We ordered two steak dinners. One steak was OK, the other was way overcooked and full of gristle. The sides were OK. The dessert that came with the meal was great. Extremely expensive for the quality of food. Extremely. The service was great - they have a very friendly staff, and the atmosphere was very good in that the restaurant has gorgeous lake views. If I could give a million stars, I would! Let me start by saying that this is such a beautifully maintained piece of heaven! We didn't stay at the lodge because we were camping, but we had the pleasure of sitting at the bar with Dominique for dinner, who completely made our night serving the BEST cocktails! And the food was AMAZING too! You can of course fulfill your carnivore healthy appetite, but they have vegan and gluten free items too! It really isn't that far from the Town of Pinedale, so if you are looking for a GREAT restaurant, I would absolutely recommend the drive up to have a spectacular dinner with incredible ambiance. But the great dinner and service wasn't the only part of our eventful night. After leaving the restaurant, we accidentally took a wrong turn onto a road that we thought was the campsite and while backing up, we almost flipped our van over a cliff! It was literally dangling from the side of the road!!! So, because we had established such a great relationship with Dominique, I decided to call the restaurant to see if they could help. And by the grace of GOD, got reception and was able to speak to the owner, Kristine. Within minutes, she arrived and so did Dominique with a flatbed truck, and with the 2 vehicles, they were able to pull us out!!!! I have never been so grateful in my life for these 2 angels that saved our lives. They had been working all day and didn't even blink to come and help. And when I asked how I could repay them, they said, "Welcome to Wyoming, please just pay it forward." So, this review is not only to encourage everyone to eat, drink and stay at a BEAUTIFUL and SPECTACULAR establishment, it's a plea for me to be able to "pay it forward" a little bit to some really exceptional people who deserve all the best life has to give. read more

This place is spectacular. The views are nothing short of amazing while the food and drinks are a must have. Everything is homemade. Do not leave the premise without trying the onion rings! You can also book a horseback ride around the lakes to give you breathtaking views and a true Wyoming experience. We stayed here for a couple days last week. Upon arriving, we were famished and decided to make use of the on-site restaurant. I'm so glad We did! I had the best French dip sandwich ever! And the scenery was amazing. The cowboy waiters in their wranglers were a nice touch and the service was excellent. Only downside was dessert. The huckleberry white chocolate cheesecake had a bitter taste I couldn't get past. read more

Spectacular view across the lake to the Wind River mountains. We stumbled in this place as a stopover from California to Yellowstone. Very nice cabins in the lake at affordable prices. For dinner wife had the ribeye steak which was huge with similar sized helpings of mashed potatoes and green beans. I went with the burger and homemade fries. Everything was really good and highly recommended. Suggestion to management: replace the cracked butter container and never bring a bottle of beer that isn't cold. -This review is from last summer. I had dinner with my family at the Half Moon Lake Lodge on Tuesday evening, August 15, 2023. We arrived on time for our reservation, there were no other patrons in the restaurant and only three in the bar - had to go into the bar and ask the bartender to get someone to seat us. Our group of seven ordered four beers, one cocktail and one glass of wine - took forever to get the first round. Asked for a second round and the bartender was too busy talking to her three friends seated at the bar to fill our order - finally had to go into the bar and confront her on her lousy service. Meal finally came out and the food was cold, steaks were overcooked and the lamb chops looked like shoe leather. I have dined at the Half Moon Lake Lodge many times in the past when the establishment was owned by Jack McMurry - the service was exceptional, and the food was outstanding but no longer. Don't waste your time and money on the Half Moon Lake Lodge today - it's not worth the agony. Go to the Stockman's in Pinedale, you will be greeted promptly, treated with respect and have an absolutely wonderful dining experience. This was amazing. We went out last night for dinner. You cannot beat the views. The food was some of the best we have had in years and the dessert was amazing!!! I can not say enough about the service -- if I had a restaurant I would have paid these kids double bc they were that good. The meatball appetizer was out of this world. Had the Pontoon Platter for lunch ($16). Plenty for 2+. Had glass of Chardonnay ($5). DeIicious salmón, assorted cheeses, capers, grapes, olives, crustini. If you're near Pinedale definitely make the ride up out of town toward Elkhart & then down along the wilderness road to this beautiful lakeside lodge restaurant. Have to admit the food & prices beat the nearby Lakeside Lodge and the view is pretty special too. read more

We went there 2 years ago and it was great!! We were really looking forward to going back this year. There are new owners. To say the quality has taken a nosedive is kind. We walked in through the bar entrance to find 2 employees in a compromising position. When they realized we were there, they reluctantly straightened their clothing and headed to the kitchen. The restaurant is very dirty now. The floors don't look like they have had a broom or mop on them for at least a year or so. Everything is ala carte now and very expensive. When you put together the entree, salad, bread (yes they make you pay extra for that), a side it is well over $40 per person. The food is not even average. The lettuce, cucumber and tomatoes on the salad were well past their prime and non edible. The macaroni and cheese was like kraft with cheddar melted on top to dry it out. the shrimp was served on a cold dish and was cold itself. Since the waitress didn't bother to come back until it was time for our check, there was not much to do about it. Someone came in their very short cut off jeans and served our wine but never bothered to come back to see if we would like another glass. That person appears to have just come back off a boat and not like a restaurant worker at all. There was our table and another table with the same complaints. All other tables were empty. At least their server came back and tried to rectify some of their problems. Ours, who only had our table never did come back so water, pop etc was never refilled. Truly sorry to see such a wonderful place fall into such incompetent hands. When we told the hostess who was present, she chalked it up to covid. What does covid have to do with terrible service and poor food quality? Needless to say, we won't be back. The view is still great! read more

Wow I've never walked out of a restaurant until last night. The husband and I went out for a nice dinner. We had to seat ourselves in the empty restaurant. After a very long time we were able to order a drink. My husband ordered a PBR which used to be a draft not anymore I guess, it arrived in a tacky can? I ordered a glass of Merlot which came in a glass so small it looked like it belonged in a dollhouse. My husband wasn't hungry so when the waiter came I ordered the $26 Ribeye. Hubby was content just to have a few drinks but definately not another can of PBR. After placing the order we waited for 45 minutes watching our waiter play on his phone and comb his beard. My husband was severely disappointed and asked to leave the restaurant. He felt like we were being purposely ignored. I put money on the table for our one round of drinks and left. Half Moon you started out great but now you've lost a customer forever, I'm probably not the only one that has had this experience. I hope you read this review and make some big changes. read more
