I noted that they were a plumber that…read morequalified for Yelp's guarantee program, a neat program that I've fortunately never had to use. I did my initial contact outside of business hours. Early the next morning, I had a message from Adam B. Once I got to work, I returned the call and quickly described my issue and what I believed it to be. The first available appointment wasn't until Monday (it wasn't urgent, so I wasn't worried about going the weekend). I got my timeframe. I had a couple other appointments that day, so I ended up taking the day off so I could easily be available. I immediately liked that they told me who would be arriving - AND that was who arrived. I also liked that they use a customer portal that allows you to have some security if you pay online or to review your records. Christian arrived (there was one other person with him). It took him a couple minutes to diagnose the issue he believed it to be, and it took him not a lot longer to determine that diagnosis correct. He quoted the price, I agreed, and he got to work. After finishing the work, he determined the original issue I'd believed it to be wasn't quite needing to be addressed (but will be in the near future). We discussed options, including ways I could save a bit. Christian was personable and explained things in a way I could understand. The issue was likely caused by me, but he managed to avoid using the word "idiot" at any point. The repair was done in a timely manner. The price ended up being a bit lower than quoted. I appreciated his honesty as he very easily could have pointed me toward a repair not needing done yet. It also became obvious the last person I'd used had really only done half the job. Everything has worked beautifully since Christian finished. There are likely a couple more projects I'll tackle in the near future, and I won't hesitate to return to Grateful Plumber. The housecall was $59, but that was credited toward the repair once I decided to have them do the work. Friendly employees. Good follow-through. Fair pricing. Quality work. Problem solved. That's 5-star for me and another winner for Yelp's project feature.

Meanwhile late in the day someone from my Dad's church volunteered to come and look at the issue. The issue is fixed. I called the grateful plumber as soon as I had a chance , because of everything that is going on. The voice mail said that cancellations done in less than 24 hours would still require the service fee. I left a message and cancelled the appointment then I get a text that their service guy is on his way. I called back and talked with the owner I'm assuming and he said he is charging us a service fee anyway. That it was too late to call off his guys and that they had been holding this spot for me. Terrible customer service and interaction.

Hannah was helpful on the phone and worked around my scheduled meetings to fit me in for a diagnostic visit the next afternoon. Ryan N texted me in advance to let me know when technician was on his way. Brett S arrived promptly, inspected the water heater and asked some questions, and then he explained two options, a fix of a pressure valve or a new water heater. Ryan called and explained pricing for each option. I chose replacing the heater, since it was 8 years old and already out of warranty. And Brett S., with help from Caleb B. who came to assist, was able to complete the installation that same afternoon. Everyone was professional and courteous, their pricing was reasonable, and they didn't try and upsell other services in a pushy manner as I've experienced with others in the past. I will contact them again and would recommend Cornwell.

I was forced to work around their schedule because they would not come out at a time that was convenient for me. The technician was fairly helpful and had the problem resolved and was in and out of my house in 4 minutes. No parts, only labor. I was charged $180 for the 4 minutes they were in my house. A rate of $2700/hour. While I would have understood a rate of $60-$120 (there are costs for scheduling, training, trucks, gas, etc) $180 is an insane rate to charge, especially for a company that sells themselves on the money they have saved their clients. I will be using a different plumber going forward that has upfront and reasonable rates with good customer service, unlike Jim Russell.

They informed us they did not have time available to look at all items but would come out for the water heater and they quoted us a price for the visit and stated additional parts etc would be quoted before any further work was completed. Turns out the water heater just needed the igniter cleaned which the plumber did. The plumber then offered to look at the other items we had. I asked about the price for this and he assured me "I'm here for an hour there is no additional charge for me to look at the other items. I will let you know cost on any parts". Well, literally other than turning the allen wrench under our disposal he serviced no other items in our house. He did "look" at them and he told me how he recommended I could fix them myself. He left within the hour. I was very happy at that time...then the bill came...in was over DOUBLE what was quoted!!! Upon calling their office I was told there must have been a misunderstanding. They refused to adjust the bill. We will not be using them again!!
