Nothing much to say but thanks for having sales on really good quality products. I lost my raincoat somewhere along the way and work outside in the rain a lot, so figured this might be a good place to get a high quality replacement instead of a cheap little rain poncho at a corner store. Half-Moon didn't disappoint! Glad to see the high end ones to compare, but $500+ wasn't in the budget for the quality differential, so I was also grateful to see the sale versions in the 100$ range. Can't speak to service-the staff only spoke to us while making the purchase, but that was fine-we weren't in need of anything else anyway. Store seemed clean and tidy. read more

I can not say enough about the service that I received from Nate at Half-Moon Outfitters. I had purchased a kayak from them at least 10 years ago. The seat had fallen apart. I went everywhere looking for a replacement. Nate really did his research and though it took a week he was in constant communication with me and he found the part. I was shopping for a particular item online and found it on the Half Moon website. We do not have this store in our part of the country. i ordered the item and ordered a second one two days later. I did not receive email confirmation and became concerned. I called on a Sunday when the office was closed and spoke to the Charleston store. Danny L researched the matter and found my two orders and provided the shipping information for the first order. the second item was being shipped to the Greenville store and would then be shipped to me. Danny followed up on the second order and provided the shipping information when it was available. He went above and beyond! The items have both arrived in great shape. Have been to this store many times. Always felt like the people are not very helpful but for the most part I like the inventory so we stop in whenever we are downtown. Husband and I have spent thousands of dollars here in the last few years. Went in to Christmas shop a couple weeks ago and a male employee tall dark hair followed me around the store stared at me with the rudest look the entire time. My daughters and husband went upstairs when we first came in to find a camping chair for My sisters gift and while I waited downstairs I tried on a rain jacket and this employee made me so uncomfortable. Once I realized I wanted the jacket I placed it at the register to wait to check out with my husband and asked another employee if I could park my kids stroller next to the register so I could wrangle up my family upstairs and get out of there bc this person would not stop staring and following me. It's not a big store really so I knew that this guy was just profiling me and wrongly assuming I was either goin g to steal something or that I was not going to buy anything. Anyway, I go upstairs and another gentleman now is following Me. I did notice that there's another review from a Hispanic person being treated rudely on here so I guess this shouldn't surprise me. What's funny is I wanted to buy my other sister a pair of shoes and no one even approached me to see if I needed help. In the end we bought a really nice folding camping chair and a Patagonia rain jacket great quality goods. Terrible service. read more

I've just walked into the store with my mom. I was hoping to buy a pair of shoes ($100) and a Patagonia hat ($30). My mother and I ware ignored by the staff while other (non Hispanic) customers were greeted politely. "Anything I can help you find", I heard one of the staff (who was standing next to me) asking to someone walking in the door. I tried many hats with the hopes to get their attention. We looked at the shoes for a while in the hopes to get someone's attention. I understand that I could have easily asked for someone's help, but the fact that they were SO nice to everyone else and completely ignoring us made my blood boiled. read more

No nagging me to buy everything in the store, they were very laid back and cool. I've been to this particular store before to buy a stove and have had a positive experience. However my recent trip here to purchase some wool socks, and some smaller gear was not as great. I waited patiently in line but was cut in line by another gentleman. Very disappointed. I purchased Chacos here and the foot-bed started to peel away after wearing two days. I attempted to return and was told they didnt allow returns on "worn shoes" but obviously something was wrong with the quality of these shoes. The manager was out of town and someone was supposed to call me back but never did. I have since reached out to Chacos since I know their products are better than this. Im just disappointed that Half Moon didn't let me return shoes purchased 4 days earlier (that should not have looked like that already). I will not be back. read more

I was definitely disappointed in their return policy. I had an Eno hammock that ripped (when a child sat in it). Eno did not fix the product (disappointing). I expected Half Moon to stand by the product as it was a brand they sold. However, they would not replace it either. I try to shop local, even if I pay more, in the hopes that I will have a connection if there is an issue with the product. The same hammock can be purchased on Amazon for almost half the price and I dare say better service. read more

My go to outdoors store, this place has it all! I've never been unsatisfied with anything I have ever purchased of received as a gift from this place, whether it's shirts, hats, hiking boots, flip-flops, bags (messenger and regular) and anything for hiking or camping. I have to say, although I couldn't buy anything here because they were out of my size, the staff was super helpful in the process of trying to find the right size for me because I was changing brands and trying a completely new product. After about 20 minutes of finally finding the right size, they didn't have the color I wanted and it would come in later in the week after I was leaving, but it was still all of the time and effort that they went to to get me properly fitted and happy that I appreciate without pushing anything on me. read more

I have never written a review, I have never found the necessity to write a review, I have never had a NEED to write a review, but after my experience with this staff, I felt obligated to write a review. Let me start by saying, I noticed a negative review by that "T V" guy and instantly thought to my-self "wow this guy is kind of a d**k and is absolutely giving this store a bad name." I am actively searching for a new SUP (standup paddleboard) so I went to the store to check it out for myself and see what they had in stock. I was greeted by two employees the males name was Matthew and I forgot the females name, however, both of them confronted my girlfriend and I to let us know the clothing racks that were on sale, and various other sales for the day. I was not interested in any of those (b/c I had come for the SUP board) but it was still extremely nice and friendly of them to offer. It was also a busy Sunday afternoon with a ton of other customers in the store, yet they were still able to greet us. I proceed upstairs, where I was probably standing by myself for 30 seconds, before being greeted by another male, his name was Matt (not to be confused with the Matthew downstairs). This employee, Matt, who was upstairs, confronted me while I was looking up at the 12foot tall paddle boards. He was extremely genuine and spent a few minutes talking with me, he did not use any aggressive sales speech/tactics towards me. He was just being honest and open, in talking, we actually found out we grew up in the same part of Atlanta. So not only did this employee do his job by speaking to me about the products for sale, but I feel as if he went ABOVE AND BEYOND his job requirements by taking time out of his day to speak with me. I cannot get over how genuine he was. In conclusion, if anyone else out there is reading this and sees other negative reviews, just know those people will never be pleased with anything, they will drift through life making complaints to try and get what they want, without regards to possibly defaming someone else's business and name. So if there are any other prospective customers of Half Moon Outfitters out there, that might be deterred by negative Yelp reviews, I hope this review helps. To the owner: I will be a lifelong customer of yours. You're employees are doing a fantastic job, people will always be quick to judge, yet reluctant to show any praise, so I felt an obligation to praise a few of your employees. I plan on purchasing the BOTE Flood within the next month, as the weather is finally getting warmer!! As you know, purchasing a new paddle board is not a cheap expense, but I am happy knowing my money will be going to a company with good people and a company that can conduct honest business. Oh,forgot to mention, last Wednesday 02/27/2019, I called in frantic trying to find the Yakima SUDDAWG attachment for some weekend plans, a guy named Ace (maybe Jace) answered the phone and was awesome! Customer service is the best that I have ever experienced at any outdoor outfitter and being a gear junkie I have been to quite a few. I went today to find some good shoes, knowing they have a good selection. I've been here before and the customer service has always been good. However, today the two girls working downstairs completely ignored me and any other customer that walked in. While I was looking at shoes, one girl sat on the bench folding pants, never asking if I needed any help. I picked up a shirt and was looking at the clothing and both girls were messing with hangers and talking to each other, again completely ignoring me.
