We nearly didn't make it because we were in Kentville, but due to lack of accommodations (last minute, fully booked), I gave them a shout at 8pm and they had one room available. We drove over, and boy, am I ever glad we did! Let me just say - what an absolutely beautiful house. Gorgeous. A dream. One of the owners (Rick, I think) was there, he had waited for us to arrive since it was late. He didn't act rushed at all, gave us a tour & breakfast order to fill out - he was thorough and friendly. I love the breakfast idea - order what you want at what time & leave it on a desk in the front hall (the same desk that had cookies waiting for guests on it the next morning!) Our room (The Windsor Room) was actually the one I was the least interested in when I looked at pics online, but it proved my judgment wrong. Painted Yellow (with original hand painted & plasted stucco work), with hardwood floors, a big window with wooden shutters, and the most comfortable, plush bed I've ever slept on in my life; I fell in love immediately! The bathroom is built into what used to be a closet and it's very nice - heated, with a shower and natural bath & products. There were clean, plush white robes waiting for us as well. For breakfast, I assumed that it was one common room, but they put us in a private nook, in a separate dining room - so we got to enjoy our (absolutely delicious) breakfast overlooking the yard. It was the perfect way to start the morning. Being so accommodating, the owners encourage guests to hang out throughout the house, even after check-out time. There are games set up upstairs, a lovely sunroom with books, etc. We were also able to check out the other rooms once everyone had abandoned them. They were all fabulous! I think the Queen Victoria Suite is my favourite. One wacky little side note; I'm positive that this place is haunted. Not only because it is so old, but because, after I got home, I was looking at the photos of the Inn and there are very interesting coloured orbs in many of the photos - especially concentrated at the front of the house & outside. When you zoom in, they are all a strange shape & in motion. But, rest assured, I didn't feel any spooks or malicious intent. Quite the contrary, we felt relaxed, comfortable, and had wonderful sleeps! I highly recommend The Clockmaker's Inn, without hesitation. Honestly, one night was not nearly enough to take in this beautiful bed & breakfast that is ultra relaxing. Four thumbs (me & the mister's) way up!

The corner suite was about 600 square feet on the top floor with high vaulted ceilings, king bed, double jet tub, double shower, double vanities, wide screen TV, DVD, Wifi, love seat and kitchenette. The room was very quiet, it didn't share walls with any other rooms and we only heard our neighbors once in the hall. The owner meets you on arrival to show you around and you fill out a slip for your breakfast in the morning. Breakfast was awesome! The two dining rooms seat about ten and everything was from scratch plus hot coffee, tea, cereals and fruit. We'll be back! Draw backs: The website needs more photos to help you choose the right room and I tried to use the complimentary long distance on the guest phone but I got an error message. I suppose I could have gone next door to the owners' residence for help but I got over it.

The room comes with a cooked to order breakfast platter or sandwich. Breakfast is served at a reserved time in a large breakfast area near the front desk. You also have the option of having it sent to your room. The pool is a very good size. Only downside was that the water was extremely cold, even for the Canadians. I was able to warm up by doing my laps. They also have a designated adult swim hour between 10 and 11 at night. That was considerate because the families got in the way of my doing laps. The kids also got pretty loud because of the echos in the pool area. The actual room was very functional with a refrigerator. We had some issues with it being too cold. The front desk had to ask a building and grounds person to turn it off for us. They were very accommodating. All in all, the hotel was fine as well as reasonable and we would return on our next trip. Brent & Wendy Lee were fantastic. So warm and inviting and eager to help us with dinner suggestions, tourist recommendations, and anything we could dream of to make us more comfortable. Their home is a beautiful gem and our room was large, comfortable, beautifully decorated (most of the artwork on display was painted by the two of them!) and the yard and gardens were spectacular. We appreciated being in the suburbs down a quiet lane and a little closer to the Halifax airport, it made our next day just that much easier and more relaxed. Breakfast was gourmet level. No expense was spared, no detail overlooked. Sugar cubes for tea? Sure but also rock candy swizzle sticks if you preferred! Beautiful garnishes on each plate. We had "Atlantic breakfast" tea, fresh fruit served with a dollop of yogurt and a hint of honey drizzle and chopped nuts, a cheddar chive biscuit with eggs and hollandaise sauce with a side of ham. Every bite was perfect. The only thing was slightly odd was the ensuite bathroom had a curtain instead of a door. It was very elegant, but didn't offer much privacy between the bedroom and bathroom. The giant whirlpool tub more than made up for that though, talk about WOW factor.

The hotel is clean, well decorated and the lobby is nice and big. In the hotel is a nice restaurant with a built in bar. It`s incredible how many people come to the restaurant just for the food. The meeting rooms are nice and big. Each time we`ve had the hotel serve our lunches and snacks. The morning snacks are usually fruit, muffins, danishes and Cinnamon rolls. The lunches were sandwiches and pizza. The pizza wasn`t that good, it was just average and the sandwiches were good; however, I`m not a big fan of miracle whip and every sandwich had miracle whip on them. We were however, completely satisfied with the friendliness of the staff and cleanliness of the hotel, meeting rooms as well as the washrooms.

Nova Scotia is getting hit by a hurricane and they refuse to accept a late cancellation considering…read morethe hurricane warning was announced after the cancellation period ended. They are located directly on the ocean, and will likely have heavy wind, rain AND the risk of severe oceans swells yet they put their income above the safety of their customers while all of our other reservations for the weekend have cancelled on us and offered refunds or credit. UPDATE: Despite numerous attempts on my part and that of expedia's to get in contact with the manager they ignored all attempts, failed to get back to anyone, and they've billed me a full day early instead of compromising in any way (even to give a credit for a future stay or change payment method to an insured card) when their motel is about to get HIT BY A HURRICANE. Avoid these people. They shouldn't be in business.

The Stardust Motel is a small motel located in Timberlea which is about 15 kms outside of Halifax…read more Timberlea is a small area but has many of your popular 'must-haves'. Across from this hotel is a drug store, Tim Hortons and a gas station. Just up the road about a km is a Pizza shop and another convenience store. Also, the motel is just across from the exit leading to the 103 highway. The cost of a room is about $75, which is 1/3 the price of your average motel in the Halifax area. The rooms are nicely cleaned and decorated and I was quite impressed with the service. The queen sized bed was firm and comfortable and the room included a full sized fridge, and microwave. No dishes, cutlery, or pots and pans were included in the room. I would definitely stay at the Stardust Motel again.
