: B and C gates Terminal 2: D gates Terminal 3: E and F gates International Terminal: A and G gates The Delta Sky Club here in Terminal 1 (next to Gate C3) is good, not great, though keep in mind SFO is not a Delta hub (it's a United hub). I don't recall ever having an issue with security here. On our last trip through Terminal 1 earlier this month, we used CLEAR+ with TSA PreCheck and got through very fast (a few minutes).

You have to go to regular security and ask someone (inevitably someone that is perpetually annoyed because they hear the same question all day long) which means you likely have to back track. If you do go to the TSA Pre you may find that line is longer than the regular line. I did. Yes, the TSA Pre line movies quicker. But you schlep up and then back down stairs. Super hassle.
